What a powerful moment in music that not many even know happened. Big respect to Jay for showing respect for a great human being that deserved his flowers. There’s certain gestures that are for attention and this was not that…this was from the heart
Actually got goose bumps when the crowd started singing the lyrics. Music is the bridge, Linkin Park still favorite band of all time and Chester. You are still missed brother. Collision course is my 2nd favorite album, thank you Jay for doing this. Much respect. We all struggle, and it is good to have people that you can open up to. What we are going through nowadays, it is good to have a good family to back you up.
Chester changed and affected so many of our lives, it doesn't matter if you were a famous rapper or just a kid. He resonated with all of us lyrically, emotionally, and spiritually. Linkin Park will go down as one of the greatest bands of all time, and you'd be stupid to argue it. Linkin Park experimented and evolved their music the same way that Led Zeppelin and a few other legendary bands have. Jay-Z was lucky to be a part of it and the history that Linkin Park made, he didn't have to do this, but Chester had an impact on everyone, everywhere. Thank you Chester for allowing us all the privilege to experience your art. You will forever be loved and missed.
My respect has also greatly increased I always loved Rock and metal and rap now being in my 40's I love so much different music' if it's good it's good. RIP to all great artists we've lost to soon

You are truly missed Chester. If anyone reading this in 2023 needs anyone to talk too, please reach out. If you know someone dealing with things make sure theyre doing alright. Much love to all the humans out there.
It amazes me how people who listen to rap refuse to listen to any other type of music. And how many people dont know about Chester or any other big metal act. Rap rock collabs have been a thing since the early 80s. If you only listen to rap get over the stereotype of oh it's just screaming. It's really not. as a metalhead by heart I listen to everything and metal had a lot of heart emotion and meaning. Much like some rap artists have this is testament that rap heads and metal heads are of the same heart do yourself a favor and explore music dont limit your tastes! Jay z is a beast and a great person and I thank him for bringing back this classic!
See I understand what you are saying but it's okay if you want to stick to a specific genre, it's all about how that music resonates and touches you, I always was stuck to rap then I found rock and metal but even though I still mainly listen to metal because it resonates with me and helps with anger issues, I still am able to enjoy gangsta rap, even bubblegum pop
7_camzilla_7 I think he’s addressing those who judge metal by stereotypes and not by actually listening to it. I have those friends, and it’s pretty frustrating when they say it’s just screaming, one friend said metal songs have no meaning.
That’s why I laugh when young kids and teens today are so impressed by Rock and hip hop mixes, in the works of Mike Shinoda: rappin over rock doesn’t make you a pioneer, rock and hip hop have collaborated for years...
Mental health is a real issue no one talks about. Thank you Jay for speaking and for this touching tribute. You are a legend.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love from India
Never really listened to Linkin Park, just ain’t really my favourite genre but I always remember this song from when I was a teenager and thinking how insanely good it was, the way these two very raw types and polar opposites merged perfectly to create this song. I don’t know much about Chester and his life but from the interviews I’ve seen of him and from the loyalty of his fan base and how other artists speak about him, he seemed like an exceptionally talented artist, who was by all accounts a very good person. It’s sad how this disease constantly takes so many people every day, anyone out there who’s struggling, remember to stay strong, keep fighting, talk to people and seek help, you can and will do this. RIP Chester
Nobody ever knows what goes on in others lives, no matter how close you are, mental health is NOT a stigma, it’s a real life problem.....Please look out for each other, and yourselves, you never know what is happening on the inside..... Take Care....RIP Chester.
I never was a big fan of Jay-Z, but the collab with Linkin Park will ALWAYS be legendary. This song deserves the same status as Walk This Way from Run DMC and Aerosmith

I cried too. In fact when it was over I watched it again and cried harder the second time I watched that stadium light up.
Chester.....You may have left this world but your spirit is still here and very strong!! We love & miss you brother!
