I just love how Sasha's death paid off, it had a great impact on the story and the whole character development of Gabi revolved around Sasha's death and the whole Kaya thing. It just blows my mind how well thought all of it was. Our beloved potato girl didn't die in vain
Mikasa always remembered the Eren who wrapped the scarf around her, gave her warmth, showed her kindness and she derived strength vis-a-vis considering him as her warmth, comfort and home. Her fear of losing him, makes her fiercely overprotective of him but she has often been blinded of a darker side of his. A 9 year old slaughtering people with such rage...it isn't normal and Mikasa never recognized the horror of it and now, given what Eren has been doing, she is reminded of this-ab innate rage he always possessed.
I noticed that too! At first I was like "yes, those kidnappers had it coming!" Later, I realized how insane it was for a little kid to wild out like that. He stabbed three grown men to death with a murderous rage...
She is the personification of 'the world is cruel but also very beautiful'. She suffered too many cruel situations since she was a child, that she had to normilize violent self defense responses in order to survive, and yet she never lost her own criteria/own set of values. She never stopped calling Eren out when he went through the wrong path, and kept trying to protect him and love him :'). She is honestly such a good and wholesome character.
Yes, yet I think Mikasa isn't blinded by the darker side of his. She's completely aware since she have seen his desires by "slaughtering all of my enemies until they're destroyed" as well the fact that she never tolerated his actions. She never missed to say that he's wrong. After reading the manga, I've realized that Mikasa is the freest character in AOT. From S1 to S4 she's the only character who didn't change and have the same views in the world.
This episode is titled "Deceiver", but it is reversed in the anime with the next episode's title. In the manga, this chapter was called "Guides", for it showed us how Mikasa and Sasha's actions became ideals to live by for the girls they have saved under different circumstances.

I think the speciality of "iceburst stone" is firepower. When making a flying machine such as 3D-ODM gear or airplane, it must be very light compared to the firepower that its fuel can produce to float. Marley and the world have yet to find such fuel, so they are using a Blimp that uses the buoyancy of light air, not a regular airplane. However, "Iceburst stone" allowed Hizuru to build a regular airplane for two years, and that was the first plane from the AOT world.

This was what I’ve been meaning for you guys both to get that (cheap sudden) death of sashas’ out of your system. Isayama is cruel but overall for me, sashas death was justified through the scenes she’s being brought up in this season, it was really comforting seeing how much she impacted these characters💓
“Gabi has a little too much rage and angst.” Sound like anyone else we know? That was Eren for 50+ episodes. I appreciate that you guys are somewhat sympathetic towards Gabi, though. It’s easy to hate her for what she did, but she I literally female Eren by design. She a victim of circumstance just like everyone else.
theres more to it than that. Gabi is hardheaded, brainwashed, and close-minded in a way that Eren isn't. She keeps calling them devils, even after seeing their kindness and how Falco is interacting with them. She cannot comprehend how the world isn't simply black and white. Eren, on the other hand, realizes that everyone is the good guy in their own mind. His whole talk with Reiner shows that he understands how the world works, and that he is the bad guy to some people. He realizes that everything is gray. Gabi as a character would be a whole lot more enjoyable if she quit being a brat and opened her mind even just a little. If she doesn't, she will continue to be insufferable and learn the hard way

When I say she’s Eren, I’m comparing her to Season 1 episode 2, gnashing-his-teeth-at-the-world, f everyone, I’m-gunna-kill-them-all Eren. Obviously she isn’t season 4 Eren. The attack in Liberio was days ago. Eren WAS a stubborn, narrow minded brat for 3 seasons and almost everyone single character called him one at one point or another, sometimes lovingly, but all the same. Look at AoT in 9 min. That WAS Eren. That being said, Eren has a whole different set of circumstances to overcome during his journey with the Founder and his feeling like he’s personally responsible for the deaths of hundreds of his friends and comrades along the way as the proclaimed savior of the walls. Additionally, the Paradis Eldians were literally brainwashed/mind wiped. Eren also had trouble seeing anything other than black and white. Armin pegs Annie for the Female and Eren can’t believe she’s anything other than a friend right up to the point he nearly dies. He does the same thing with the other Warriors but he’s slowly learning and pops off, but only after they are already escaping with him. Then the whole scene in the trees right after again demonstrated how he wanted to not be so rash, but he just couldn’t get out of his own way. And would you say Eren didn’t learn the hard way? Over and over again. The difference is our perspective of having followed Eren from the beginning and getting a lot more inner monologue to justify some of his actions. I don’t disagree it’s more nuanced than just A is B, but Isayama even said Gabi’s character model was drawn to be a female version of Eren. He almost couldn’t be more literal. I also agree Gabi is incredibly frustrating as a character. My point was simply that so was Eren, but we afforded him time for a character arc. They both remind me of Thorfinn. 😆 But at the end of the day it’s like the Owl said; the only truth is that there is no truth, right? A person is whatever people believe them to be. That’s the whole point of the show. And like Onyankopon said; Aren’t we free to believe what we want? 🙂

