as a career carpenter if there was one thing i could suggest for future projects is a small hand router. you can do almost anything you need to do in a woodshop with a router and small handful of different bits. That said this project is going really well and i keep finding myself wishing i had the room for a cockpit setup myself lol
Thanks for the tip! As it happens to be, I just came from the workshop since I had few hours to continue with the project and did few dados with my hand router. And I realized I really should have used it before. :D I just desperately need better bits for it, now most of them are really bad. (It’ll take few weeks before I have the material and time to edit to get these parts to TH-cam. But I should have the side cabinet episode out next week.)
Absolutely amazing series! Thank you for showing us each step of the build! Apologies if i'm overstepping here but I do notice you have Dyspnea - A shortness of breath, inability to finish sentences in one breath. Usually indicates some form of underlying heart condition... All good if you have it checked out before!
The 3D model of this setup if available on my website: www.undeadparrot.com/simpit-3d-model-star-citizen-dcs/ and I just recently upgraded the setup with 180 degree curved screen, so check that one out too: th-cam.com/video/EfFCBRN1yhk/w-d-xo.html
First of all, i love your work. I hope we will see some really nice clips in the future of your project. I've printed some parts with my anicubic i3 mega and already bought a Chiron after 1.5 years owning it. I don't have the space to put up a whole rig like you but i've put some buttons on my VKB. Would love to see some of your 3D engeniering later!
Thanks! To be honest, I'm not much of a 3d model maker but I can make some basic stuff. I have quite a few DiY panels upcoming in the later episodes of the series.
Hi, in your first video you mentioned, that you´re planning to use 4 sheets of 21mm thick plywood. Could you please tell me, what the raw dimensions of those sheets are and what kind of wood you´re using (Birch, Spruce, Poplar etc). I just checked some prices online and I´m still recovering from the heart attack I got from this. I know wood prices went through the roof this year - but this.... For example - 1 sheet 21mm birch plywood 3000mm x 1500mm costs around 400.-€
Hey. I'm using pine plywood sheets, 1200 x 2400 mm in size, that was something like under 70 € / sheet. It's not that good quality. Birch plywood would be much nicer but also much more expensive. What I have planned is just using some time with finishing the stuff since I want to get rid of the wood texture anyway.

Thanks for the comment. It's not actually an issue when I'm speaking Finnish, seems to have something to do with how I speak a foreing languate.
I love those videos, and your work! Going to binge watch the series now
Thanks!

How do you cut the 7.5 degree angles on the edge?
Track saw. I managed to pick a good deal for Festool second-hand and really love it.
