Just picked one up from a local shop and thought to search for it on TH-cam. I'm glad you did a video on this fella. It's now in my own little mouse gun collection. Cheers mate.
I enjoy your reviews. I especially liked the Jimenez JA9 review. I found a deal on a used one last week. As far as the Protec line of pistols goes they never made or sold any in 22. I had their color catalog back in 91/92 and it showed the pistol and claimed that the 22 caliber version was coming soon but it never did. I know because I called and asked them several times about trying to get one. I was never a fan of the 25 Auto round but I would like to try one of these. I like the snag free no sights part and the DA only feature.
I carried one for many years in back pocket till I got a SW Bodyguard 380. It was great gun and I think I bought it new for 100 bucks. The finish wore off and I traded it in during a gun buyback in a bigger city and got a 250 dollar gift certificate. I would like the original CZ and if they remade it with a polymer frame Id be all over that. I love the heel mag release for a pocket gun as this attracted me to this gun plus the dao..as it didn't pop out the mag when I carried in back pocket. People allways complain about this but its perfect for real self defense and real daily carry. Super slim.
I bought one at a local gun store almost a year ago it’s a neat little gun. I was thinking the same thing as you someone should produce a modern polymer version I think it would sell well.
I inherited a .22 Jennings and an Intratec Tec22. I love both and because of you videos I am seriously looking into getting a Jennings/Jimenez .25, or something simular.
well, that's 1 pistol I never heard of!! I tend to watch your videos slightly more than Hickok45 (a real Southern Gentleman) . When I'm bored and have plenty of time, I'll watch Nutnfancy. Kudos to you, sir!!
I love these videos. 2 questions. 1, was the serial number scratched off at one time on the blued gun? 2, Are you gonna do some videos on small caliber revolvers? 32 H&R, 32 S&W, 32 Long Colt
+mozzberg Thanks Mozz, the frame is rubbed on the serial number but it's not unreadable. I'm not sure what the story is. As far as other Mouse guns, revolvers would be a good addition. We'll see what happens and I like the idea.
I just got one of these for a sweet deal really am impressed with the way the pistol functions I've put 100 rounds through it with no problems definitely going to be my new Pocket Gun for a backup also ebay has these firing pins in stainless steel as well as titanium
I would PAY (Yes, PAY) to see the top 10 gun reviews on TH-cam go out and run and gun together. They are all different with different uses for their weapons... but it would be epic. Hickok, Sootch, Tim, Nutn, Scout, IV8888... I know a lot you guys are at Shot or at the IV8888 shoot, but it would be EPIC (overused word, but this would fit) to watch you guys run around in the desert with nutn. Similar to the TH-cam all-star series that nutn did YEARS ago...
I had a Protec-25 passed down to me many years back. I was wondering if you could shed some light on a question I've had since I've owned the pistol? Every individual part(that's large enough), including the magazine, is engraved with "07HV00432 HH 1A" and these numbers do not coincide with the serial number. Thanks for any insight and I really enjoyed your review of this pistol. - Marcus from Alabama
I have read some comments of older peopole or sick who have arthritis or reumathism in their hands and couldnt handle recoil. Most of them take a .22lr but .25 acp would be also a solution for them and even a little better.
I bet it recoils less than the lcp why does everyone seem to ignore physics especially if someone doesn't have a lot of strength the elderly small women weak men at 380 in a tiny package can kick a lot I've got a micro 9mm I can handle it but I've also got a micro 22 and I feel much more confident with my shot placement with the .22. I work construction so my grip strength isn't an issue it's just physics.
Yes, the .32 actually seems like a great compromise. Most everyone thinks you have to go .380 or bigger but that makes for a lot more recoil and maybe even more important muzzle blast. I wish more manufacturers would revive the .32s.
This gun is very slick and comfortable feeling compared to the cz45, slightly larger though.I have both, yup parts are a premium.Mine is like new and has a plastic bumper on the recoil assembly that keeps the slide from hitting the frame when you rack it.