That Shallot and Gabi scene is my favourite scene out of all this Gabi's VA really just delivers those screams perfectly, I sometimes wonder if her Vocal Cords are stronger than Erwin's steel balls😂

yup, that scene where mikasa touched her scarf (after she saw louise salute, it reminded her of getting stabbed in the heart which i’ll explain more in later episodes) she then gets flashbacks of when eren killed those bad guys, but the flashback was more eerie bc the way she sees eren due to this whole situation is starting to change
This goes to show you one heck of a genius writer Isayama is. No show has done anything close to this level by tying up so many plot points and make them go full circle. A character that was supposed to die in S2 had been delayed to S4 to cause an even bigger impact to the entirety of the show. AoT is unmatched, period.

I always rewatch the entire series before a new season & I just recently started my rewatch. I'm 4 episodes in so far & even then, Mikasa was getting the flashbacks with headaches. It's crazy that I never really noticed it, I thought it was just a new thing this season. I'm not a manga reader so I wonder if they'll explain it later, or maybe it's self explanatory & it just flew over my head. Lol
The scene when she asks them why her mother died like that is awesome. You can actually see how Marley brainwashed Eldians there, and you can also hear in Gabi's voice the struggle between what she's been taught her whole life and what she's seeing from those devils now. Also, the scene with Hanji saying she's tired, I love her so much and it was so sad watching her like this.

Sasha was to be dead when she faced a titan in s3. But the editor advised Isayama not to kill Sasha since she was a popular character. After all, Isayama came up with a godlike(or "devillike") way to kill Sasha.
Regarding the characters this episode showed to get across how things are in a cycle, it is cool how they're all from each season (Louise from S1, Kaya from S2, and the priest guy from S3).

I think the TH-camr "Totally Not Mark" gave the best Eren/Reiner parallel. He said that Eren (the Attack Titan) is an active protagonist that was forced to be defensive while Reiner (the Armored Titan) is an passive antagonist that was forced to be offensive. Like a spear forced to defend and a shield forced to attack. But now the role has been reversed. The Armored Titan, the titan that was used to attack is now defending, like a shield. And the Attack Titan, the titan that was the defender is now moving forward, like a spear.
"Totally Not Mark" is a horrible reviewer and misses heavily on notes about AoT. Reiner is never a "passive" antagonist to even begin with, he made the active choice to pursue the warrior status and insisted that Annie and Bertholdt continue with the infiltration. Murdering Marco, revealing his own identity, capturing Eren, working with Zeke in the battle of Shiganshina up to this point where he's advising Marley to launch the counter-attack immediately completely defies the statement that Reiner is a "passive" antagonist. Arguably, Eren's attack titan was used to reclaim Wall Maria in an offensive state while Reiner's armor titan was used to defend a claimed territory. So technically it's not completely accurate to label Eren as a defensive spear and Reiner as an offensive shield. That's a bit off.
Man this is getting harder to watch each ep haha! So excited to watch the most-awaited season part 4 with you bros. Hey Shane and Austin, we're glad your expanding your anime catalogue. Since you bros mentioned about your favorite element of a show is the Relationship between characters, and if I may recommend, you should watch/react to HunterxHunter(2011). They did such a great job building the bonds between characters(even villains -- you'll love em too since they're dynamically written). Like AoT it also gets better every succeeding Arc and the overall tone changes, too. To sum it all up, it's just a beautifully crafted story of a coming of age and a blossoming of friendship. By the way it's considered by fans as one of the best-- if not the best-- Shonen battle series. Anyways we really appreciate your content.
Hell no, there’s literally no theory when watching that overrated junk. Literally a bunch of random arcs with no real connection to each other and an underwhelming (current) ending. Even the shows villains have no real agenda, they’re literally cliche villains with no interesting reasons why they are the way they are. They’ll watch the episode and end up discussing for 3 minutes and that’s it, there’s no storyline to predict or theorise. Stop recommending it

