- Kruger National Park - EPIC WILDLIFE At Shingwedzi & Letaba
In April 2023 I travelled to the Kruger National Park, spending 5 nights in the Kruger. We camped at Letaba and Shingwedzi and had some incredible sightings and experiences, as well as some amazing wildlife photography.
Shingwedzi in particular produced some amazing predator action, including an epic sighting of Crocodiles stealing a kill from 3 Cheetah. We saw Leopard and Lion multiple times during the trip.
Join me in this video and follow along on our Kruger National Park adventure, experiencing amazing wildlife and enjoying the beauty of this incredible place.

We enjoy watching this with our kids. They can easily follow as there is more than enough animal activity in the video.
Thanks!
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it!
Doing nice safari vlogs
Thanks
Thanks so much for that. Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
One of the very best videos, very well done
Thank you so much for watching! That means a lot 🙏🏻
@@MarkDumbleton I keep on looking, love your river photos Funny, it's just mostly dry riverbed and veld, but yeah, it's so much more hey. It's all in the feeling.
Tip: ever heard of Marloth Park? There you can walk the southern fence of Kruger, for miles. Different feeling than driving, but without a guide that controls everything.
Wonderful flood plains views over the croc river. Birds and smells and your own pace
Thanks for the comment. I’ve heard of Marloth, never been but it sounds great!
Awesome video
Thanks
Thank you so much for watching! Have you ever been to Kruger?
Incredible- must go back!
Thank you. Kruger is fantastic!
Absolutely stunning video. You've done a great job. Can't wait to go to Krüger next july.
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching. Enjoy your Kruger trip next July! Exciting!
The female leopard was just wow
A real beauty right? Thanks so much for watching.
Happy happy on your first 20k bud. Proud of you. Next stop 100k 🎉
Thanks so much bud! Stoked with this one!
Amazing vlog,loved it
Thanks so much! Thanks for watching
Makes me homesick watching this :-) Sadly, been nearly 5 years since I was back in the Kruger and travelling the same roads. Thanks for sharing and great work
Thanks so much for watching mate! I hope you will be able to return one day for a trip!
Excellent vlog my friend
Thanks so much Jack! Glad you liked it!
Wonderful, so gentle and beautiful ❤. Went to school with your Mum 😁.
Thanks so much for watching. Awesome, I’ll tell her you commented 😊
Lovely crisp footage mate 🙂
Thanks so much Darrin! Worked hard on this one.
One of the best Kruger vlogs I've watched in a long time!! Very cool. And Brilliant sightings. The male Lions chasing the others out look huge! Wonder what happened in the end.
Wow thanks so much! Really stoked to see a comment from you 😊🙏🏻 and thank you for the compliment! Means a lot! Yeah those Lions were big! Apparently they chased out some young males, super cool to see!
@@MarkDumbleton It's a pleasure! I've subscribed, so will keep a look out for more.
Thank you!!! More to come for sure! Kruger is such an amazing place! Appreciate the sub 🙏🏻
So enjoyed watching all the fantastic birds and animals that you saw on your holiday. Thank you for sharing. I love the Kruger National Park and looking for birds and animals. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
So happy you enjoyed it Katy, thanks for watching! I love the Kruger so much too, and I’m happy I could share my trip with you.
Thanks Mark, enjoyed the video
We doing a trip to KNP - AUG SEPT.
Thanks for watching Mike! Oh nice, what camps you visiting?
@@MarkDumbleton Berg endal,Pretoriuskop,Satara,Letaba, shingwedzi, panda, tsendze& Maroela.
1st time long trip.
Wow that should be amazing!!! Will be nice to see the entire park like that!
@@MarkDumbleton waiting in anticipation
Loved this video. I recently came back from Zimanga in Zululand and I just loved South Africa. Going to return in a year or so.
Awesome! Hope you had a good time at Zimanga! I absolutely love that place!
@@MarkDumbleton It was incredible. Already planning a return there.
Very nice! Try go in the dry season if you can, August / September then the bush is dry and the animals frequent the waterholes a lot more
Cheetah, waterbuck and crocodiles. Must have been an adrenaline booster. Epic sightings and a great video.
