Correct. Double-sided coin. Pain's Cycle of Hatred vibes. There was a conversation they've yet to see in Season 4 (I won't reference it directly here of course) that emphasizes how the fear of Eldians is natural for non-Eldians. Not a misconception, just a hard truth.

16:58 the actual translation should be Armin asked Eren "did you just say "watashi"?" which is weird because Eren usually use "ore" (I am for boyish). Watashi is refer to what Grisha usually call himself. Means that right after he woke up, he is his dad. This small details in AoT really mind blowing and hard to understand for people who are not familiar with Japanese language. “Let’s say this whole show is based on Reiner’s point of view” Holy shit they really have amazing perspectives. Up until this point, back when I was watching, I was naive and didn’t know how much deeper this story can get. Watching their reactions makes me feel a little bit like how it was for me when first watching the show and that’s beautiful.

Honestly, I can say that the basement reveal of AoT is the biggest and most mind mind-blowing plot twist/revelation I know of in any show to date. It essentially proves the entire premise of the whole first three seasons to be entirely false, and even completely changes the genre of the show going forward. An argument can even be made for the age demographic changing, since the it goes from a simple survival story to a political drama founded on racial animosity. It's also great that the basement reveal isn't even out-of-the-blue, since there have been non-stop hints at the existence of the greater outside world since season 1 (my personal favourite being the can of herring Zeke left in Utgard Castle-herring is a saltwater fish, and global commercial infrastructure is necessary to mass produce canned foods). You can pretty much catch new hints every rewatch. And the best part of it all? The basement reveal isn't even the biggest/most mind-blowing plot twist in AoT, in my opinion. I'm not going to spoil the contents of this plot twist, but just wait until the 2nd half of the final season airs in January. The events of chapter 121 even blow the basement reveal out of the water. If the anime sticks by the same sequence of events as the manga, I would expect this to take place around the 3rd or 4th episode.
the twist that Jon Snow is not Ned's som, but the son of the grandson of the Mad King is a slightly better revelation, & heavily foreshadowed since the beginning.
I mean the moment Eren turned into a Titan himself and all the stuff about the king's cycle and Erwin wanting to find the truth in all the indoctrination to keep people in control already gave away a lot of the themes that would get forntloaded with this reveal so it didn't feel out of left field narratively

do you remember that at some point in the show, they said that for some reason the giants came mostly from the south? that's why, the port where they trasform eldians is in fact south haha :) I love it
Yeah! That's why the royal family had their underground chapel to the North and I believe it was when they were defending that city from the giant Rod Reiss that Erwin said something along the lines that it was going to be hard because these territories at the north barely had any combat experience. Isayama is truly a genius storyteller
@@sabasgt I think it was even said as early as episode 2! when the narrator said that the wall cities were essentially "titan bait" because titans are attracted to large group of people, so it allowed the Garrison to concentrate their efforts on these cities and to not have to man the entire wall. now that u guys reached this point of the show not just your discussion but the comments down here are getting more and more detailed and almost everyone is sharing their opinion and perspective on how things go from here, and this is my absolute favorite thing about attack on titan, it gives u SO much to talk about.
This has to be one of my favorite episodes in all of Attack on Titan. The truth finally comes to light. I love how they flip the perspective of titans. ¿Who's the true monster? ¿Who's in the right? ¿Eldia or Marley? That last scene is one of the best scenes I've ever seen in media. When Grisha asks that officer why is he doing it, why does he enjoy turning people into titans, the camera is right in front of the officer. He breaks the fourth wall. All the time he's telling Grisha that peace is boring and that humans enjoy the suffering of others he's saying that to the viewer too. He's looking at us right in our eyes. To me that's the show saying "You're like that too, us humans are the real monsters". Maybe that's the true nature of humanity...(?) Already commented on the Patreon post but wanted to share my thoughts here too. I love this show so much.