A friend of mine bought one of these new several years ago. It never did function right. The FFL he bought it from ended up taking it back and giving my friend his $ back. I am glad I got to see and fire one.I think he paid $75 for it.
@Ivan Snyder He bought it for a carry gun. It just wouldn't work. It had a lot of light primer hits and would jam at least once on every mag. My buddy ended up getting a North American Arms 22 mini revolver after the dealer took it back. I bought one of their 22 Scorpion "assault pistols" that had a 30 round mag. Got it for $100. The mag that came with it had a broken follower, new, from the factory. But it took any Ruger 10-22 mag. It worked pretty good with those. I got some Ram-line plastic 30 rounders. I wish I would have kept it, but it's been traded years ago.
The good news is, now almost 7 years later, a stainless steel firing pin is available on ebay for $18.00! If anyone finds this video because they have one, as I do, you can now replace that. I haven't tried it yet, just ordered the firing pin today, but reviews are good. I've owned one of these since it was new and have a lot of fun with it. During the ammo shortage this one caliber I could find!
The CZ-45/Intratec Protec 25 are VERY easy to reverse engineer. In fact the LW Seecamp is very closely related to the CZ-45 in design, but in larger calibers like .380 and .32 Auto. The LW Seecamp is a tiny gun with a lot of wallop esp. in .380 and .32 for its size, they use a ring in the chamber to expand the fired brass into to delay blowback. This way they keep the gun small and slide light whilst maintaining larger caliber. Sootch, I'm sure you'd love the Seecamp and CZ-45. I also collect pocket pistols.
+TheFirearmEnthusiast I have a CZ Duo with a broken firing pin but I just ordered a replacement. The CZ 45 is definitely on the list but a little pricey. The Seecamp is also on the list.... it's a sickness! Lol! Thanks Brother
i got a nickel one 20 years ago, barely used for $75, keep it on my nightstand next to my Kel-Tec P-32 . picked up 1000 rounds of America Eagle FMJ from CTD a few years ago for $106! i have Glaser Blue safety slugs in it now.
when I was living in the city. in the mid 90s these were everywhere. . and the 22lr also. . now that I think of it, most of the intratec line was. . the tec-9 and tec-22. .plus a lot of other very very inexpensive, cheaply made products. . I always wondered why people originally bought them (I was seeing them with their second , or third owner). most of the line seemed like just fun novelty weapons for normal folks. . or street weapons once they got sick of them jamming
I can’t get my trigger to work on mine. Any help? I finally found an extractor and extractor spring. Thought that was all i needed. I was wrong and i need to fix the trigger or hammer. I can’t find schematics for it anywhere.
I seen one of these on armslist for $75 but I passed on it because of the caliber it was 25 acp I'm starting to think I should of got it after seeing what it can do cool video
How do you get the firing pin out? I have a new pin, but cant figure out how to get it out so I can put the new one in :) Hopefully you see this and can let me know. Thank you for the info. Robert
You may snicker about these small caliber pistols, but the fact remains if that bullet hits a vital organ or major artery you can kiss your ass goodbye. With that said I still prefer 9mm and bigger.
+Loquaciousgamer I understand that the 25 may not be lethal unless it hits a vital point, the fact remains I and I think a lot of people still wouldn't want to get shot by one
+iDreamOfWeenie I used to watch 'The First 48' pretty often and it was surprising how many people were killed with 22LR. They didn't get pumped full of bullets either, often just 2-3 but they are no joke.
saw a episode of First 48 where a scumbag got shot in the back with a single 22. he collapsed on his mother's lawn and that's where homicide found him. something strange about these small calibers that scare me.
