This is one of the best songs ever written. I think because it’s so relatable to most people. I’ve realized humans are so much more alike then we think.
I think it’s inspirational to always be working towards something better 🥰

What would Tracey Chapman had done then? So you are saying he should have came on and performed his rendition or he and Tracey performed this rendition as a duet? Guess i'm not following. The tone on that tele is absolutely incredible.
People kinda hate on them for a couple of reasons, but the fender acoustasonic guitars are insanely good. They're also insanely expensive, but it's not really an instrument for a hobbyist as much as it is a professional tool.

@@jimmysupafly1547 Yeah it makes sense that the taylor would be better unplugged at the very least. Like I said, those Acoustasonic fenders are really meant for touring musicians. They've created a few product lines in the past few years with that idea in mind.
It is hard to cover a Tracy Chapman song because she is such an amazing artist with a uniqueness in her music, but this cover was great and by far my favorite cover of this song!
This is a very soulful performance, which is so lacking in our modern world!

Is it just me, or is this one of the most depressing songs ever written? It seems uplifting, but in the end, the whole thing just keeps on rolling, and no one ever "gets somewhere". Just the same old stories, repeating from father to son, mother to daughter. Grinding us down, generation after generation.

I disagree ballistic. In the last verse she says “I got a job that pays all our bills” and for him to “take your fast car and keep on driving”. I would argue that it’s a happy ending because she doesn’t need him or anyone else.
Also earlier in the song she had to put her life on hold to take care of her dad, and later take care of him since he wasn’t doing anything with his life, but now she’s kicking them out and living life for herself
This isn’t sad, it’s blues. So we cry a bit, get angry a bit, keep lovin’ a bit, grow a bit and keep singin the blues.
