I hadn't heard of this band until today. I went looking for the song that I heard playing on the Target commercial. When I listened to it, I found myself subscribing immediately, and watching a bunch of other videos. And of course I shared it.
This has got to be one of the best bands out there making music right now. Just gorgeous! I can listen to the Pumas for hours on end. Please keep writing more music!!
Black Pumas: one of the greatest news bands. A beautiful reminder that is not all and only Pop single acts and that new good bands are still out there making great music and breaking into the mainstream. More of them, more of this, please
Great observation. And you're correct. The 70s was such a great era for music. Record stores were a trip. Concerts were cheap, like 5 dollars, and they normally featured at least 2 bands, sometimes 3. Black Pumas are fantastic.
70s, 80s, and 90s. Occasionally the opposite would happen. Then you would just want to take the record out, and throw it like a frisbee. But when you got something great you spent time with it like a new best friend. This band sounds like a new best friend.
This is one of the best live performances I've ever heard. The sound reminds me a bit of Curtis Mayfield, but it's so much more than soul and funk revival. There is strong rock here as well. Who could possibly dislike?
It was a coincidence to have heard the music of Black Pumas, a great combination of sounds of both the instruments and the vocalization. They're amazing.

Takes me back to my old days... "Drown in my own tears", "Love and Happiness", "Pain in my Heart", Ray Charles' "Shake a Tail Feather"... some heavy reggae beats & sounds, and oh so many more! Those beats & sounds will never get old.

After watching this performance I quickly tried to find tix to see them live, even if I had to travel! The heaven's heard my prayers and I scored two tix to now see them in my hometown at Denver's Mission Ballroom! Literally the only band I care to see this year, the soul of the music speaks to me on a deep level!

SO PUMPED when he gets that guitar turned up @ 5:21 and you can feel his energy soar! the moment Adrian drops in that INCREDIBLE tone and slides down the neck, Eric is just soaking in the amazing atmosphere of sound they've created and snaps his soul into the groove right @ 5:29. you can SEE the chills running down his spine in real time. TURN UP THE VOLUME! the Black Pumas are KILLING IT this year and Eric knows it! what a great moment. god bless NPR and KEXP in these rough times for artists and music lovers...

Pure nostalgia and rare. I mean this band captures that lightning in a bottle and serves the chills. I love them.
Every time Eric talks it just blows my mind. Such a powerful singer, yet so softspoken with a gentle disposition.