+d0j0w0 We have plenty around here locally. Our Palmetto State Armory had 6 difference brands and lots of ammo. It runs around $14 for the cheap stuff. Thanks
Sootch, when do you will make your terrific review of the original, the Czech CZ45 (1947 build) ? She's a classic au pair with the Baby Colt, the Browning and the Beretta, with the unique DA trigger and smooth recoil giving her speed firing compensation for the faulting sights in close fighting up to 10 yards.. All the .25 / 6.35 babies were made to fire first as the surprise weapons they were conceived to be. First and fast with a 75 grain FMJ ammo at home or street defence can be a backup saver if one hasn't a .38 at hand. Just two little shots at the center chest bones and then one or two at the enemy's head (or vice-versa according his clothing) and he will be instantly unable to return effective fire from his Magnum. Supress the enemy's fire and hide / move / run. Keeping the initiative to shoot again --- if still needed. For historical and didactical reasons (of which you're unique at YT) the CZ45 deserves your review once the poor copy had its own. To consider, for instance, her perfect (for a pocket HG) recessed hammer, 8+1 load, material & finishing, reliability and assembly / disassembly proceedings, etc. In the meantime, thanks a lot for your labour of love on these personal defence weapons.
Its just a simple machine job, find a good local machine shop and drop off the broken pin. Just make sure they use something better than original, a super-steel like P2 would be good but honestly any good modern steel will do the trick. Plus if the price is right you could sell a few off on gunbroker.
Sootch, a gunsmith should be able to make you a copy of the same firing pin from drill rod (silver steel) in a few minutes, harden and anneal it. I'd do it myself for you, but I'm not in the US. It shouldn't cost too much to have them make you that simple firing pin. You just need to send them the broken one so they can take a few measurements and copy it.
Nice music! TECno music. Glad you didnt try to shoot across the hood of that Pick up truck of yours! But the .25 is not known for accuracy or knock down force at any range beyond 7ft.
Are there any studies about what happens when you shoot someone with a .25? Or my real concern .380? I figure I prob wouldn't shoot someone unless they have a gun. I can handle 99.9% of people in a fight so I think it is doubtful I would be attacked by an unarmed attacker and very unlikely I would ever be unable to just overpower an unarmed attacker. I carry because of concern about people with guns. If you hit someone with a .380, center mass, are the still going to shoot back accurately? I see all these people talking about "wound channels" and penetration but I keep thinking what matters is the actual impact knocking someone to their knees (like a 240 grain bullet might do). Is a .25 (or even .380) going to keep a guy from aiming and pulling the trigger?
cemetaries are full of people that died from 25 acp. people can be shot a dozen times with a 9mm and still attack you. its rare but it happens. shot placement to the brain case is more important then caliber. a 22lr to the braincase will kill someone more reliably then a 357 to the braincase since the 22lr will bounce around turning the brain into hamburger wheras the 357 will go through,
The Czechs did a good job of design on this. I have never understood why no American company made a copy of it right after 1968, when all the patents would have been expired and the Gun Control Act of 1968 kept almost all foreign 25 automatic out of the country. It would have been a much better gun than the S&W Model 61 "Escort". Not as cheap as a Raven, but a better carry piece.
A little 25 acp and a 22 lr or bigger can be effective,a 22 short?? Maybe a high velocity level short, might be ok for some things, or a 32 acp can work especially in longer barrel pistols, but they are excellent for CQB back up, , and most bad people don't want to get in a situation that require some type of resistant confortation, they want the victims to be vulnerable, and a 22 can still have a good effect on the vermin, but I always have a bigger gun, like 357 sig ,357 magnum, or something else in a large caliber, i don't just have a 22 or 32 or a 25 acp, but they might be enough to stop 🛑 a threat , but some situations are going to be different, and some people will have different levels of experience , my experience level is from military and military law enforcement and civilian law enforcement, but training and knowledgeable of the gun that you have and ability to use with confidence is the best, i have and used various calibers and semi auto pistols and revolvers and long guns and shot guns, most people can use small caliber pistols , ammo is easy to get and does not cost a lot for training or the ability to get use to a larger caliber or pistol, do your own research and training with various calibers and pistols that you can and use and with confidence, I prefer larger caliber pistols but I still have confidence with small ones also, they are tools , and you need the right one for the job, i don't have any particular preference, but I have some that work for me and some are Taurus ♉ haters and some are Glock haters, etc etc etc, Jennings and raven 🐦⬛, and rg pistols I still have most those last 3 mouse 🐀 gun types,i carried them for a back up in the early 80s in law enforcement and I still have them now and they function excellent, maybe 🤔 not the best choice or caliber today, but they still work and I can use them extremely well if they need to be employed for a bad situation , just above the belt area and just below 🤔it will make a bad guy, have a very bad day, might be a little caliber,22 ,25 ,32 acp or maybe a 380 , but those are the best for using a small caliber options
The Baby Browning and the many copies (and other guns that size) have been available for decades before this gun ever became available. I'm surprise they even bothered making these as large as they are, because of that. Many were still being manufactured at that time too. It's kind of a copy of those guns. Many of them have mechanical design and disassembly. I actually never realized how many modern firearms are very close or even direct copies of the Baby Browning and other similar firearms that were produced in the very early 1900's up to the 1940's. A lot of (if not most/all of) the Saturday Night Special guns were also copies of very old, early 1900's pocket guns. (or other guns that the pocket guns stole their designs from... because I don't know the full history of all the different mechanisms and take-down methods),
since you have a firing pin. see if a company will make you a some out of better metal. I'm sure if you order 20 of them it might be a good investment.
