@laurafabianmarrero logan is engaged, but your point is still valid. Rory still hasn't learned a thing. She is still a cheater, and she doesn't feel bad about it. Now she is pregnant with engaged man's baby. Funny thing is. She had a chance to marry logan after college, but she rejected him just like she broke up with Dean for Jess only only to sleep with Dean later while he was married. Rory didn't grow at all

I really hate Rory because she has a habit of cheating and she really lacks self awareness with guys and knowing how to create distance, but the adultery was completely Dean's fault. He saw that she was vulnerable and kept trying to be in her life instead of appreciating his wife. The marriage was doomed from the start because he was still in love with Rory. It was only after he blew everything that he realized Rory is just like everyone else and he was able to happily move forward. Rory's main mistake was calling him on spring break.

  • @Bettie_Williams
    @Bettie_Williams หลายเดือนก่อน +44

This was a bad situation all around. Rory should never have slept with Dean or allowed herself to get close to him again. They broke up, and he married someone else. If he was unhappy with his choice or allowing himself to be led down a path where he wouldn't be fulfilled, that's on him. But, at the same time, she realized when she had some time and distance that what they had done was wrong, and she did her best to mitigate the damage by writing a letter to Dean and walking away from him. At that point, it's all she could have done to rectify her mistake. Lorelai understood that and respected it.
Dean was the married one. He knew things were heating up between him and Rory. He should have backed off and respected his wife and his vows. Instead, he was trying to have his cake and eat it, too. I don't think he ever thought he was good enough for Rory. But that was his own imagining. It was never something Rory, Lorelai, or anyone else ever said to him. So, he blatantly lied to Rory about the state of his marriage and then went home to his wife (as a backup in case things didn't work out). That's terrible behavior. When he got the letter, he knew it was over between him and Rory. Instead of destroying it and making things right with his wife (even if he didn't tell her he cheated), he "allowed" the letter to be found and the dirty work to be done for him. This is the part in the series that always bothered me the most. Everyone acted like Dean was a victim in this situation. Like Rory went after him. She didn't. He was the one who broke up with her three different times. He was the one who dated and married a woman he knew he didn't love or respect.
Then, there is Lindsey. On one hand, she did nothing to deserve the behavior she got. She married Dean and did all she could to be the wife she thought he wanted. This was spurred on by her clueless and pushy mother. The main issue is that their marriage was doomed from the start. She was clearly the rebound girl for Dean. Rory or not, he would have woken up one day and realized Lindsay wasn't who he wanted. I think, deep down, she knew this. It's why she tried so hard to be the perfect wife. Dean needed someone to be a real partner with him, an equal who wanted the same things he wanted and someone willing to work by his side to achieve their dreams. That was neither Rory (because Dean felt her goals were loftier than he could ever keep up with) nor Lindsay (a spoiled, naive girl who never considered getting a job to help her husband buy the lifestyle she wanted).
In the end, they all got what they deserved. Rory got the scarlet woman treatment (which she clearly didn't learn a lesson from if you watch A Year in the Life), Dean had to move back in with his parents and got to experience a very public and embarrassing divorce (something he did learn a lesson from as he is married happily with kids in A Year in the Life), and Lindsay learned to pay attention to the red flags when you see them and likely found herself a man who could be what she wanted and allow her the lifestyle she needed (which we don't know for sure).

I think that the reason Rory even did what she did was because she was going through a heavy breakup and rejection from Jess, and when Jess asked her to leave with him, she said no because she valued security, she wanted security from Jess. As insecure as she was she threw away her principles and gave away her virginity in such a terrible way. Lorelai was not ok with it but struggles with being a mom and a friend at the same time.

I don't really get people being pissed at Lorelai. I'm pretty sure Lorelai did say something to Rory when she first found out about her sleeping with Dean. I haven't seen the episode in awhile but I'm pretty sure she made it pretty clear that Rory and Dean were in the wrong.
At the end of the day, Rory's her kid, of course she's gonna defend her, which isn't the same as defending or condoning her actions. I'm guessing she loves her daughter even when she royally fucks up lol
It also feels weird that people seem to be more angry at Rory than Dean. She should've said no, but also he was the one who broke his vows, plus he pursued her. The onus was on him not to cheat.
And Rory tried to do the right thing in the end (even though yeah it took her longer than it should've to realize it was wrong since at first she tried to defend herself to Lorelai). Maybe it was a little too late since obviously it never should've happened in the first place, but at least she knew it was wrong and ended it. At that point, what else could you expect Lorelai to say? Lindsay and her family are absolutely entitled to their anger. But I'm not sure what people expect from Lorelai. To just keep piling on?

It was just a bad situation all around but Dean and Rory were doomed from the start, they had little in common and rewatching the earlier seasons he didn't seem to have much direction outside of wanting to be with Rory, and then he threw himself into a marriage because he just wanted to be married. Dean needed a lot of growing up and at least by A Year in the Life he got it

Lorelai should have answered, "No, I'm not, but she's still my daughter, so back off." Instead she says, "She didn't break up a marriage." Speaking up for Rory is one thing, but denying Rory did anything wrong is another. She could (and should) have acknowledged that yes, Rory did a shitty thing, but as her mother, she still won't stand for a public verbal assault.

Rory dint destroy their marriage, Dean did. 2) I hate how Dean shouts at Rory here, like he is not the one who's actually in the wrong. Same with Lindays' mother, what rory was a mistake but blaming her for the breakdown of the marriage is BS, DEAN DESTROYED HIS MARRIAGE.

Rory deserved to get chewed out because, even if Dean was the actual cheater, she knowingly got involved. She even said to Lorelai during their argument about this that 'he is my Dean'. Like she never cared about what her getting involved with Dean would do to Lindsay. And Lindsay has never done anything to Rory.

Growing up I realized how much I dislike Rory but I kinda feel bad for her in this situation, at the end of the day Dean is the married man, he should have stopped himself, not saying she is innocent in this but she lost her virginity, she wasn't exactly an expert when it comes to relationships and he realized he f*** up just because Lindsay found out, we can't deny he had the intention to have an affair with Rory if he had the opportunity, I would say this is the only time I don't see spoiled Rory because in the letter she said she was going to turn herself away from their marriage, this is the only time Rory actually took accountability for what she did, the fact she cried in that scene is because she felt guilty for what she did, she didn't defend herself it was Lorelai defending her, she didn't say anything because she knew she was wrong and Dean was angry because he was caught and he lost both his women aww poor you Dean! A lot of misogyny here and I'm not talking about Lindsay, she dealt with the situation with class!

Lame Lindsay was self absorbed for wanting her husband to be the breadwinner. Whoever heard of a wife wanting her husband to take care of her? This isn't the 50's! Like seriously get a freaking job already. Have a career instead of depending on your husband to provide!

Go through his things? Really she was probably doing his laundry. When you do laundry you check the pockets to make sure theres nothing in them. Dean wanted a traditional house wife and thats what Lindsey was and now you're hating in her for nothing.

The cheater got caught because his housewife, the exact sort of wife he explicitly wanted, was [gasp!] doing laundry! Spare me. I'm fairly sure that Lindsey's "Huh, what's this letter?" is a significantly lesser offense that Dean *repeatedly sleeping with his ex.*
