Its funny because I watched Renaissance film December first, and December 2nd I watched thriller45. she’s truly a student of the genre MJs daughter. The will to be great and striving for perfection is crazy!
The whole Blue progression was an amazing thing to see. I doubt Beyonce knew it at the time but making Blue a part of the show, became a whole movement and inspiration to young black girls. I saw a few videos on social media of little black girls at the concert for Blue. Waiting specifically for her to hit the stage. One more thing. I'll never understand grown adults bullying children. Then when stories come up about children harming themselves because of bullying, these same people in the comments talking about the parents of bullies. Sir/Ma'am, the call is coming from inside the house.
Yes! The Blue segment made me shed a small tear because I had my girl around the same time. So seeing them come into their own is so heartwarming. But as far as bullying goes it shows that children won't break. Criticism is a part of life and it builds character. That's why her mom is so freaking great and her baby will too
yess!! i've seen so many #BlueIvyLeague tiktoks of young black girls doing the My Power dance with Blue, I wished they included those videos in the film
I am a complete Stan but I’m still constantly impressed by the respect she has for both the artistry and us as fans. She gives an experience not just bs for click bait so grateful there’s still a few great ones left.
I'm not a fan or a hater! However once I got my Nakamichi shockwafe SSE ARC 9.2.4 1000 watts Soundbar and heard her concert on Netflix. I really enjoyed that concert. Plus it sounded so great on my system
Beys work ethic goes so hard bc she sets the bar higher for herSELF, not to compete with others. I love to see an empowered woman do her thing. It motivates me in all ways.
Beyonce is so talented and hardworking it was great to see her in her process and just see her be a person but also show that everything she has accomplished didn't happen without hard work.
She said it took 4 years to create that tour. That itself was worth the money that I spent on attending in person! Give Beyoncé her flowers while she’s here! I’m standing on doing just that. BIG BUSINESS!
I absolutely loved the concert and the film exceeded my expectations. It was so great to relive the experience of the show with the added context of what it took to bring it to us. I’m the kind of person that stays until the absolute end of every movie I watch in theaters and I saw something I had never seen before: she added the names of the tour bus drivers to the end credits. I think it shows her gratitude and understanding for the fact that she could not pull of the amazing tour she did without everyone’s contribution.
I'm a Beyonce fan and saw the movie. I loved it! I enjoy documentaries so this was great. I plan to see it again. The behind the scenes footage was inspiring. Her work ethic, professionalism, and drive is amazing.
Just got back from seeing the movie and it was great! I went to her Detroit show back in July and it was one of the best concerts ever! The staging was unreal and she sounded great live. I went by myself and looking back, I wish I was in Club Renaissance. Nonetheless, the energy was great and It was so cool seeing everyone express themselves through their fashion. Sidenote, I wish she would release a coffee table book of all of her costumes! It was so cool looking on Social media and seeing what she wore next.
the fact that she cut so much of the concert itself was shocking because we wanted all the songs but i did enjoy the behind the scenes however truly shows her artistry
My Mom said she doesnt like the "new" Bey bc she "curses too much" but shes from H-Town influenced by rap and hip hop. Shes also done every genre of music. But how can you not respect the hard work, dedication, and work ethic over all? I dont get it. I respect Bey to the highest degree for her raw talent and work ethic. If she can eat healthy and work out 3-5x a week so can we! We can get our bodies right. She serves as pure motivation to me.
I really enjoyed the film. I didn't see her in concert but the crowd in the movie theater acted like they were there! It was such a fun experience. Although I don't consider myself a 'stan', I've always appreciated her showmanship and the dedication to her craft and artistry.
The movie has s fire, anybody who talk’s negative about her just hate themselves because she’s doing a lot, this woman is a hard, dedicated worker and deserves all her flowers ❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This movie was everything. The audience/fans we danced, laughed, and cried. Beyonce is truly a legend and definitely deserves all of her flowers and accolades❤
I’m glad you talked about how people were such haters of Beyoncé in the early 2000s! They were mad she was going solo and made this thing. They even had her under a microscope when she was pregnant with Blue. Like no wonder she never tells yall nothing anymore cause people were out to get here. I’m so happy she rose above it all time after time, but she’s a person I can only imagine having to keep your spirit and creativity up when people come for your character your whole life .