The amount of Linkin park fans that where there and starting sining. Gabe my goosbumbs
No word, just pure chills 😱🥺😍
I didn’t know who Chester was until now (2021) but once I did a little research I realized I’ve heard many of linkin park songs through out my childhood and his voice definitely stood out the most. RIP man
Thanks Jay. This was great of you
3 years in November, crazy how life goes on so quickly, we miss you Chester hope heaven is treating you well
He did die in November. He died on July 20th 2016.
Green The Legend *2017
This is what annoys me- real fans pay attention to these things. A death date can be very poignant to some people especially when they are so influential and admired as chester is.
@@lizspirit8847 yeah I’m a fake fan, definitely don’t own all their albums on CD, several of their tour shirts, posters, and other memorabilia, been listening since I was in middle school and I’m 22 now lmao your fan status isn’t hinged on whether or not you remember when someone passed on im not obsessed with death that’s why you fuckers are sad all the damn time, I’d much prefer to remember the life they lived and not when they passed on
I got so many chills. Respect to Jay.
EDIT: well it’s not exactly the same outfit, my bad.
I just realized Jay was wearing the same outfit Chester wore when they played this together at the MTV Mash Up in 2004 😢
Good find, I was so caught up with having Goosebumps like if our Chester was right there performing I didn't realize it until I looked at it again 🖤 R.I.P CHESTER BENNINGTON
@@queenjenna2696 Yeah... I watched this right after it came out and didn't realize it. Honestly didn't even watch it this time because I can only handle Chester stuff in small doses and just made the observation by glimpsing the thumbnail. #ChesterForever
Not at all 😂
@@Vb98765 ?
@@EvanGilner he's not wearing the same thing.
What a class act I always respected jay z but this just made me respect him even more what a beautiful tribute
RIP Chester, i remember the first time i heard your music as a 13 year old in boarding school. Hybrid Theory blew my mind, been a fan ever since. Also, respect HOV for the tribute
And then there was that animated video of points of authority from [REANIMATION].....[L9]
Gos, this made me cry and its been almost 3 years... It still feels so fresh.
Much respect to jay for this. I never knew he did this until now. Mad respect
Props to Jay Z. This is why he is so iconic. I am glad I got to live through their mashup.
I'm crying this is wholesome af 😭😭😭
when the cell phones came out i damn near cried
Chief x Citgo it was beautiful! And the fact that Jay Z mentioned mental health help ( even if he’s a supporter or not) still it’s a big deal. Someone in the crowd in attendance could of been on the edge that night and possibly decided to get help all because he/she was reminded of how valuable their life is. As a survivor of this horrible illness, my heart aches for Chester. He didn’t need to leave a suicide note....it was all in the lyrics 😢
I thought of one more light when I saw that, and I pretty much started crying then
I know, I love cellphones too!!!
Same
Fucking tears pourin yo...
Choked up in tears watching this. I had so much in common with chester. Hits hard.
3 years later and still choke up when hearing this
It's as amazing as it was in 2004..... Thanks for giving this gift to the world ears... We miss you.. chester
Saw this video first time and can't stop crying. I Miss Linkin Park so much 😢
LP is da best 🎸🤘 but you have to hear “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🐺🐺🐺 right away !!! y’all missing out 🎹🎧💥. Find my comment there and let me know what you think 🙏
Yessss! Musical taste is mostly out of our hand at a young age. Once we do some living and realize all music is nothing but sound waves, it makes it easier to branch out. Also, very much worth it! Cheers, have wonderful Sunday!
This melts my heart! I just now saw this in Aug 2023, while going through old Chester footage. I'm absolutely stunned by this amazing act of compassion from Jay Z! This is what TRUE friends do for one another! ❤
I on behalf of all linkin park fans love this man. This hits home and continues to hurt to this day. You gain many of rock fans for this beautiful tribute. It’s touching and we respect and support you. RIP Chester 🙏🏻
This was the most beautiful thing to have ever happened and I love Jay Z for doing this
I come here sometimes to remember the good times and Chester for who he was. Thank you Jay.
