Great video my man! Communication skills are a huge part of the game and you're doing a excellent job with both describing the product and how it's used. Fantastic job, two thumbs up
Damn, I performed the same process on my RLX white bellonova pearl 3/16/2019...awesome combo, my ride is the shinest in Raleigh, North Carolina Territory too!!!!!!!!
New detailer here and I’ve watched so many videos on buffing and was scared to put a buffer on a car but man you explained everything so well and now I am confident to start. Thanks man
This is what I use on my personal black daily. Black is color that as a daily will be incredibly difficult to be better than 80% clean for more than a month or two. M205 does a great job of yearly maintenance without heavy cutting into the clear coat. The best part though is it creates enough depth and pop, but at the same time it also allows me to accept the fact that a black daily is going to have scratches and swirls.
Thing - is if you left any hazing behind after the 205 you've just covered them up with the quick detailer so you wouldn't know, and also you add an extra wax removal step after the polish if you want to apply ceramic coating which risks adding more scratches. I would lubricate with just water, or possibly an IPA solution to remove the 205 polish so you wipe once and prep for the next coat in one stroke. If you apply a long term wax on top of that quick detailer it will last 5 minutes :-/
Man, I love foam pads too! The green hex is my go to with a cutting compound, but with something like M205, it's a great one step. In a finishing situation, I'll use the blue Hex pad. Usually on speed 4 or 5 on a PC 7424 - the 1st gen!
I know this is old vid but WOW!!! That actually looks like a mirror dude! I mean it's like it's not even black it's so highly reflective your getting so much light back in your eyes from the finish at times you can hardly discern the color of the vehicle! Impressive !
I should've watched this before I threw that 205 in the garbage. I couldn't beleive how difficult it was to remove, I thought I was doing something wrong or it was junk. Never thought to lubricate it to remove it. I since have started using "Blue Diamond" from detail king. Easier removal. Another great teaching tool, I like seeing the heavier pad to the polish. Never real sure about mixing things up like that. Worry about finish product.
How do you polish and wax areas where your DA polisher can’t fit, such as behind the door handle, between mirrors and windows, and painted area between the emblems? Thanks. Might be a good video to present to us.
Damn, I performed the same process on my RLX white bellonova pearl 3/16/2019...awesome combo, my ride is the shinest in Raleigh, North Carolina Territory too!!!!!!!!
I use Scholl and I think it has the edge on m205 and Scholl s3 gold is better than m101 imo. m105 gets beaten by m101 in many YT videos I'v seen, I started with Megs but now I prefer Scholl polishes and their pads are amazing, they are a bit dear but worth every penny.
Can someone explain why Meguiars 205 is used as a polish but it says on the bottle "mirror glaze"? I thought polishes actually cut scratches out of the clear coat but glazes are a surface treatment that fills in the scratches. How can one product do both?? And if this is a combo product with both properties, then wouldn't you want to not remove the leftover residue since that is actually the glazing portion?
Ya I tape things off most of the time, it's just in this specific situation I was able to manage without doing it, but yes it is always a smart thing to do to keep product from getting in the creases, and to keep from burning edges, so I would always encourage it!
Any swirls? Does the m205 remove swirls as well? Also, question: if the m205 is a light cutter, why did you use a heavy cutting foam pad? Wouldn't the foam pad be useless if the polish is light cutting anyway?
@@n3ro209 Don't think this guy is gonna reply! He's not replied to most of the questions as far as I can see. I hate people like this! Gonna thumbs down!
pofrani perhaps he’s a busy guy, just don’t expect him to reply right away. On a side note I read other comments here and someone else asked the same question, which he replied by saying that he wanted to have a little more cutting power by using a more aggressive pad, since he was only doing a one step polish. Now if he were to be doing a two step polish, he would begin using a more aggressive pad at the first step, then finishing off with a light cut / polishing pad. Hope this answers your question.
You shouldn't run the polisher at a higher speed, you need a cutting pad if you want better cutting results. Running a lower speed with a more aggressive pad can help prevent scouring of the paint surface if you're new to polishing. Also, if you need to smash the pad into your paint, you're straining your tool and it's another sign you need a more aggressive pad.
