Hi, and thanks for watching. We are glad you enjoyed it! Odd shots were taken with a GoPro 10 (plane window / moving safari jeep), but the majority was filmed with a Canon R5 and RF100-500 combo. I have to say that this combination is brilliant - excellent portability and good image quality. Some shots were taken on a Canon R7 and 600mm f4 combo, which is super for really tight shots / small subjects / distant animals. Much less portable though, so I only used this on the self drive portion of the trip (Kruger) as I could occupy the rear seat and shoot from both sides. I hope that helps!

@kirkandbear I'm doing a safari in timbavati and sabi sands on april this year,I just sold all my M43 cameras and lenses, and I am torn between the exact same setuo you took (canon r5 + 100-500) or the sony a7rv + 100-400 Gm taking advantage of the 61mp body to get more or less the same reach as the canon 100-500 in crop mode, I can get both setups for the exact same amount where I live.
If you were in my shoes without any gear on hand what would you choose for this trip, thank you very much, by the way those were some spectacular shots

@juanignaciodeleze3437 Hu, and thanks for watching. I don’t have any experience with Sony gear due to investment in Canon glass over the years. In my experience, though, optical reach is usually my preference. Even with high megapixel cameras there is no substitute for filling the frame where possible. I sold my canon 100-400 to get the rf100-500 because of the upgrade path to rf mount, the optical improvement and the reach. By the way, don’t Sony do a 600 zoom? So I suppose, despite the pixel advantage, I would favour the Canon out of those two combos, but if I was starting from scratch I would evaluate both Nikon and Sony alternatives in terms of glass choice and in terms of body performance, and subject tracking in particular. Have to say, though, I love my R5.
Whatever you choose, I hope you have a great trip. They are both awesome locations. Just make sure you take a camera, whatever brand you go for.
If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
