@happylifegiannamilalily In general, the strips can be taken of any width. It looks more beautiful when wide and narrow strips of fabric alternate. This is in my opinion.❤️

Love your designs and ideas. When I began quilting I was taught to cut away from myself, you get a better cut and it’s much safer.

What should the finished square size be please? I noticed there is not a finished picture with the square size.
In the first design the finished block size is 6 inches, in the second it is 7 inches
I notice your square is 9.5 inches. With cutting strips 1.5 and 2 in, I can only get a 9 in square. What am I doing wrong?
You may have a seam allowance larger than 1/4 inch.
