    I’m sorry but, when it comes to clothes Turkey surpasses the US! When I’m in Turkey with my American clothes on, NOBODY ever says. Oh my gosh, I love that! Where can I get it?? But, every time I wear clothing purchased in Turkey in America people ALWAYS love what I’m wearing and ask me where I bought it.

    • @louloumcdo7066
      @louloumcdo7066 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      That might also be because Turkish clothing is unusual and exotic in the US and people react to it whereas popular US clothing is known all over the world and is not so new to anyone, even in Turkey. Does that make sense?

    I'm a Turkish American. I lived in Turkey for 34 years and in the US for 28 years. As Chelsea said there are pros and cons between the two countries. However, for me, the US is the better one for opportunities, living standards, stable economic systems, rules of law, human rights, equality of women, animal rights, broad higher education system, better infrastructure and the higher value of citizenship abroad.
    Turkey's social life is more appealing. Family ties are stronger. People are more friendly. Since I was born and raised in Turkey, I'm very accustomed to the Turkish cuisine. Turkish historical sites are exceptional, etc.
    Overall, the US is better place for a working class. I had so much opportunities here that I couldn't even dream about having the same in Turkey. Politics have little to do with the ordinary people's life in the US, whereas, Silivri is always cold in Turkey.

I looked for a mozzarella in the supermarket and I hardly found just one type, while in my country I can find it in almost every supermarket. Instead they had a lot of feta (I would say it was a popular type of cheese which one can find in supermarkets). It was then that we could see the distinction between rich children and poor children. however, many schools do not use uniforms these days.

    Another interesting fact about the schools in turkey is that you can not die your hair, you can not enter the school if you have makeup on your face. Also boys are not allowed to enter the school if they are bearded. It used to be like that when i was in school. Besides if a student acts disrespectful, teacher could actually beat(slightly) the student. I dont know if it has changed since then. I guess discipline seems to be really important in terms of maintaining the system and harmony.

    Americans have a different dress culture than most of the world. Our every day dress is casual and comfortable, most people don’t dress up unless they are going somewhere important, and even then we might still wear jeans lol. But one thing about America when it comes to dress is that we love unique items of clothing. We appreciate clothes that are vintage or unique to a specific culture. It doesn’t need to be “on trend” for an American to appreciate the value of a unique cultural ensemble or perhaps something that is handmade, etc. Fashion in America is extremely unique compared to other parts of the world because it completely depends on the region as some areas of the US are colder or warmer than others, some tropical 🌴 and some cold and mountainous, and some desert 🌵 and flat, some wet and ☔️ rainy all the time so dress depends on that as well. Currently in America the style is “anything goes”, meaning we mix and match different styles to suite our individual tastes, we don’t always go with what is popular or “trendy” like Europe, but we are more individualistic. High school student or teenagers will definitely follow the trends, but as we evolve as a person most Americans will still consider the trends but incorporate their own sense of style and what feels good on them. That’s the best way for me to explain American dress. And yes, some Americans dress like slobs but not all of them do.

    I like the pros & cons format. It would be interesting if you touched on animal welfare, in the US we keep most cats and dogs off the streets, however many do get euthanized at shelters. Whereas in Turkey they gasp at the mention of euthanasia, but feel it’s totally acceptable to dump dogs in forests and let them fend for themselves, or live on the streets hungry, cold, in danger of traffic accidents. As an American living in Turkey it’s hard to decide which is the more fair approach. What’s your thoughts, Chelsea?

    4:56 Chelsea, Yes in Turkey as well there can be fights .But bullying is not present in Turkish schools. Becausee... We the Turkish society are different than the American society. You are more individual. We are more socially connected. So Bullies can not exist in schools Because people are connected and other students protect each other. So when a student gets bullied all the other students can rally around a solidarity for the weak student and they even beat the bully too. And the bully then gets its own punishment. That's why it can't happen. In subways also the bullies can not exist because other passengers support the weaks. And even unite aganist the agressor! and beat him so badly...That's the reason why. We Turks have a habit to stand with a weak person or a loser looking person. We do not crash 'em. But being a loser is the last thing to be in your culture.. And a reason to be crashed... In our schools there are bad ass students but they do not meddle into weak student's lifes. They even protect the weaks. They are bad ass for the other bullies or the people tring to be a bully. they are bad for the other thugs. that's what it is.

They wouldn’t tell me the price until after they finished...Another place in NC charged $55 for just a haircut.

My favorite is the Turkish breakfast, omg I can eat Turkish breakfast every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also you can go to different cities, and have different types of soups, and dishes that you cant find in Izmir for example. Shopping definitely America, very true they have more options. School yes Turkey for sure, kids are more respectful, and less bullying. Btw I love school uniforms too. Gov, right no comment there LMAO.

    Hi I'm a Turkis person and I think;
    The reason you wear a uniform is to show that everyone is equal as a human being within the school.
    A uniform is worn to get you used to following certain rules in workplaces, etc. at a time in the after age.
    In addition, in cases where everyone's financial situation is unequal, uniforms are worn so that the clothes worn do not reveal the person's condition and the person does not feel incomplete.

    You are right barbershops. There are a lot of male barbers who cut women's hairs. But There are very little female barbers who cut men's hair and beards. For example, I heard that when you went a barbershop in the USA, they gave you a barbers list. And you chose a barber. It wasn't important you to choose a female or male barber. But if it was so in Turkey and if a man chose a female barber and if that female barber cut another customer's hair or beard, she told that customer you can choose other barbers. And if that new customer told her no, I will wait for you, she got angry with that new customer very much.