Hopefully for the Audio video snobs like me hopefully it will be coming to UHD Blueray and Blueray so we can get the best quality to hear it on our system that we so invested in!!!!
I am a deep fan if I had to say so myself; she did her big one. Her intentionality is masterful, and it is unmatched! She is an icon, and I believe we can all see it in this film. ❤
For me Renaissance was B’Day on Steroids. I enjoyed this project waaayyyy more than Lemonade. I’m glad I did what I did to get to the Kansas show, AND the film was amazing. I feel like this is her Big One.
I became part of the Beyhive after watching her BTS documentary for her Revel performance. I loooove to see her work ethic, the logistics of a performance and her as a regular human like us. Even if youre not a fan, you can definitely get something out of the movie. Im incredibly inspired after watching
And this element of camaraderie continues with anything Renaissance related , whether parties in clubs or the film showings at the theaters. She really gave us all a platform to escape and be free
Easily my favorite Beyonce album and tour. I was at DC night 2 and seeing it in theaters I noticed so many things that I didn’t see initially. She is unparalleled in her field.
Been a huge fan since like 7 or 8 years old when I was exposed to DC4/DC3. I have went to 3 Beyoncé concerts (FWT), (OTRII), (RWT) and she really outdoes herself EVERY TIME and the energy is insane/unmatched! 😍 Seen the film this past weekend and enjoyed it so much! Really loved Blue's segment! It was so sweet and endearing! The entire crew for this tour was amazing! I honestly wish it was longer! She is this generation's blueprint!💓
It's crazy to me how much hate from the black community that she gets constantly trying to discredit her when the proof is in the pudding everything from her work ethic to her performances to her body of work you can tell she puts passion and her all in everything she does,I saw some one say the other day on shaderoom saying she is only famous because of Jay-Z and devil worshipping lol like even if you don't care for this woman to say she's not talented and overated when most artists can't even perform live is so crazy she doesn't do what everybody else does she's in a category of her own Micheal Jackson and Prince had the same type of work ethics too which made them iconic and unduplicat she deserves her flowers for sure people should take note instead of trying so hard to discredit her...
And people have insulted them for being devil worshippers too. Maybe, just maybe, we have to sit here and be honest with ourselves and state the obvious here: these singers who became so popular, they were victims of INTENSE MK-Ultra/Satanic Ritual Abuse to become the singers that they are. The author of the book "Thanks for the Memories," stated she remember seeing young Michael and his other brothers back in the 70's having to service men such as Ed Sullivan just to even get any type of mainstream attention. Do you really think Beyonce went from saying "I will never sacrifice my Christianity (2001, "Survivor" lyrics) to her outright blasphemous support of Orishas/Oshun African witchcraft by accident? Lets be realistic here -- she is of her father, the Devil, and she married someone who even called himself "Jay-HOVA," insulting JEHOVAH God, Jesus Christ. None of her "hardwork" is from her doing it; she even gave credit back in 2006 for a demonic entity named Sasha Fierce just like Nicki Minaj gave credit to Roman (a demonic entity named after a literal rapist in Roman Polanski).
I went to the Charlotte show and I agree with the five components of the show and i definitely agree she is the best entertainer of the 21st century hands down 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Beyonce is definitely our generations Michael Jackson, a true performer and I agree with your comments with her being guarded due to what happened with DC back in the day. Even Tina coming out to defend her over the whitewashing comments. She has played it right and kept her private life private which is people are so interested in behind the scenes. Some artists post everything on social media for likes so if they tried something like this no I would care! She’s an inspiration, I also liked seeing that all the ladies for DC were in attendance for the premiere. Was nice to see them all supporting - still crossing my fingers for a DC5 reunion 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
What I liked is the tour evolved over time from 1st to last show...added choreography, Blue dancing, wardrobe changes. I saw her in July & she didnt sing "All Up in Your Mind" or "Thique" so that was great. Taylor Swift has worn the same outfits over and over and over w same setlist. Theres just no comparison btw the shows.
This was such a great review. I appreciate how you broke don’t the 5 components-very insightful! And you’re so right about opening with a ballad. She NEVER does that. Been Beyhive since 02 and that ain’t even click for me.
