    Have to watch out for those older lcd monitors. It may look good for now. There are problems with the burn in screen when hooking up with a pc. Crt has those problems too. Looks good for now.

    Need the screen savers to prevent burn in in the old monitors. Very important. Modern lcd pc monitors now have virtually no problems at all for the screen burn in. Don't need a screen saver these days.

    I've been using CRTs as my main PC and gaming monitor for 5 or 6 years now. They're becoming harder and harder to find in my region, so I had to give in at some point, so I bought 2 DELL 1901FP LCD monitors for cheap, as replacements if I ever needed. My last CRT at the time gave its last breath and I had to replace it sooner than I thought. But man, I couldn't get used to the LCD: I immediately noticed the LCD blur in the video when you switched, very common from DELLs of this era. The colors in mine aren't as vivid as on yours, and I think the diffusion layer might be deteriorating, because the backlight is leaking more than it should. I saw that that's a common fault, and it's not that hard to replace the layer, and even have it modded with LED backlights, but I just didn't bother. Had one of the LCDs traded for a 17" LG CRT, and that's what I'm using right now XD.

      Thanks for the information. I could notice the difference myself. I hope both of mine last a long time. So do you use emulators on your pc?

    • @ClaytonCLF
      @ClaytonCLF 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoeRetroWorld Yes, emulators are my main use for PC CRTs. I've created a ton of custom resolutions in the GPU driver settings, so I can play NES / SNES at 256x224@130Hz or N64 / PSX at 320x240@120Hz! I was crazy enough to make a custom 256x192@150Hz resolution to play Nintendo DS games, and it works wonders. I've also set the CRT to 320x200@144Hz to play old PC games, like DOOM and Quake. I have some videos on my channel showing those CRT scanlines, which aren't really supposed to be showing on VGA CRTs, but they're very crisp!

      @@ClaytonCLF nice, I see videos of game play at those levels. I know in person it has to look awesome. I love my Dell E773c and my Ikegami TM20-90RH. People that have never tried them just don't get how much better the games look in person. I am saving up to get a computer to do the same. Saturn on a CRT monitor at 120hz would be awesome. Thanks for stopping by, Happy gaming.

    really tough to compare lcd and crt without being there in person.

      It really is, in person they both look awesome. The only difference is the type of monitor that's it.

      I really do, Emulating all the systems and then playing on the crt monitor at 240p 120hz would be nice.

    Have you ever come across DPMS mode on a computer CRT?… mine only does when attempting to connect a modern system via HDMI to VGA… it works fine on the desktop

    • @JoeRetroWorld
      @JoeRetroWorld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't now what that is? I only use the Dell crt monitor with my dreamcast. What does that mode do?

    • @oliverpuhp8287
      @oliverpuhp8287 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoeRetroWorld it seems like a mode that automatically goes on as a powere saver… it’s fine when connected to the pc… but then I connect the switch and it starts turning off…I need to get a Dreamcast vga to try it with that too

    • @JoeRetroWorld
      @JoeRetroWorld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oliverpuhp8287 ok, this Dell E773c crt monitor does that when connected to a Xbox360 but not the dreamcast. My New Dell 1703FP also goes into sleep mode with the xbox360 also but not the dreamcast. It would be nice if the dreamcast did this. This would save the power button.

    I have the same Dell CRT. I use it mostly with batocera on a PC. I run my Dreamcast, PS2, and sometimes Nintendo Switch on my Trinitrons. Did you notice any controller lag with the LCD?

      No, I will go back and double check now that you ask. I will get back with you on what I find.