It’s sure was! Incredible to see. Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏻
I really enjoyed this video! Letaba and Shingwedzi are two of our favorite camps 👍
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching! Letaba and Shingwedzi are such beautiful areas.
Absolutely beautiful HD video and editing Mark, really stunning!
Thanks so much Kevin! Appreciate that a lot, and thank you for watching 👍🏻
EXCELLENT!
Thanks so much Peter! Appreciate it!
Super footage Mike. I just cannot wait to go back.
Thanks as always Carol! I also can’t wait to go back! I’m addicted 😂
Thanks so much for sharing, greetings from the UK.
Thanks a lot Louise, thanks for watching.
Shingwedzi has always been my favourite camp and area. When I was there and Punda Maria a year ago, there was no wildlife around Shingwedzi, whilst Punda Maria was fantastic. I am glad that it seems to have returned to Shingwedzi.
Interesting to hear, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Amazing how the movement of wildlife can change in specific areas.
Awesome sightings and amazing footage as always, Mark! Can’t wait to chat to you about your new gear 😎
Thanks so much Villiers, thanks for watching!
Thanks Mark - excellent video and brings back vivid memories of my 3 visits to KNP (last visit in 2007). Such a fantastic place, we must return.
Thanks for watching David! You have to return, it’s such a special place! What camps did you visit on your trips?
@@MarkDumbleton We've stayed at Skukuza, Lower Sabie, Bergendal & Olifants. I'd like to visit the northern part of KNP next time
Nice! The northern part is my favourite! Satara and Shingwedzi are my 2 favourite spots to visit!
Amazing video Mark!
We're actually leaving for Kruger in 3 weeks. Spending 2 nights at Satara. And then meeting up with friends in Shingwedzi and ending off with 2 nights in Pafuri.
We usually frequent the south more, so it'll be our first time further north than Letaba. Looking quite forward to it
Thanks for watching Jackie! That sounds like an amazing trip! The south is very productive for game viewing but the traffic is a lot more. The north is amazing, I’m sure you will enjoy it a lot!
Always great seeing videos about the North. Great video overall honestly. I spent 7 days solo in shingwedzi round about the same time, First day I checked I was told about the cheetahs and crocs however didn't seem them but then the next 3 days produced magic catwise(four leopards in two days) and a couple of lion sightings four days in row, Great Video
Thanks so much for watching Mashudu, and thanks for the comment. That’s an excellent tally of cat sightings. Which roads did you see the cats on?
Love love your work! (Please name the birds)
Thanks so much! I’ll definitely try add more bird information in the next video.
Loved this video, the cinematography is beautiful, thanks so much for sharing. We have never been brave enough to self drive in Kruger 🤣 But have really enjoyed Sabi Sand and Timbavati and are 100% addicted to safari
Thanks so much for the comment! You absolutely need to do a self drive in Kruger, it’s incredible!
Sank Sands and Timbavati are incredible areas, I can see why you’re addicted! 😊
Really enjoying your channel.. Thanks. I was in Tanzania 20 years ago. Its been far too long. I must get back. Also, I'd love to see some of your images (maybe from raw to final) from this trip (looks like tough lightining). You do such great work, I'm curious to see what you pulled out from this trip. cheers-Greg
Thanks so much for watching Greg, and I appreciate the comment. I’ll see what worthwhile images I have from the trip, but not sure I got anything great and worth sharing. I mostly shot video on this trip.
Really awesome video! Footage looks great and the sightings...well...it can't always be luck, you always find the good stuff :) Looks like you've moved to Sony too?
Thanks so much for watching mate! The sightings were great, but as you know, sometimes we find nothing. I haven’t switched to Sony, just had an opportunity to test drive some Sony gear. I did enjoy it!
@@MarkDumbleton I’ve been wanting to reduce my kit for a while. But I love my 400 f2.8 the Sony 200-600 seems so convenient also the OM 150-400
Will you be sharing some insights on the Sony? Hope so!
That Sony 200-600 was a real winner in my books! And the Sony AF was top notch! Much like the Canon I guess. I definitely would like to share my thought on the Sony gear, hopefully soon.