Been a fan from Day One and I love to see her evolve, grow, and master her craft. I saw the movie today and it was fire 🔥. 🎥🎬🍿❤️👑🐝. That is how a professional entertainer moves.
I saw it last night so when I saw a bunch of "us" in the theatre I knew it was gonna be a good time. The girls and gays had a blast and im glad i was able to experience it ✨
OMG Hi Michael!!! I loved your take on this Film and I agree with literally every single word you said!! I remember the Beyoncé hate train back then because I was on it! I was a young teenager so I took the DC break up HARD. But you simply can't ignore talent, work ethic and beauty. Coachella was my Beehive induction moment tho (maybe because it took me back to the old HU days lol) After watching Homecoming 16 times and not getting tired of it I knew I had to see her in person and I did!! I was on the floor at The Renaissance World Tour DC Night 2 where the show got delayed because of the rain. She came out there and put on one hell of a show and Blue even got to come out. I'm still beaming about that amazing show. The Renaissance Film helped me relive it and I'm so thankful! Let's go to the next show together!!!
The Taylor Swift Eras Movie was missing the behind the scenes looks, which is what we want. 3 hrs of Taylor singing songs I never heard wasnt for me. What went INTO it other than a $ grab???
Just left the theater 🎉 I was good to see behind the scenes, I also went to the concert here in #TheBay didn't stay for the whole thing because.... Traffic. and im not dealing with that leaving, so it was good to see what it was that i missed. Some stuff i seen from the line while buying my merch which i wore today 😊🎉🎉 you're right! She let us know that she is still a *Black Mama, while talking to Blue I did appreciate that she left that in there.
I have to say, I was one of those people disappointed with the set list. I liked the Renaissance album but it is definitely not my favorite by hers. As my first time seeing her live I was looking forward to a lot of the old hits, the destiny’s child medley, ect. But I get it, someone I know said this was their 3rd time seeing her live so they were happy with the show because it was completely brand new! So I definitely see the vision but I’m sad cuz I feel like I’ll never get to see her perform the older hits. Cuz she’s just gonna keep making more and Deja Vu n them will become less and less of a priority 🥺
I don't think people realize that Beyonce, alongside Janet, Rihanna ,Nicki and The Weeknd are the last really big Black superstars we have left. Yeah other Black artist are doing well, but they aren't at the level as the artists I just mentioned
Rihanna and Nicki will never ever be lauded for their world tours sorry. Unlike Beyonce, Janet who actually put on proper shows. Rihanna's a style icon celebrated for that and her business acumen. Nicki's pen game is legendary
She is overatted period! Ever since after the 4th album, everything has been handed to her! Putting on big stage tours and designers gowns doesn't mean shit! If you are not being yourself! This first thing you heard was about her million dollar designer outfits not her actual show!
I always liked her music and videos . I’m not a concert person , Beyoncé took my concert virginity this summer . The Renaissance album Is a masterpiece . Bey gives goddess energy, her worth ethic is unmatched . During the movie I cried during cozy and uncle Johnny scenes .
Ive been to both OTR shows, Formation (x2), And Mrs Carter World Tour. Front row Club Carter section. great shows as usual but Renaissance tour hit different for me. I got last min tickets in the no view section and went by myself for the first time. I went to Night 1 in ATL (we won the mute challenge)Best night of my life. It felt like i was at a ball on a huge space ship. Everybody was vibing and having fun. You just had to be there. I think the Renaissance tour was her most important tour to date.
I loved it! This woman is a queen, a legend, a siren, a muse. She is larger than life! A super woman. I loved everything about seeing her process. The magnificence, the excellence, the top shelf production. I also enjoyed seeing all the family and friends aspect, her relation to her children and being vulnerable about her injuries. My only reason for not giving it five stars is that it was a bit too long. Had she stopped it at two hours instead of two hours and 45 minutes it would’ve been perfection.
