Seriously... And I mean seriously.. Numan’s live performances have always been incredible. Even had Billy Currie and Nash the Slash, two phenomenal violin players. And yet his music is still modern, inspiring, menacing, joyful and beautiful simultaneously..
Last night (30.05.2022) I attend to Gary Numan's concert at John Dee, Oslo. Amazing show, I've seen him live 4 times but nowadays Numan is just amazing. He's 64 and better than ever.
Gary Numan owns this!! Love it better than on Replicas album!! Amazing live version! Been a NUMAN fan for 42 yrs, it never gets old!! NUUUMAN!! Happy belated Birthday Gary ( March 8) wishing you lots of health and happiness for many years to come !! I am so sad you had to cancel your concert 🎵 in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 because of Omricon…I really hope your able to reschedule ..a lot of fans are waiting!!! I hope you get a chance to hear about this comment… we love you!! Pure Gold 📀📀🎶🎹 luv LA from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦
This concert was recorded and filmed at the Manchester Academy, UK in 2008. It was a celebration of Gary Numans 30 years as a musician as well as his 50th birthday on the night of the concert.
I can't wait for 2nd May 2022 in Brum, a living legend and still making great music. My favorite songs , it must of been years and haunted, the volume just goes up
I know the guitarist. Chris, best mates, we both auditioned for Gary when Steve Fox-Harris (Gary's full time guitarist) was unable to play for him at the time... Chris got the gig(s). Hehe.
Nice to hear! Do you know how he makes that awful guitar sound? Connected to a synth? I tried to connect my guitar to my synth, but couldn’t make it.. Musically yours Liselotte in Sweden (This song and Metal (from Pleasure Priciple) made me start playing guitar and synth in the 70’s.. and I still do..)
What a track !!! I remember listening to this when Replicas was first released and it still gives me goosebumps. 40 years on. Only Gary Numan can write songs like this
Another stunning hybrid of old and newer sounds, always takes me back to the farewell concert in 1980's - I ddn't even know what that song was when I saw that until I bought the replicas album - is this version 90's or 00's ?
First heard "Cars" on alternative radio, but then they started to play the shit out of it... But it was enough for my bud and I to go see his early concert W/ Nash The Slash for his opener...(on acid!) I didn't think I could get any more into both artists until I found their other albums on Ytube. This artist ROCKS beyond what any words can describe!!!
I remember listening to 'Are Friends Electric', being played loud, in my local NSS news agent on a warm spring day in 1979, was the first record I ever bought. =) Gary Numan gave birth to the new era!
Other than "Cars" in my teens, fairly new (and appreciative) of Numan in the past 3 or so years. Is it normal all my body hair stood on end and my head exploded watching this?? Aren't music stars supposed to dim as they pass through the years? HE'S ASCENDING TO GOD LEVEL! :O :D
He gets alot of critisism but the man is a fantastic live performer. A pioneer for the electronic music era, and so influential to so many bands now. I've seen him live so many times, met him once and it's all good! Dedicated to Cedric Sharpley, great drummer. RIP
Lyrics It was hard to avoid I suppose, it was the shame But they didn't even try You see, we'd never met And they didn't have names There was nothing I could do So I turned on the crowd And I screamed, "You and you It could have been you" And they seemed to think That I looked that way Or maybe I was wrong So I said, "Do you know Mr. Wall" And they looked the other way And then they smiled at me But the police came And I said it was me And I just walked away
I appreciate his entire catalog (well, almost), but during 1978-1980 damn was he a songwriting genius juggernaut. I mean he humbly declares he is a cult-level artist (which he is), but for the ones who understand these few years of effort by an extremely young man are on par with dylans 60s or bowies 70s etc. His approach to sound, lyrics (his poetry was so mesmerizing and effortless during that time) and visuals are still something to behold. And this is I think precisely why these songs are so impressive being reinvented for modern times. But genius strikes you and then it leaves, it's like Dylan said in a later interview that he has no idea how he wrote all those early songs, like it wasn't him, which is I guess how creativity works. It is you but also it is something that works through you.
3:40 What's up with my man's lips?? Like an angry hornet, with an axe to grind, was "powerdrillin" his lips, like he stole something the hornet wanted... he still rocks though. Gary, not the hornet.
I have enjoyed this video so much - Replicas was the first album I ever bought, splinter being the most recent! Videos like this, kind of bring the two together. "Utopia" thanks for posting.
Yeah, I have seen other footage of Gary performing live and it was not that great...........But this show, he really pulled out all the stops and had wicked lighting design, sound, and a good band to play with him. I believe it was his 50th birthday as well when he did this show.
phill g'z comment. I was 7 wen I got hooked to numan, then I was on the scene 1990/92 when the rave scene started in the uk. I like bowie, alot, but numan started the modern synth/digital tunes that r so hype nowadays its beyond imagination, unless u know. wot did bowie start that's still a movement. example hear/utube-misanthrop attack. its like sex on xtc, anuva level !
The show at Neumo's in Seattle about 3 years ago was my 48th numan gig since 1980, 12 years old at my fist gig, 44 years old at my last. I just hope he does something different for his next album, he's been doing the same thing since Pure 15 years ago, time for a change
On my channel, where it says "Uploads" there is a small black arrow next to it. Click on that and the first menu that drops down is "Playlists" click on that.
40 YEARS & NO RECOGNITION FOR SERVICES TO MUSIC. WHAT A DISGRACE, AS A FAN CLUB MEMBER FOR 35 OF THESE YEARS I RESPECT YOU & THANK YOU MR WEBB 🍀🙏🏻🇮🇪