I love how you guys piece together every detail you can think of and make sense of it. Not a lot of people can do that hence why I enjoy watching your reactions. Was fully entertained the whole way. Love from the UK!
Dude, I really love to see your reactions to Attack on Titan. You always make sure to pay attention to every single detail, so you understand right away everything the show is trying to say and your analysis are always on point. It's really satisfying for me as an AoT fan to watch your videos, can't wait for you to drop the next episode ;)
I'm currently on marathon watching u guys react to this series and I'm surprised how clever you are connecting the dots, definitely my fav reactors, very fun to watch!
I just love the way you guys turn silence processing the whole chapter. I hope we get to see more anime with you guys. There's a lot of gems out there that shine as bright as AoT
and anime feels like tips of the iceberg if you're a manga reader. The amount of mad mangas which not getting adaptations is enormous due to various reasons.
I was podcasting this with my daughter. We just finished a few weeks ago. It was so jarring seeing the show change so drastically in a span of days, you know? As opposed to people who watched live over the years. You’ll need a few episodes to get over the shock.
The way you guys are feeling that "change" feeling gives such good vibes. I am very happy you gave this show a try and continue to love it in the way you have, are and will do. Thanks for the amazing breakdown once again--super interesting to watch you guys again. Have a good one ^^
I understand the feeling of confusion and unfamiliarity now that the story developed deeper and into a new context. But the story continues to be so epic and everything is put together so incredibly well, that the best thing is to process these feelings and cherish the story even more - it didn't even hit the climax yet. As always, I can't wait to watch the next reactions!
was waiting for your reaction to this particular episode since i started watching your channel and you guys did not disappoint........The world-building in AOT is just phenomenal and like you said the fact that how close to real world this reveal was is the reason AOT is awesome......and one tiny misunderstanding is that "Revenge" isn't the thing Eren is drunk on, its FREEDOM, and its understandable why you thought it was revenge and you guys got all the other characters' drugs perfectly. Great Reaction guys, waiting for season 4!!
I like your take on the king's choice to wipe the memories of his people. Some people may call it cowardice which makes sense on a geopolitical level, but it's also a breath of fresh air to see people discuss more about the opposite mentality. I feel like as you age you lean more towards "ignorance is bliss" because curiosity isn't worth it anymore.
You guys are so educated and rational. I would love to be friends with you. Damn it would be aweosme to talk to you guys for hours. I turned into a fan here. Sorry for the simping.
The parralllels to Germany were hiding in plan sight since the start. Yeiger, Armin, Erwin, Braus, Reiner, Berrtholdt. These are German names and I suspect other characters have German names as well.
How were they "hiding" at all? His name's Jäger, the show opens with German in it and there are German references everywhere, very deliberately. It's not hidden at all. It's the subversion of the usual trope that's the real surprise. Usually mangaka just add German names when they want a cool foreign name, because of history reasons (honestly not really the best idolization), but in this show that's spun on its head and the "German" people are actually the ones being oppressed and seen as inferior.
If you notice, after Dina is trying to console Grisha and tell him she will find him somehow, as Dina is falling, right after getting kicked off the wall, through her tears, she is smiling.
32:40 i like the way you put it "Everyone needs something to survive" Police guy: cruelty Kenny: power Erwin: knowledge Eren: revenge Mikasa: protecting Eren Armin: hope Jean: the most reletable
45:29 not really FOR his people. remember the king holds the power of the founding titan and had control over the power of all other titans. so eldians had the high ground over marleyans. the marleyans ONLY rose up and subjugated eldians BECAUSE the eldian king turned away from conflict, abandoned some of his people on the mainland and hid inside the walls on Paradis Island :)
After this episode, I expected a very long discussion and I thank you for that. I love your reaction and discussion after. I love how you put the pieces together, I very much enjoy it guys. ❤ And also you got a lot of questions answered in this episode, you just have to put them together, hahaha.