I am a fan of both. I loved Linkin Park and was blessed to work a concert at the Horseshoe at THE Ohio State University I got to meet many of the artists and I feel so thankful for that experience. Hov is my favorite rapper and I've seen him four times. I owned this album and loved the mash up. It was amazing. RIP to Chester and much respect to Jay
i never really thought much about jay-z but seeing this video and seeing him do this just to respect Chester gives me so much respect for him
This was beautiful for Jay to do. Shows he has mad respect and love for Chester and what they did
theres only 2 rappers alive that deserve all the respect in the world for their action and constant show of respect and appreciations to fellow artists
thats Eminem and JayZ
You need to listen to more rap if you think that
How about Mike? Or NF?
@@timonvlems4683 theres plenty of other rappers who deserve a LOT of respect
my point is Eminem and JayZ are at the very top of that category for their actions when it comes to honoring their fellow artists
+Valentin Ramos Cuello i think i dont
@@timonvlems4683 Mike is a musician
My favorite song includes both of them. Renegades, was on the Blueprint (first), however, as good as it is, the version with Eminem and Royce is arguably better.
My respect has increased ever more for Jay-Z. Thank you from all of us that love Chester and miss him. Sometimes we're caught in the undertow and need that hand. Xoxo
Come back to this a year later and I'm still crying.
LP is da best 🎸🤘 but you have to hear “Whispering Wolf” by SLT 🐺🐺🐺 right away !!! y’all missing out 🎹🎧💥. Find my comment there and let me know what you think 🙏
A band that will forever be one of my favorites. Linkin Park got so many of us through some rough times in our lifes and Chester's memory and legend will continue to affect thousands more.
I love music of all sorts. The whole collab between Jay-Z and Linkin Park was amazing. Bless Jay.
this is so genuinely beautiful
I'm glad I had collision course back in 04.. I was 11 and loved linkin park. man time flies and when Chester died it was nuts.
The video when Jay z hears Chester's singing is amazing and this is also great
LP got me through some though times. I cry for Chester just like i cry for dad miss you both.
RIP Chester
They made a whole ep
Just cried my eyes out..jay z a real one for this. Mental health is no joke 🖤
Mad respect for Jay in giving props to Linkin Park and our late Ches. Bennington with this classic hit "Numb/Encore" ... RiP C.B.
When the lights went down and all the cell phone lights came on it was so beautiful. 💝
The world hurt and everyone cried when Chester left us. Jay knew that. This was his way to make sure we all grieved together as one big family.
Just hearing them say , “get em jay” at the beginning of the track just makes my heart ache. Rest In Peace Chester
never fail give me goosebumps “) i miss ya chester
Holla out there to everybody was there when this came out, and is still here watching this in 2021. Rock on.
even almost three years later, i have a hard time listening to linkin park sometimes, and i'd avoided watching this until now. made me cry right away. jay z is awesome for this. chester will always be missed
The way everyone turned their phone one Chester was loved. I wish he could see this
I can't believe i haven't seen this!
So amazing
TheRomanMind right ?? Stunning
I.am hearing this tribute for the first time. I am crying so hard. This is one of the most moving tributes I have heard. Wow and what heart felt and meaningful words spoken before the song. Props...... Mad respect shown for Chester. And you have most definitely earned so much respect right here. Thank you Jay Z.
Always dug Jay Z. Linkin Park was my shit in HS. When they did their mash up, I was ecstatic! Didn't think I could appreciate Jay any more, I stand corrected. Stand up dude. Rest easy Chester.
From a time when rap and rock came together as one. Absolutely beautiful time to be alive. They brought us all together as one and we rocked out and hung out as friends and family and discovered we have a lot more in common than one might initially think. We don’t need music to make it happen but it is something amazing to bond over.
Massive respect Jay
Still love this album & Chester.❤
Their album together was literally the definition of iconic.
Love that he and his audience cared about Chester and mental health in general... Class act!