I do appreciate your liking of guns that a lot of people look down on. A gun doesn't have to have a specific utility to be fun or interesting.
I don't care what people say I had a 170 dollar 25 acp and it never jammed and was accurate. great video
I need one
You get a good one, hang on to it.
I bought one from a local gun shop $130. Pretty neat little gun.
If Smith & Wesson made a .25 Acp in their old steel-series pistols, I would fully expect it to look exactly like this. Great video,
Thanks!
That was my thought when i saw it. Instantly purchased one because of that.
Just picked one up from a local shop and thought to search for it on TH-cam. I'm glad you did a video on this fella. It's now in my own little mouse gun collection. Cheers mate.
I love going back and watching all these 25 auto videos
In a life or death situation. it beats having a stick defend yourself. keep the reviews coming Sootch00. (Thanks)
I love all these mouse gun reviews. One of these days I'm going to start a collection of my own.
I like Sootch's affinity for the small caliber obscure pistols. Always something interesting to learn.
Wouldn't mind having one, but for carry I'll take a Kel Tec P-32.
You might consider blueprinting the good firing pin. It might come in handy later.
sootch, I love your mousegun reviews... its a subject I have become very interested in lately and you are the go to guy on youtune. thanks
youtube* my bad lol
I never knew those pistols were out there. I like it, definitely would get one.
Looks like a mini s&w auto from the 90s era metal/aluminum single stack compact 39 series
I'm a nobody, but Sootch is the Quarter King Specialit (.25acp), Respect Big Guy!
Sootch00 you know how to sell a gun. Epic intro showing you shoot the dummy target. keep them coming. God bless brther.
I know a number of people who can't handle even the 380. A 25 acp would work better with their wrists. Great review.
He protec
He attac
But most importantly
He shoot back
I'm sorry I had to.
Don't worry buddy you beat me by like a second 😂
I own a cz92, but havent heard any good reviews on 25 acps...but its very easy to EDC lightweight and small...and looks nice too
You know, I really appreciate these cheap SNS pocket pistol vids you have.
Thanks man! I didnt even know about these particular pistols.

Very interesting. Not many DA out there. Makes it one of the few that you can carry with one in the pipe.
Is there ever really enough time to watch nutn?
+Bill Pohlman Thanks Bill, glad to bring something new to you and appreciate the kind words.
I love these videos. 2 questions. 1, was the serial number scratched off at one time on the blued gun? 2, Are you gonna do some videos on small caliber revolvers? 32 H&R, 32 S&W, 32 Long Colt

I just got one of these for a sweet deal really am impressed with the way the pistol functions I've put 100 rounds through it with no problems definitely going to be my new Pocket Gun for a backup also ebay has these firing pins in stainless steel as well as titanium
These are very popular pistols, can’t find them for sale anywhere and if you do, it sells fast.