Your reaction this whole ep😂😂 this is one of my fav eps, how they conveyed to us every little detail was amazing. If you looked at all the titans you'll notice they're the same titans from S1 ep 5. Now I'm so excited for your reaction on S4👀
I've been waiting for the reaction of this episode from episode 1. I love you guy's reaction so much. Can't wait to see the reaction of season 4 for real...!!! I'm always supporting you guys! From your Japanese fan
I get the feeling Austin is a little disappointed with the new direction of the show. Seems like he had an expectation of it going in a certain direction and he was excited about it and Isayama hit a 180 degree turn that almost, from a certain perspective, invalidates the significance of a lot of the events through seasons 1-3. I felt the same way around the end of season 3 and beginning of season 4, but trust that by the end of it this new direction will win you back. It's well done and from this point in the show the threads get tied together in a way that makes you think, "Yea I was hoping for X, but Y is really satisfying too."
If you have any OVAs you still want to watch, do it before Season 4. The gap between seasons 3 and 4 is the cut-off point, because Season 4 feels so different from everything that came before.
Love the little callback regarding dreams. "I just had a very long dream. Are you crying, Eren?" And then Eren makes the correction that it's not a dream, but a memory. Which puts the very first episode into a new perspective. A slightly disappointing, but interesting perspective, that ties together beginning and end.
28:27 Basically everyone after this episode ahah loved the reactions guys, maybe rewatch this ep one more time to have it all clear but you catcthed up on most things, it's difficult to see the whole picture right after this episode where they throw at you all this info
In one of the first episodes they mentioned that the titans came from the south but then don't know how or where from. The dock is on the south side of Paradis island or "where the walls are"

Maybe that's the true nature of humanity...(?)
Already commented on the Patreon post but wanted to share my thoughts here too.
I love this show so much.
shit I just now realize that that officer was literally standing ON the 4th wall: Sina, Rose, Maria, the wall at the dock *mind blown*
@@iamai_iggs That's a nice catch!! Never thought of that
Can't say how much I love Attack on Titan and your reactions...
This one and the next are my favorite episodes!
I love how you guys piece together every detail you can think of and make sense of it. Not a lot of people can do that hence why I enjoy watching your reactions. Was fully entertained the whole way. Love from the UK!
The owl theme is one of the best tracks in the OST. Sawano doesn't miss.
The Owl and Beast titan’s theme is just *chef’s kiss* for me
Dude, I really love to see your reactions to Attack on Titan.
From the way you're analysing all this information and giving your thoughts, I know you will love season 4.
Literally the most honest and professional reaction channel in youtube keep up the good work♥️🔥
You guys connected a lot of the dots pretty quickly, especially given how much information there is in this episode. Good stuff!
i get touched when you say 'our' like 'they're sending titans to OUR people!!" like damn right that's our people
Poor Elwin he can’t know these things before he dies.
this is one of the best episodes, so many plot twists and informations, simply awesome!
The introduction is over, welcome to the real AoT! The ride is going to be (even more) wild
It's being great to follow you both throughout it. 😊
AOT has been real since the first episode
"Tell me who, who the hell would want to kill people by their own choice?" - Bertholdt
32:58 Eren's is also freedom - very big point
The way you guys are feeling that "change" feeling gives such good vibes. I am very happy you gave this show a try and continue to love it in the way you have, are and will do. Thanks for the amazing breakdown once again--super interesting to watch you guys again. Have a good one ^^
the whole show was teasing the audience for the first 3 seasons and suddenly drop 80% of the lore in 20 minutes
Ive been refreshing TH-cam for 3 days. 3 DAYS!!
S3 - Everything Changes
S4 - Everything Changes, again
47:56 Just like Mikasa's quote, "This world is cruel. It is also very beautiful."
was waiting for your reaction to this particular episode since i started watching your channel and you guys did not disappoint........The world-building in AOT is just phenomenal and like you said the fact that how close to real world this reveal was is the reason AOT is awesome......and one tiny misunderstanding is that "Revenge" isn't the thing Eren is drunk on, its FREEDOM, and its understandable why you thought it was revenge and you guys got all the other characters' drugs perfectly.