I don’t disagree it’s more nuanced than just A is B, but Isayama even said Gabi’s character model was drawn to be a female version of Eren. He almost couldn’t be more literal. I also agree Gabi is incredibly frustrating as a character. My point was simply that so was Eren, but we afforded him time for a character arc. They both remind me of Thorfinn. 😆 But at the end of the day it’s like the Owl said; the only truth is that there is no truth, right? A person is whatever people believe them to be. That’s the whole point of the show. And like Onyankopon said; Aren’t we free to believe what we want? 🙂

This goes to show you one heck of a genius writer Isayama is. No show has done anything close to this level by tying up so many plot points and make them go full circle. A character that was supposed to die in S2 had been delayed to S4 to cause an even bigger impact to the entirety of the show. AoT is unmatched, period.

This is the episode I will never forget coz it made me depress particularly the exchange between Gabi and the good lass.
I always rewatch the entire series before a new season & I just recently started my rewatch. I'm 4 episodes in so far & even then, Mikasa was getting the flashbacks with headaches. It's crazy that I never really noticed it, I thought it was just a new thing this season. I'm not a manga reader so I wonder if they'll explain it later, or maybe it's self explanatory & it just flew over my head. Lol

You can actually see how Marley brainwashed Eldians there, and you can also hear in Gabi's voice the struggle between what she's been taught her whole life and what she's seeing from those devils now. Also, the scene with Hanji saying she's tired, I love her so much and it was so sad watching her like this.

I think the TH-camr "Totally Not Mark" gave the best Eren/Reiner parallel.
He said that Eren (the Attack Titan) is an active protagonist that was forced to be defensive while Reiner (the Armored Titan) is an passive antagonist that was forced to be offensive.
Like a spear forced to defend and a shield forced to attack. But now the role has been reversed.
The Armored Titan, the titan that was used to attack is now defending, like a shield. And the Attack Titan, the titan that was the defender is now moving forward, like a spear.
"Totally Not Mark" is a horrible reviewer and misses heavily on notes about AoT. Reiner is never a "passive" antagonist to even begin with, he made the active choice to pursue the warrior status and insisted that Annie and Bertholdt continue with the infiltration. Murdering Marco, revealing his own identity, capturing Eren, working with Zeke in the battle of Shiganshina up to this point where he's advising Marley to launch the counter-attack immediately completely defies the statement that Reiner is a "passive" antagonist.
Arguably, Eren's attack titan was used to reclaim Wall Maria in an offensive state while Reiner's armor titan was used to defend a claimed territory. So technically it's not completely accurate to label Eren as a defensive spear and Reiner as an offensive shield. That's a bit off.

Hey Shane and Austin, we're glad your expanding your anime catalogue. Since you bros mentioned about your favorite element of a show is the Relationship between characters, and if I may recommend, you should watch/react to HunterxHunter(2011). They did such a great job building the bonds between characters(even villains -- you'll love em too since they're dynamically written). Like AoT it also gets better every succeeding Arc and the overall tone changes, too. To sum it all up, it's just a beautifully crafted story of a coming of age and a blossoming of friendship. By the way it's considered by fans as one of the best-- if not the best-- Shonen battle series.

Hell no, there’s literally no theory when watching that overrated junk. Literally a bunch of random arcs with no real connection to each other and an underwhelming (current) ending. Even the shows villains have no real agenda, they’re literally cliche villains with no interesting reasons why they are the way they are. They’ll watch the episode and end up discussing for 3 minutes and that’s it, there’s no storyline to predict or theorise. Stop recommending it
