There are so many singers and not performers. There are so many performers and not singers. Then there is Gary Numan who is both a singer and a performer. Love his talent and music. Huge fan since the late 70's. Yes, I'm 52 yrs old and love this music.
Denise Butler TIcket(s)? ... that's great Denise, so you picked up a ticket for me as well :) .. I'll fly in from Vancouver a couple days prior to see the sights before we take in the show..
I know right! The original version was a bit hard to digest, but over the years, his voice has improved, and the song has been down mixed to perfection for the live performances.
Its great to see a singer that still looks like they did years ago.. Even still sounds the same. Others have not aged as well. New music still echos his original sound and style, but it sounds fresh.
Yes! I met him@ Vintage Vinyl in NJ (*1st time & concert was NYC..I was 15+got an autograph*) for performance & 'Splinter' signing; I was still starstruck..he couldn't be any sweeter to everyone + saw his show in NYC just recently... outstanding !!!
I might have spray painted "If you were my shepherd then I'm lost and no one can find me" on the religious rehab that kicked me out when I failed to get religion.
The chord progression you find similar was actually in Gary Numan's music before Chris Isaak. It was in the song "Music for Chameleons" from Gary's 1982 album "I, Assassin". That predates "Wicked Game" by 7 years. Gary brought it out to play again for "A Prayer for the Unborn" in his 2000 album release "Pure". When I first heard Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game", I felt he must have heard Numan's track and thought, "Hey, I could do an entire song out of just that progression! That would be cool!" I'm not complaining, I love the sound. But... yeah, Gary did it first.
been a numanoid for a long time, and i like the new stuff too, but i find it odd that numan writes a song blaming god for this very sad event, yet no songs about the abortion holocaust....
Best lyric Gary Numan ever wrote.
Such an intelligent song writter.

59 here!
... and 50 here :D
I'm going to share this song with my brother, so we can remember our sibling who was never allowed to walk the earth.
44 and he has been my fav since I was 4
Brilliant....Gary wrote this to express himself after the still birth of his first child.....
Saw him in Boston recently...... I've been going to live shows for 20 + years...... THIS was the BEST so far.....
"So, I prayed...
But you weren't listening.
Making miracles?
So, I begged...
But you were far away.
Saving souls perhaps?
So, I screamed...
But she was very small
And you have worlds to mend.
So, she died... And you were glorious.
But you were somewhere else.
If you are my shepherd
Then I'm lost and no one can find me.
If you are my saviour
Then I'm dead and no one can help me.
If you are my glory
Then I'm sick and no one can cure me.
If you light my darkness
Then I'm blind and no one can see me.
If you are my father
Then love lies abandoned and bleeding.
If you are my comfort
Then nightmares are real and deceiving.
If you are my answer
Then I must have asked the wrong question.
I'd spit on your heaven
If I could find one to believe in."

Genius the best song Numan has ever written !
I know right! The original version was a bit hard to digest, but over the years, his voice has improved, and the song has been down mixed to perfection for the live performances.
My exact feeling also.
In my opinion his very best live track...

Couldn't imagine he'd get any better...here's proof - on EVERY artistic level!!!
True. He's so good, we've filmed him twice! Total gentleman too.

I might have spray painted "If you were my shepherd then I'm lost and no one can find me" on the religious rehab that kicked me out when I failed to get religion.
why did he omitted the arrangement from the end of the Studio song
Very near to cris Isaak - wicked Game - but brillant!
I disagree. The tracks don't sound at all alike

This song there's no question. Because i'snt an answer. It's an accusation, it's a disappointment.

Rick Deckard One in three pregnancies end in miscarriage. Your God is the greatest abortionist of all.
No 'abortion holocaust' fucktard - stop evangelising and accept your god is fiction.
Yup, coz if we would believe the bible, we would all be inbreed ;)
Wow, you just straight up told everyone you were garbage with no hesitation
Comparing abortion to the holocaust shows what a POS human you are 😢😢😢😢