Hey, Wondered if you could give me some advice, looking to one step my dads range rover evoque and wondered what I should use, pad and polish etc? any recommendations
Little complicated question: I have used 4x rotary on bmw f10. 3x Meguiars 205 with Polish W8207 pad and 1x Meguiars 205 with Meguiars W9207 finishing pad. All 4 times I was between 1300 and 1700 rpm, cca 5-6 passes every time, average arm speed and light to medium pressure. Yesterday I measured my car thickness and I was in shock. Doors are between 51 micron and 68 microns..Is it possible that I have removed 10 microns with 4x polishing with rotary and this combo? I am sorry for my bad english. TNX!
Excellent video, just a quick question. I understand m205 is a mild finishing polish so I was wondering if I could use m205 as a maintenance polish twice a year before i seal using a polishing or finishing pad on a pc? I plan to keep my car for atleast 10 to 12 years and i dont want to burn through the clear coat by the time I get rid of it. Thanks in advance
Ya definitely a great question, I think if it were me I would only polish once a year, I think anything more than that is a little excessive, and not that you would definitely go through the clear coat if you did twice a year, but if you are wanting to keep it for 10 plus years, I just don't think I would do more than once a year! Thanks for the questions man! Let me know if you need anything else!
Thanks so much for the response. I actually left out an important part in which still may not change your answer overall but what i left out was when I said polishing with m205 with a softer pad on a da twice a year I'm using very light pressure on a lower speed to more a less glaze the paint while taking out super fine defects and then seal the paint to lock in the shine and that's why I normally do it twice a year after claying of course
Thanks again Luke, I'm glad I'm doing this in a safe way. As far as starting out detailing goes would it be fine if i just used megs m105 and m205 for most jobs? I have so much of it and figured that would be all I needed as far as compounds and polish goes combined with a variety of different da pads. If I may ask, how many polishes do you carry with you to a job and how do you choose which polish you use when seeing the car? I understand that if it's heavier oxidized paint I would just go with m105 and finish with 205 and if the car just has light swirls and scratches to just polish with m205 so I'm just trying to figure out why using anything else would be appropriate unless a different polish would finish down better or be easier to.
In this particular case I wanted to get a little more cutting done when I was using the 205 because I was only doing a single stage polish, so I can accomplish a little bit more when I combine it with a more medium cut pad
Depends on how severe the swirls are. Keep in mind, the type of pad is a part of the equation. A LC yellow or orange pad combined with 205 may work wonders for you without the need for the harsher 105. Heavier scratches/swirls may need 105; especially if the overall paint condition isn't that great. I'd try 205 first if I were you. Follow up with a quality sealant/wax after you're happy with the paint correction.
Pedro Vasquez no definitely not! Polishing is a totally separate beast from regular detailing and so I only reserve polishing for my customers who want to pay for that kind of service to restore the paints original luster and remove scratching and oxidation, but I would definitely say wax is a must. A sealant can be used anytime really, the only thing that it is for really is protection and visual enhancement kind of like wax, but andealant lasts much longer, normally around 12 month, so it puts on a very durable layer of protection when compared to wax. But again this is a service that I reserve for customers who actually want to pay for that. Does that help my man?
I use an IPA wash, 50/50 alcohol and distilled water, and I use meguiars synthetic express spray wax, here is a link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005JPJMI2/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B005JPJMI2&linkCode=as2&tag=wilson0f3-20&linkId=afa2f7d80f822ae961918a7742120b75
Luke I have a couple questions that might just help my polishing after watching this video. First, how do you make an Isp solution, I think this is what I was missing in my ability to polish correctly. also, do I need to wipe down with Isp as the last step before applying the wax or sealant? Last question and most important for me, Im getting alot of dusting on not just the 205 but also been trying griots boss cremes which are suppose to be better. Im not sure how to either clean my pads more often or am I overworking the product. I hate having to wipe the whole car down after, very time consuming.
