This is proof that it doesn't matter how hard or easy it is to play the guitar... it matters WHO'S playing the guitar! Sure it's simple, but it's MARC doing it! You're totally right, it's impossible to get tired of him! MARC makes this jam interesting. Put anyone else up there and we get bored with him. But since it's Marc, he has us hanging on every note, wondering what he's going to come up with next. That's called "the IT factor" and he's got it in spades. Star quality.

This is what I'm talking about. Proves that Marc was a far more accomplished guitarist than he's usually given credit for. BONZAI!

This is awesome... love how much it jams... never knew how much great music he made... Cool to see people like Donovan and Syd Barrett as influences, though obviously he added a lot of his own spark to his sound.

The addition of Steve Currie's bass made that a 100% better version compared with the record, I think.

he was huge in his day, Bang a Gong on AM radio but, later it's Bowie they think of when they Think.... glam rock. I remember Slider commercials on TV in the New York metro area!!!! nobody had commercials for lps on prime time tv back then, like no body. so... he did have his day. and yes, an amazing guitar stylist as well as amazing singer songwriter. is the cult of Bolan bigger than the cult of say, Syd Barrett? Barrett was in a bad place when Bolan was riding the White Swann of success

Whoever was filming this was a bit high, the band is really getting it on, no wonder the lyrics bang a bong grew from this. Good plucking, but as yet no clear direction or presence. Just like a magnificent steam engine warning up before its maiden voyage. Awesome and as yet unfulfilled. How much bigger and far reaching their success could have and should have been, we can only guess.

This song especially and parts of Zinc Alloy era- T-Rex live showed off Bolan as a superb guitar stylist when he ditched the confines of the three minute pop song format. Marc became too conservative; he should have ventured out and experimented more.

Did you go to the May 71 gig in Brum. I've got a goddam awful tape of the gig. Did they play as a 3 piece. He opened with this and before makes a comment about playing a quieter or shorter set ??? I could also make out that he got the odd bit of stick as well. What are your recollections of the gig ??