Bought one today! Thanks brother
still have my Cat-9 and love the hand-feel of that arm
and without knowing about Kellgren, bought a PF9
I enjoy the "historical" gun reviews Sootch!
I like .32 acp alot more. But I have caught a fever of mouse guns, and now I have found one to look for. Thanks...
No sights point blank stomach pumper! My favorite is the old AMT Backup. Love the videos Sootch.
I fire a CZ-45 in South Africa and found it to be superb, much more preferable than the 950 Jetfire.
+rdjhardy Now that's really saying something. The Beretta 950 is my favorite 25 next to the Baby Browning.
*****
Thank-you, Sir. Your channel is firm viewing for me.
As a Bond fan I was desperate to like the Beretta, but CZ-45 was as close to being perfect.
This gun is very slick and comfortable feeling compared to the cz45, slightly larger though.I have both, yup parts are a premium.Mine is like new and has a plastic bumper on the recoil assembly that keeps the slide from hitting the frame when you rack it.
nice little mouse gun, thanks for the review
Like the way the music syncs with firing!

+mr bad example I would not fire Glaser Safety Slugs out of a Protec, they're too hot. Check the ballistics.
Blade Runner the Protec is a very solid pistol, i have it right here, Glasers aren't rated+P or anything, the're made to function in normal guns.
Picked one of these up for $150 today. Was instantly drawn to it. Neat little pistol.
Where did you find one at 150? A pawnshop or online
@@christownsend316 pawn shop. It took itself apart on the second magazine. Can’t find parts to save my life.

It's 2018 and 25 ACP is available. Around .30 - 35 cents a round. Still no problem getting it.
The slide and frame on these guns is die cast zinc, not steel or aluminum.

Rev Dr Jeff
Sootch, which one do you prefer between this and the Beretta 950BS? My 950 gave a bad slide bite.
Your amassing quite the mouse gun collection.
off topic but....any chance you'll be reviewing the walther pps m2 any time soon?
Love your vids, please keep them coming.
Another great museum piece.
Have you thought about doing a video on the Walther TPH? I think it is a classic mouse gun.
How do you get the firing pin out? I have a new pin, but cant figure out how to get it out so I can put the new one in :)
Hopefully you see this and can let me know. Thank you for the info. Robert
I have a good deal for one of these and a Ortgies 25, which do you like better?
How many 25cal do you own? I had a Beretta Jetfire 950 25cal at one point. I wish I never got rid of it.

I agree, even .22LR can and has been lethal. that said, why not carry at least a .380 since you can get one that's just as small as these?

You are Nr. 1 for gun reviews! May I ask, how many guns do you have in your collection?
Thanks for another interesting and informative video.
Hey Sooch, was this gun based on another model?
Sootch King of the Mouse Gun. Cool gun, keep them coming. Love the mouse guns. You could open a museum. Is it hard to find .25 ACP?
+d0j0w0 We have plenty around here locally. Our Palmetto State Armory had 6 difference brands and lots of ammo. It runs around $14 for the cheap stuff. Thanks
I have an old Colt auto 25 that I never carry but like to look at haha.
I'm waiting for a review on the Fns 40 from FNH!
how did you find 2 of these oldies lol cool pistol I have a fie Titan 25 , down side is even though it's small it's heavy.
+Eric Jeffries Gunbroker.com is a great resource for finding odd guns.

Why did you take down the videos where you had negligent discharges?
Awesome, man. Very helpful of you.
sootch was the serial number at one time attempted to have been scratched off? It looks mighty scuffed over the number
+Jared Bush Look like they started but didn't really get anywhere except rub off the finish.
+sootch00 oh ok, dang I bet that lil gun has seen some stuff in its way lol.
Have a machine shop turn a few out for you. Make sure it gets heat treated.
+sootch tried searching for the music with the info you provide can't find anything
+youtuber Check jinglepunks.com It's a royal free music site and the song is bandsaw.
***** Thanks still can't find it what genre is it in? I came across fullscreen but there's no song jinglepunks.com/work/fullscreen/
is the new Remington 380 a copy of this gun? they look similar.