Henry R hey Henry I don't think I understand all of your questions fully, the isp wash can be as simple as 70/30 or 80/20 distilled water to alcohol. And as far as the dusting issue I don't think I know what you're asking, could you ask in a different way?
The reason for wiping down with isp is to remove any leftover polishing oils or residue before sealing. He showed in this video you can use quick detailer instead if you just want to finish with a spray wax.
Henry R..i'm not saying this is what you are def doing but it might be you are over working the product, when you next use the polisher have a glance behind were you have just been over with the polisher and see if it has not flashed yet, either that or try some thing like scholl products s20 black vids on you tube can be worked for ages before it flashes...hope this helps...forensic detailing in the uk has done a good review of the scholl range...
ZombieFeathers Im definitely not using any isp wipe down prior or after im polishing so I think that might be why Im not getting good end results. I will doing this step for sure now.
richardkkirk Thank you, I do think I might be making to many passes to quickly or overlapping to much which causes the polish to dust up to soon. I usually clean the pad after 2 panels. maybe I should clean it more often.
Yes. A cutting polish will always effect the clear coat. The goal of using a cutting compound/polish is to level the clear coat with the other imperfections/scratches to then make the imperfections disappear.
Which polish is best for those customers whose cars not polished from long day back. And I want to know the difference between meguiars ULTIMATE POLISH & meguiars ULTRA FINISHING POLISH. & Which is better.
I can’t say there is a best polish just because every situation is so different. But obviously cars that have not been polished in a long time need to be heavily corrected more than likely. The difference between these two products is going to be the difference between a heavier cutting polish and a less aggressive polish. Meguiars finishing polish being the less aggressive polish
What's up bro I have just started watching your channel and I'm wanting to get into detailing are there any kind of certificates or courses that I need to take to enchance knowledge?
Wilson Auto Detailing I think he means a car that has some what clear coat paint fading... car that has never been wax or buff polish...? sorry I had to Google it.😉
ProngedVermin0 Alex Hahahaha OK understood, yes you can definitely wash a car that has clearcoat failure but it is not going to improve the clearcoat at all so really your best option is to either get a new car or get it repainted…
I only suggest people polishing their vehicles once a year, that’s my opinion of course, but I would say more than that is a bit overkill. M205 is a less aggressive polish so I’m sure you could use it twice a year with no issue, I just wouldn’t want to go to all that effort
great question! I guess my answer would just be the M105 is normally what I would pick out of those 2, however I think 101 has its place, but it would be so rare that it's not really worth it to me
Hey I want to do a one step polish on my summit white 2015 Camaro and I have a 10 inch rotary polisher that will need a polishing bonnet. I’ve never done this before I would appreciate any advice and if you could point me in the right direction of products. Also I got the car brand new two years ago and I’ve only waxed it about 5 times and I wash it once a week but I do have light scratches. Please help! Thank you!
Hey alex, in all honesty it is difficult to advise you simply because I cannot stand in front of the car, and rotary polishers are a whole different animal, and I would be crazy to attempt to explain how to actually polish using a rotary over the comments, so I would suggest watching as many videos as you possibly can about the subject, and even get an experienced rotary guy to help you in person! Its a little sticky to do without any help... but I believe in you!
Hi Alex, just to advise it's really difficult to work with a rotary polisher if you've never done it before. You will very probably leave holograms on your paint or because rotaries are a way more cutting device you can also remove a lot of your clear coat which affects your paint directly. The best way to go is to buy a DA and heavy to medium pads and medium compound to get rid of those swirls and light scratches.
Soft Plastics Fishn definitely try a metal polish like mothers and hand polish. If you don't like the results then move to a machine. Metals polish is more abrasive. I use it on chrome and it looks great after
How often can I use this polish on a black 2013 Audi? Also is the same product safe to use on headlights with the da? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Yes it is safe with the DA on headlights. My professional opinion is the polish no more than once a year partly because of what polishing does to the clear coat and partly because I think any more is just unecessary. But that’s just me!