Thank you for the review Calvin I won't be seeing the film nor I did not go to the show due to the crowds and I could not afford to go but I am glad that this was a movement for so many people and this brought a lot of people together to appreciate Beyonce's music in 2023
When Destiny’s Child first came out, I had a crush on. But she lost me as a fan over the time, big time. But I will NEVER take away from her the fact that she is an incredibly hard worker, beautiful singer, and her fashion game is top-tier (especially from the clips of all the costumes she’s worn on this tour).
o8:20mins. - You really just took me back with this because I completely forgot about those cameras and how you couldn't see the picture until it was developed back in the day. That was the majority of my childhood being born in '94.
Great review bro. Based on what you said about her being guarded toward the beginning, did you ever watch "Black Is King?" She's also very vulnerable and open on that and we see her twins for the first time on that film.
I honestly don’t give a damn about Renaissance BUT “Black is King” and “The Gift” and “Lemonade” … I support BLACKNESS NOT gays sorry … being gay is nothing special but BLACKNESS IS!!!
Great review and analysis! I’m with you: I hate stadium shows. I did attend Renaissance and had a blast, but my fav show of hers was back in 2013 when she performed at the Toyota Center in Houston: The Mrs. Carter tour. The acoustics are so much better in arenas and smaller venues.
Im a casual Beyonce fan...i know about her singles and overall like them, but i didn't go to the concert and i dont plan on seeing this movie, so thank you for this indepth review
agreed, I'm still not a fan of this album i know it's popular to like it now, but i'm not into club music. The only song i like is Heated and only because it sounds like a single that was made for Drake. But i give her, her flowers for being one of the most influential female artist of this generation.
I went to the NOLA show and saw the movie and was taken away both times. Just pure talent and grit! I only wish she highlighted the mute challenge competition more😂 and showed which cities the footage was from
You should have done the standing only section. I got tickets the day of for my little bro for $200 in that section. But it was during Sunday night with the rain and it was miserable. I would never do that again for any artist. My Dad was like it’s going to thunderstorm and I was like “oh”. I hope not since the tickets were free and would have been a great time. But in case, I have an umbrella. They were telling people they could not enter with their umbrellas. I still took my giant umbrella in. Who do I look like catching pneumonia for an artist.
Great costumes, great performer, great work ethic, great longevity in the music industry. However, I just haven’t liked any music she has done for the past ten years. I prefer her earlier work from her debut era and will always have a passion for her fun work of art with the Bday and Sasha Fierce era. Unfortunately I didn’t connect to any of her art on her self-titled album, Lemonade or Renassaince. So I’ll pass on the film. Regardless, I hope the movie does well. She deserves accolades for her hard work.
This is the most respectful beautifully worded way to express when you no longer can connect with the artist. Personally, I liked her before, but her art in the last 10 years made me a die hard fan. I am obsessed about her artistry and her sound.
I couldnt agree more w ur commentary...saw it Sunday night and it was amazing just as in concert in Philly in July. Her work ethic & discipline is EVERYTHING.
I really hope they have a live Playlist of the show!! The musicality is Ahmazingggg💯💯💯💯💯💯🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I trulyyyy enjoyed the concert and this film it's Incredible 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💗💗💗💗💗
Great review. I saw it tonight. I was OVER THE MOON watching it. However, I agree that it is a bit longer than I realized. The singing was just unbelievable. One comment that Beyonce made about Blue seeing the negative reviews was interesting. I don't want to give it away if people are reading the comments. But, I was curious to know what you thought about her reaction to Blue seeing the comments.
I took my daughter for a birthday gift. I got tge tickets when tgey went on sale. I seen thr movie last night at a private theater in Philly. It was a sing a long. And ppl came out with looks. 1 girl was vougueing in the asile . I had my fan clacking. It was a 🥳
She’s an 80s baby BAE-BEE. We grew up on Michael Jackson, Janet, Prince and Madonna. She learned from the GREATS.

I loved the movie just as much as being at the concert. She definitely showed a lot of the New Orleans tour stop.
Aww I get where you’re coming from
I really enjoyed when they quickly jumped to show Diva stayed in 😂
I don't think people realize that Beyonce, alongside Janet, Rihanna ,Nicki and The Weeknd are the last really big Black superstars we have left. Yeah other Black artist are doing well, but they aren't at the level as the artists I just mentioned
Lmao Janet is the only one worth mentioning alongside Bey, only 1 comparable
@@deevasquez1171gen z's for ya 😂
Rihanna and Nicki will never ever be lauded for their world tours sorry. Unlike Beyonce, Janet who actually put on proper shows. Rihanna's a style icon celebrated for that and her business acumen. Nicki's pen game is legendary
Well said. Top tier class artists
Loved the concert and this movie made me love it even more! Idk how she does it 🤯
i like beyonce so far she is a great artist.