No. Those are a copy of the Robaugh (probably not spelled right)
Luv doze mouse gun vids,,,,good job!!! 💥🔫 🍻
Nice pistols you need a CZ 50 32 acp lots of fun to shoot
Fun fact: Intratec also wanted to make same caliber carbine called Attac 25 ;3
Nice music! TECno music. Glad you didnt try to shoot across the hood of that Pick up truck of yours! But the .25 is not known for accuracy or knock down force at any range beyond 7ft.
I looks like someone has tried to remove the serial number from the blued gun.
Is a .25 (or even .380) going to keep a guy from aiming and pulling the trigger?
cemetaries are full of people that died from 25 acp. people can be shot a dozen times with a 9mm and still attack you. its rare but it happens. shot placement to the brain case is more important then caliber. a 22lr to the braincase will kill someone more reliably then a 357 to the braincase since the 22lr will bounce around turning the brain into hamburger wheras the 357 will go through,
Asp 9 vid?
The Czechs did a good job of design on this. I have never understood why no American company made a copy of it right after 1968, when all the patents would have been expired and the Gun Control Act of 1968 kept almost all foreign 25 automatic out of the country. It would have been a much better gun than the S&W Model 61 "Escort". Not as cheap as a Raven, but a better carry piece.
He Protec
He attac
But most importantly
He Intratec
If you use that gun without headset is it hurt? Because im training shooting real guns also
That dummy looks like something out of the Charlton Heston Omega Man.
Hahahaha
Dancing my ass off!!
+Primary Arms, LLC I want to see that on Video! Lol!
I love the mouse guns
A little 25 acp and a 22 lr or bigger can be effective,a 22 short?? Maybe a high velocity level short, might be ok for some things, or a 32 acp can work especially in longer barrel pistols, but they are excellent for CQB back up, , and most bad people don't want to get in a situation that require some type of resistant confortation, they want the victims to be vulnerable, and a 22 can still have a good effect on the vermin, but I always have a bigger gun, like 357 sig ,357 magnum, or something else in a large caliber, i don't just have a 22 or 32 or a 25 acp, but they might be enough to stop 🛑 a threat , but some situations are going to be different, and some people will have different levels of experience , my experience level is from military and military law enforcement and civilian law enforcement, but training and knowledgeable of the gun that you have and ability to use with confidence is the best, i have and used various calibers and semi auto pistols and revolvers and long guns and shot guns, most people can use small caliber pistols , ammo is easy to get and does not cost a lot for training or the ability to get use to a larger caliber or pistol, do your own research and training with various calibers and pistols that you can and use and with confidence, I prefer larger caliber pistols but I still have confidence with small ones also, they are tools , and you need the right one for the job, i don't have any particular preference, but I have some that work for me and some are Taurus ♉ haters and some are Glock haters, etc etc etc,
Jennings and raven 🐦⬛, and rg pistols
I still have most those last 3 mouse 🐀 gun types,i carried them for a back up in the early 80s in law enforcement and I still have them now and they function excellent, maybe 🤔 not the best choice or caliber today, but they still work and I can use them extremely well if they need to be employed for a bad situation , just above the belt area and just below 🤔it will make a bad guy, have a very bad day, might be a little caliber,22 ,25 ,32 acp or maybe a 380 , but those are the best for using a small caliber options
Where can I get this music?
+youtuber Jingle Punks Royalty free music. The title is "Bandsaw". Thanks
(or other guns that the pocket guns stole their designs from... because I don't know the full history of all the different mechanisms and take-down methods),
tamanho ideal para porta na cintura
Another great vid, thanks. Interesting, never heard of this one before. (New record "really"... 6 times in 15 seconds!) ;-)
the ruger is a copy of the Keltec P3AT. I like to see Keltec get the business.
5:28 someone tried to scratch the serial number off the blued one haha
Cool lil oddball
since you have a firing pin. see if a company will make you a some out of better metal. I'm sure if you order 20 of them it might be a good investment.
Still would rather have the intratec any day !!!