105 is a heavy cutting compound, meaning it is going to be more aggressive, whereas 205 is a finishing polish i.e. not very aggressive, removes very very fine swirls and scratches, restores a lot of the gloss, hope that makes sense! :D
My 10-year-old car need to be polished. I'm the type of person who likes to experiment and try everything, I said I'd try it out. So I started searching on internet and found your videos. You make great videos, and they are an inspiration for me. Keep doing ;-)
Ya I am a huge fan of my rupes DA, it definitely gets the job done, and their polishes are great, if you haven't tried menzernas polishes, definitely do that, menzerna is my number one as of right now
Great video my man! Communication skills are a huge part of the game and you're doing a excellent job with both describing the product and how it's used. Fantastic job, two thumbs up

Jeffrey Carson you right that m 205 is junk it dont work that good i will never use it again try hd speed its wayyyy better
Good luck, good fortune & many many customers for years!! Awesome vid, tnx!!🙏
I use the harbor freight DA and meguairs ultimate compounds currently , indo plan on going into the heavier weights like 105 and 205
m205 is a beast and the shine that it leaves is ready to be protected by your favorite wax or sealant like Fusso Coat from Japan!!!!!!
How do you polish and wax areas where your DA polisher can’t fit, such as behind the door handle, between mirrors and windows, and painted area between the emblems? Thanks. Might be a good video to present to us.
Yes. I brought the product and followed his instructions and my Nissan now is like a mirror.

Great video.
I rarely use this now, since I tried Griots Perfecting Cream. Though, I have to admit the price is great for a 32oz
Thanks John! I will definitely have to try out griots perfecting cream!
Also try Griots fast correcting cream. Little dusting, long working time, easy wipe off, excellent glossy shine
$18.99 for 32ounce of m205!!! that's it I'm moving to America! it's $99.99 here down under! wtaf.

richardkkirk Thank you, I do think I might be making to many passes to quickly or overlapping to much which causes the polish to dust up to soon. I usually clean the pad after 2 panels. maybe I should clean it more often.
Is the M205 going to have an effect on the clear coat of the vehicle?
Yes. A cutting polish will always effect the clear coat. The goal of using a cutting compound/polish is to level the clear coat with the other imperfections/scratches to then make the imperfections disappear.
Vs ultimate polish?
Which polish is best for those customers whose cars not polished from long day back. And I want to know the difference between meguiars ULTIMATE POLISH & meguiars ULTRA FINISHING POLISH. & Which is better.
I can’t say there is a best polish just because every situation is so different. But obviously cars that have not been polished in a long time need to be heavily corrected more than likely. The difference between these two products is going to be the difference between a heavier cutting polish and a less aggressive polish. Meguiars finishing polish being the less aggressive polish
How many pads did you go through for this vehicle Luke?
I kept one!
Thanks luke
Of course Jeffrey! Thank you|!
What’s a good pad for removing buffer trails after compounding? With megs 205
Arjun Singh Any polishing pad
What's up bro I have just started watching your channel and I'm wanting to get into detailing are there any kind of certificates or courses that I need to take to enchance knowledge?
Brian Staggers To be honest man just watch hours of TH-cam and learn your chemicals
Is the Griots red and black finishing pad ok to use?
Definitely, it's great!
Its my go to when correcting a poorly kept car.
Nice luke im curious how old are you?
Hello how do u wash a car that has paint already falling apart? Do you restore it or do you just clean it up
Honestly I might not wash it or take that job at all, I guess it just depends on what you mean when you say paint that is falling apart
Wilson Auto Detailing I've seen cars were the paint can't be restore anymore because theirs no more clear coat.
Hey luke do you think you could make a short video explaining the difference between paint enhancement and paint correction?
Definitely!!
How often can you use M205? Every 3-4 mos too much given the abrasives?