TWO DISLIKES!!! What more could you want.
This is f*****g brilliant!!!
Puts a shiver down my spine everytime I hear this.
Brilliant song
Lrts trip together on a peice of cacti
I know it’s just awesome opening
Must have been a Millennial or Gen Z
That just proves the world is full of morons.. I've yet to hear a numan song that I could dislike
Just sayin’ He was 20-21 years when he wrote this masterpiece.. almost 40 years ago and it’s still fresh!! Amazing!!
Why can't I like this more than once?
Well, what did you expect? It's Gary Numan, the Godfather of Industrial Electronic music.
It's supposed to have computerized compositions.
Brought it all back to me, Gary still got it, so original, a unique & talented man.
Love you Gary xxx

Jackal Fox lucky bastard, lol

That long guitar strap of his really annoyed me, made me want to run on stage and shorten it for him so he could reach the strings.
@Jackal l smell bullshit!
For me......it doesn't really get any better than this......Intro and opening track Replicas. Amazing.
I think I appreciate how good this track is more now then when I bought Replicas in 79
I love this live version. Listen to it with headphones on. It gives Replicas a cosmic thunderstorm of sound for our heads. Wonderful

I was there too that night, was bloody awesome, and singing him Happy Birthday was something never to be forgotten.

He's been going since the seventies, Harry, His live performances are as good as, if not BETTER than the studio, go see him if you can.
There will never be another
I remember listening to 'Are Friends Electric', being played loud, in my local NSS news agent on a warm spring day in 1979, was the first record I ever bought. =)
Gary Numan gave birth to the new era!
Same here - i went to WH Smith record dept. (do they still have those?) to buy it :-)
Great TASTE
Same here blew my mind numan fan ever since
I love Gary Numam...everything the man touches turns into sonic GOLD!
Spine tingling awesomeness
Don't write like this anymore!
I've only just discovered him recently. I really hope to see him in concert someday. Looks awesome!
Hope you have seen the legend live, I'm counting down to 2nd May 2022 in Brum
This guy is a complete legend. This is England. He represents English music.
He will always be up there as one of the greatest artists in history.
One of the greatest artists in history? Oh fuck off with your ridiculous internet overstatements.
At 2:35 I am transported back to 1979, being a 14year old and the first time I ever heard this masterpiece of an album
Before my time, but Id have loved that show. Was it just him at that point or was he still with Tubeway Army?
If he wrote this now, genius.
But he wrote it at 20. FFS
Been listening to this epic since I was 14. Gets better with age.
I don't like his "new" stuff. 78-81 is my fave from him
Gary numan and David bowie - there is nothing else to say
Hopefully in may rock city in Nottingham
He gets alot of critisism but the man is a fantastic live performer. A pioneer for the electronic music era, and so influential to so many bands now. I've seen him live so many times, met him once and it's all good! Dedicated to Cedric Sharpley, great drummer. RIP
Bass player going for it ace
COMPLETE PERFECT!!!!
Fkn awesome never ages what a start to any gig
He is a total musical icon
Fantastic in 1979 and still is…
Lyrics
It was hard to avoid
I suppose, it was the shame
But they didn't even try
You see, we'd never met
And they didn't have names
There was nothing I could do
So I turned on the crowd
And I screamed, "You and you
It could have been you"
And they seemed to think
That I looked that way
Or maybe I was wrong
So I said, "Do you know Mr. Wall"
And they looked the other way
And then they smiled at me
But the police came
And I said it was me
And I just walked away
What a fantastic live performance
Best opening ever? I think so.. ❤️
His base player is so good
Lovely Tim Muddiman
Timeless and powerful
The live version of "Replicas" (especially this performance of it) is so much better than the album version. I would have loved to have been there.
Omg he is so fucking gorgeous
i got this man 40 years a go fuck he is still so good
Who the fuck is disliking ?
Great song for the cyberpunk era.

Dylan made a deal. That's where the songs came from th-cam.com/video/m_wAZ02JUtM/w-d-xo.html

@@regretto Are mystic things crap? You have a lot to learn

I so want to go and see him
I haven't even got tickets yet
'THIS IS THE VOICE OF THE MYSTERONS' Captain Black from Captain Scarlet don't you think ??
I cant say it better than any of the comments below and agree with them all, life-changing since 1979 for me
Ik ben 70 jaar oud en hou nog steeds v a n deze muziek
This song has gotten better with age. Incredible!
3:40 What's up with my man's lips?? Like an angry hornet, with an axe to grind, was "powerdrillin" his lips, like he stole something the hornet wanted... he still rocks though. Gary, not the hornet.
Love the old stuff but what a version
Suberb
Increases volume. Presses play. Closes eyes. Transported back to age 16. Neighbours hate me but I don't care.
OPENING SONG is my fave Gary Numan song!
Although I do like the numanoid. The godfather of industrial music. Edgar frosse may want you to hold his beer. Even though he’s not with us anymore.
Not heard this version before, love it, hypnotic,
Me too Peter I do like it
Intro is incredible..............
Wow sends chills, why has Garry never made any film soundtracks?
The best version of the best Numan song.....Legendary or what !
It's great to hear the oldies fleshed out and sounding as big as this.
I have enjoyed this video so much - Replicas was the first album I ever bought, splinter being the most recent! Videos like this, kind of bring the two together. "Utopia" thanks for posting.
Whats numan doing with the guitar prop he can't play a note 😂 but i liked this version of replicas
My first concert was Gary Numan on the Teletour. I never get bored of listening to his music.
