The STI shimano came out in 1990 so, it could be original to the frame. It was the start of the 7-8 speed wars to follow.

Loved your early 90s Bottecchia. I have an '87 or '88 with full DuraAce 8-speed components and mostly original parts that looks almost as good as yours. I still take it out occasionally even though I have 3 Looks (286, 585 and 695) because steel frame rides are the sweetest and I get lots of compliments from old and young roadies.

I raced one back in the late 80s early 90s, and I still got it, but it’s the Columbus SL the second highest tubes, mounted with Campagnolo nuovo super record.
This is pretty huh.
I'm looking to purchase this same model and this was really helpful to see the Bottecchia details on their frames.

@@MichaelCoburn Thanks but it's way too nice to ride the roads where I live in Australia. I like a training bike that is a little beat up even Columbus SLX frames like this beautiful one in the video.
I never heard of the brand, but it's a glorious bike. TFS 😀 the chrome and the detail is boggling. Steel gets a bad rap sometimes because of the weight but IMHO it's still a lovely material to work with. I could bog down in technicalities but I won't. Just love the look of the bike.
Rode it 40 miles tonight on a perfect evening. Sweet ride.