I only suggest people polishing their vehicles once a year, that’s my opinion of course, but I would say more than that is a bit overkill. M205 is a less aggressive polish so I’m sure you could use it twice a year with no issue, I just wouldn’t want to go to all that effort
If you need to polish every 3-4 months you need to reevaluate your wash/drying methods my man
How many of those bottles you need for a car like the one you’re doing
Just one. I bet one will last you at least 5 cars minimum
Ok thanks man
Rubbing alcohol and water can help strip sealant, waxes, residue and stuff like that off vehicles
Any opinions on M101 vs M105?
great question!
Wilson Auto Detailing I appreciate it! Lets see what I can learn and accomplish. Thanks for the videos 🙏🏻
Hi Alex, just to advise it's really difficult to work with a rotary polisher if you've never done it before. You will very probably leave holograms on your paint or because rotaries are a way more cutting device you can also remove a lot of your clear coat which affects your paint directly. The best way to go is to buy a DA and heavy to medium pads and medium compound to get rid of those swirls and light scratches.
keybarbarosa okay will do thank you!
Hhhm can you use that after rubbing compound ?
Absolutely, it is a finishing polish after all
Can you review M105
kid from the neighbourhood watched some detailing videos and became a detailer, wtf
Is this more aggressive than m66?
Same cut on the cutting scale, 4, but 66 has some protection with it, usually a month at best.
Maybe cut back on the Red Bulls?
Hahahaha I don’t drink energy drinks.... terrible for your heart
You are correct, sir, and very bad for your liver as well. Keep making great vids!
Or the cocaine!
What is your steps to washing a car?
1:43 ISP is the new IPA
Can I use dat for my chrome bumpers from a car n the 40s
Depends! Is it clear coated?
Wilson Auto Detailing not sure I didnt know chrome has clear coat
Soft Plastics Fishn definitely try a metal polish like mothers and hand polish. If you don't like the results then move to a machine. Metals polish is more abrasive. I use it on chrome and it looks great after
you didnt say how many section passes you do aplying pressure and how many passes aplying no presure....
what wax did you finish it off with????
Technically the very last thing I finishes with was meguiars synthetic express spray wax
One problem with Luke he never answers your comment.
kyle brian 55 years old now 2020
You're like the Duracell bunny
omg, you mean the energizer bunny. for the love of god, man. now my day is ruined.
If you are teaching on how fast or slow to go you shouldn't speed up the video
I bought 205... couldnt hardly get it off the paint.... tried different ways... ill never use it again
That's because you overworked the product and it flashed over or you tried to do too much panel and ran out or product.
IPA solution !
Isp solution?
Deje Dejsson ya IPA, I've heard detailers use both so I just use both, but ya IPA
What's the difference between 105 and 205?
105 is a heavy cutting compound, meaning it is going to be more aggressive, whereas 205 is a finishing polish i.e. not very aggressive, removes very very fine swirls and scratches, restores a lot of the gloss, hope that makes sense! :D
How you learn to polishing?
I had a guy train me in my area, as well as LOTS of practice and research of my own... experience is a great teacher when it comes to polishing
My 10-year-old car need to be polished. I'm the type of person who likes to experiment and try everything, I said I'd try it out. So I started searching on internet and found your videos. You make great videos, and they are an inspiration for me. Keep doing ;-)
What is a “DA” polisher?
Dual Action
Charles Farris Jr ah…thank you very much for that.
This guy needs to switch to Decaf. !
This honeycomb shaped polishing pad May 8th trap particles that will cause swirls on the paint ...that is my guess
That car looked okay before you worked on it.
There are so much stuff out there better than the 205
There are definitely a lot of products that are higher grade, I like 205 because it is a work horse in my opinion
alvarado hector like what ?
ah: you can't just make that statement and then not provide any examples of "so much stuff." honestly, i want to know, for my own application.
Ipa won’t strip wax
What about menzerna.
+Gary Pleasant love menzerna as well!! Amazing!
top
WOW O SHIT
hahahahah awesome right!
I use Rupes to polish. Way better than Meguiars. Of course I use the full system not just the polish but also pads and machine
Ya I am a huge fan of my rupes DA, it definitely gets the job done, and their polishes are great, if you haven't tried menzernas polishes, definitely do that, menzerna is my number one as of right now