Renaissance Tour was in a league of its own. Masterpiece ❤
@@LivingLife-y7c it definitely was. I didn't think she could top Formation World Tour but Bey once again outdid herself.
Thank you for the review Calvin I won't be seeing the film nor I did not go to the show due to the crowds and I could not afford to go but I am glad that this was a movement for so many people and this brought a lot of people together to appreciate Beyonce's music in 2023
Your commentary is very thorough. Thank you. I did see the show in real life, and I appreciated that you highlighted some things that I forgot.
This film was so Beautiful and Amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉
An absolute Masterpiece ❤
When Destiny’s Child first came out, I had a crush on. But she lost me as a fan over the time, big time. But I will NEVER take away from her the fact that she is an incredibly hard worker, beautiful singer, and her fashion game is top-tier (especially from the clips of all the costumes she’s worn on this tour).
BYE
@samyljones3871 thats so weird of you. He's just stating his opinion without being rude.
@@RachelLondon Thank you!
Why though if I may ask

I was at the Houston show and it was phenomenal!!
We go tomorrow but I can't click off lol
When she was in Mom mode with Blue was the best part of the film.
Can't wait for your video about Julianna Margulies.
I would like to see this documentary one day, I had been listening to Beyonce since her debut album with Destiny's Child.
Brilliant Commentary.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn’t plan on watching this documentary but this commentary made me reconsider.
The song where Beyonce performs with the harness on the I Am...World Tour was Baby Boy.
WELCOME TO THE RENAISSANCE!!!!!!! I love this era 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I have to see this, I loved the homecoming doc. Sounds like this is good too
I went to the NOLA show and saw the movie and was taken away both times. Just pure talent and grit! I only wish she highlighted the mute challenge competition more😂 and showed which cities the footage was from
Haven’t seen it, but let’s gooooo
Been waiting for this!! Thank you🤩
You should have done the standing only section.
This was a great video. Love your perspective on all of it.
Beyoncé icon living 😎😩😩😩
Overrated
Great costumes, great performer, great work ethic, great longevity in the music industry.
However, I just haven’t liked any music she has done for the past ten years. I prefer her earlier work from her debut era and will always have a passion for her fun work of art with the Bday and Sasha Fierce era. Unfortunately I didn’t connect to any of her art on her self-titled album, Lemonade or Renassaince. So I’ll pass on the film.
Regardless, I hope the movie does well. She deserves accolades for her hard work.
I feel the same exact way
Same here I preferred her when she was still in Destiny Child. Not keen on her recent music
Totally agree. The new stuff is trash.
This is the most respectful beautifully worded way to express when you no longer can connect with the artist. Personally, I liked her before, but her art in the last 10 years made me a die hard fan. I am obsessed about her artistry and her sound.
@@marymutyaba6322 I’m a huge Destiny’s Child stan so I definitely understand.
Always love a Calvin analysis. Smart analysis.
I couldnt agree more w ur commentary...saw it Sunday night and it was amazing just as in concert in Philly in July. Her work ethic & discipline is EVERYTHING.
Spittin Pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It was an amazing film!!
Yo you rock this ❤
I really hope they have a live Playlist of the show!! The musicality is Ahmazingggg💯💯💯💯💯💯🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I trulyyyy enjoyed the concert and this film it's Incredible 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💗💗💗💗💗

Beyonce is awesome!
Loved your review of the movie I’m going to see it tomorrow I went to the Houston show and you’re right I was a freeing experience
Great commentary!
Yasssss, the concert was amazing❤
I took my daughter for a birthday gift. I got tge tickets when tgey went on sale. I seen thr movie last night at a private theater in Philly. It was a sing a long. And ppl came out with looks. 1 girl was vougueing in the asile . I had my fan clacking. It was a 🥳
Very good commentary-
I actually concur with everything you said.