Amazing discussion! Love to hear your theories and analysis of the storyy
You guys are so educated and rational. I would love to be friends with you. Damn it would be aweosme to talk to you guys for hours. I turned into a fan here. Sorry for the simping.
From this moment on, things are about to change drastically. Buckle up boys, yall are in for a ride!!
I wish I have a brother to be excited and discussing those together
I already knew everything I just watched, but this reaction still had me like "Slow down please, need time to process"
You guys such a treat to watch. What a great discussion afterwards!
The blonde guy that got kicked off the wall right next to Grisha is Falco’s uncle apparently
All the titan shown in this episode has been shown before. The Santa Claus titan was the one that ate Eren in ep 1x05. Too bad he didn’t chew
32:40 i like the way you put it
"Everyone needs something to survive"
Police guy: cruelty
Kenny: power
Erwin: knowledge
Eren: revenge
Mikasa: protecting Eren
Armin: hope
Jean: the most reletable
Jean needs to be the most relatable in order to survive XD
dude I cannot WAIT to see their reactions to what's gonna happen next in the show, this is too good
Your reactions are the greatest! It feels like I’m hanging out with the boys watching their reactions and seeing everything unfold
That’s the best part
Love seeing fans react to this episode specifically.
Wow you've hit some very intersting topics in the discussion, which I totally I agree with
After this episode, I expected a very long discussion and I thank you for that. I love your reaction and discussion after. I love how you put the pieces together, I very much enjoy it guys. ❤ And also you got a lot of questions answered in this episode, you just have to put them together, hahaha.
9:40 "Oh My God" when you have no clue that you have only witnessed 5% of this episode reveals and so more to come next season XD
21:54 dude! I never thought of that! That was so mindblowing
loved the reaction but i cant help but laugh because at 0:15 the perspective makes Austin look twice as big as Shane lol
Was looking for this comment lmao I had to double check when I started the video HAHAH Austin got the colossal Titan it seems
Your reaction this whole ep😂😂 this is one of my fav eps, how they conveyed to us every little detail was amazing. If you looked at all the titans you'll notice they're the same titans from S1 ep 5. Now I'm so excited for your reaction on S4👀
4:08 No, Survey Cops has the three titans.
colossal, founding, and the one that Grisha originally have
I've been waiting for the reaction of this episode from episode 1.
I love you guy's reaction so much.
Can't wait to see the reaction of season 4 for real...!!! I'm always supporting you guys!
From your Japanese fan
That was such an interesting discussion!!! I literally didn’t skip any of it!!
The episode we’ve all been waiting for ❤️
I get the feeling Austin is a little disappointed with the new direction of the show.
I didn't get this at all. I got the feeling that he was just trying to put it all together
If you have any OVAs you still want to watch, do it before Season 4. The gap between seasons 3 and 4 is the cut-off point, because Season 4 feels so different from everything that came before.
the perspective of the two and the way they’re sitting in the beginning makes bro on the right look huge compared to bro on the left lmao
22:12 I’ve rewatched this show atleast 5x and just realized this... amazing theory, could actually be true
I loved that moment of silence at the end of the episode.
in tonight's show, we'll be playing "Name That Titan".
That Day
"When a Fictional story become a Realistic one..!"
The dock is on the south side of Paradis island or "where the walls are"
Also, The Bros are at the Other Side of the Sea now. You may want to swim/ sail to catch up and Sasageyo on Patreon if you’re willing or able to ♥️👌🏻
_P.S : The Blu-Ray version is lit_ 😉
they on s4?
if yes did they watch the trailer?
@@jamescharlestheminorbender750 nope 😁 go blind without seeing trailer is better
@@jamescharlestheminorbender750 yup, S4 is out on Patreon
I think your "P.S" confirms it but just to be painfully sure, are they watching the blu ray version of S4? Thanks for all your diligent comments always Hisu!
