“What’s that movie where she is staring out the window?”
“The Woman in The Window?”
Quintessence of why I love this channel. Digging the new seating placements y’all have as well.
SAME 😂
Always look forward to Nick's dramatic reading of the movie title!
This one was especially dramatic, LOL! So much gravitas.
The way he always looks over a Joseph and Joseph tries to keep a straight face staring into the camera.
And Joseph overt ambivalence 😂😂😂😂😂
He is too funny sometimes! 😅
Quite frankly I love it
Nick ate with this title announcement 😂
I finally saw Nightbitch now that it’s on Hulu, and it's truly wonderful. The film beautifully captures a feeling many mothers share: the longing for the life they had before children. I deeply appreciate how the Amy Adams character never mistreats or blames her son. Much of the discourse on motherhood focuses on regret towards children, but this film accurately portrays it as a mourning of one's pre-parenthood self. As a single mother, this resonated deeply, offering both comfort and a powerful reminder of my strength. I created life - I am a 'goddess,' and I'm proud.
I'm glad the film avoided a catastrophic event, keeping the tone relatively lighthearted. This approach makes the emotional impact more genuine. It's a fantastic film! Amy Adams delivers an incredible performance. I'm thrilled to see women portrayed on screen as real, beautiful individuals. This film was a refreshing and much-needed portrayal of motherhood.
I’m always shocked when Joseph likes the movie 😂 🍿
The majority of my friends and I don't have kids. Its not uncommon to get comments like, "Your clock is ticking" "You're going to die alone", or they think something is wrong with you in general. I'm fine with my cat and plants. I'm glad that the stigma around not having kids to getting help with PPD are changing.
I mean, your friends are right. Just because there are more people making the same mistake as you does not minimize the severity of your mistake.
@@Andygee1991what mistake are you referring to? The choice to not bring a child to this world that you cant provide for or offer emotional support to? Yeah totally a mistake. It's always better to bring a child to this fkd up world to be unhappy with 😊
If you don't want a child not having it is not a mistake.
@@Andygee1991 The majority of her friends don't have kids, so they clearly aren't the assholes who think there's something wrong with her.
@@Andygee1991it’s her life bro if she doesn’t want kids she shouldn’t have to have them who are you to tell them how to live their life and telling them they’re making a mistake?
@@SmollPeenGuy I'm a human being with a different opinion than you, and I'm going to share it.
What an intriguing movie title! And of course Nick did not disappoint with his dramatic reading of the title. 😊
16 years!!!! I love ya'll!!!
I really liked the relationship between the parents. They always seemed honest with each other and were not afraid to apologize. The little boy in the bathtub scene was so adorable and he was just excellent throughout.
"I didn't know they made a movie about when I run out of Ambien, how flattering"
-Me
It always cracks me up the way dog packs are depicted in movies and television. Who dafaqu is out there, just letting their dogs run loose in suburbia at night?! LOL
Exactly
As a mother, I thought this movie and the book it was adapted from were both excellent. I have felt literally every feeling the mother in the story does. Most of the negative things I’ve heard about it are coming from men who are offended or feel attacked by it. On the contrary, I thought the relationship she has with her spouse, especially in the book, is an example of an otherwise healthy and loving marriage which suffers from a lack of communication. When I watched the movie, I also found myself wishing I could be more like the Amy Adams character. Despite her inner turmoil, she really is just a wonderful mother and is so patient with her son. The scenes of her and the actor who plays the little boy were just magic.
Joseph: I'm very busy. I'm very important. So yeah, I'm a Nightbitch. 😂😂
Yours is the first positive review that made me want to see this film. Thanks.
The idea it conveys that one is not a failure/selfish, if you can't fulfil a nurturing role single-handedly,😬, while faking a smile - you're correct to spot how layered the premise can actually become, with a nice, open-ended end too😉
Very thoughtful review on a complex story.
@Fish Jelly Reviews OMG the way Nic said Bitchland made me fall over laughing!! You both bring be so much needed joy!!
Love these reviews. Always looking forward to the title announcement. This one did not disappoint 🤣
16:13 something that’s worth noting about this scene is her grandma appears to be practicing Kabbalah (a Jewish practice). Both my mother and I practice. This actually gives a lot to the generational history, as her grandma appears to be a German Jew who’s hidden this part of her family and culture, while they all live on Amish American land. It shows that every woman in her family she’s known has to hide and suppress a huge part of themselves. This is also meant to emphasize the generational cycle that’s ending (by the birth of her daughter), with her daughter never having to see this as an expectation in the family. (The novel writter is also a Jew, which makes it seem very purposeful imo).
I loved this movie. As a mom myself (my baby is now 15), I felt so seen. My husband is very helpful (always has been) but I still sometimes feel like the default parent. There’s a lot of pressure to do it all although I know some of that is self-inflicted. I didn’t really get the dog metaphor and I hated that she killed the cat. Poor kitty. Overall, I thought it was really solid. P.S: I loved the scene where he says, “I know, I’m babysitting” and she tells him, “it’s not babysitting if it’s your own kid”. Again, I felt so seen.
Gurl!! I almost screamed when he said the word " babysit" why does society work this way 😢
I bet people are going to hate on this simply because Amy Adams did not look conventionally “Hollywood attractive.” Which is so ironic, because that is one of the facets of womanhood that is oppressive after you become a mother. Great review.
I hate it because it was a terrible film
She never looked "Hollywood attractive". Don't get me wrong, she's very pretty, but I wouldn't her consider to be Hollywood attractive.
Ironically, as a woman, I love That they portrayed her as a real looking human
This will be good, I can count on Adams to deliver. And the premise is good, family can make you feel wild feelings.
So happy I found you two!
4:00 I am a woman that had a baby, I just watched it and I am at the same point in my life that the main character is at. My son is also 2 and all the thoughts she expressed were things that crossed my mind. All the situations with her toddler I have experienced. I felt seen. Somehow it made me feel less alone as a mother of a child with a partner who is working so much they aren't home much.
(I'm not upset with my partner btw, I just feel like I'm alone most of the time)
The isolation is a real thing moms face. Also when people say "go to a moms group" I think "great more places to catch something new and then for two weeks I'm sucking snot" I'll never forget when I invited a mom over for a playdate and her hands were peeling when I asked she said "Oh we had foot and mouth a week ago" 😯😯 Sure enough my kid got hand foot and mouth and I read it your hands or nails are peeling you are still shedding the virus. Since then I would actually ask people "have you been sick?"
@oc2538 when my son was 2 months old my sister in laws kids (she has four) got RSV and a few days later she brought them around my son. When I voiced concern she said, "the doctor says they aren't contagious anymore." 20 hours later my son was sick. He already was born with breathing issues and on a ventilator after birth. I didn't sleep more than an hour a night for a week. It was awful watching my son turning blue because he couldn't breathe and ER doctors telling me there was nothing they could do to help while my son's entire abdomen was collapsing in with every breath. My son survived but I was terrified for 2 weeks. I'm still pretty upset 2 years later. It was so irresponsible. Her mom made me feel like I was crazy
Y'all pick the best thumbnails. That's what I look like when I babysit so I totally get the transformation. Kudos to all the moms 👍🏽
I know the names of every actor and director like Nick, but I be talkin bout movies the way Joseph do 🤣 when me and my homeboys is arguin bout a movie or the name of an actor, I always say "Well, we get into it" 😭💀
10:22 I saw a review that had 1 star that said "the main character was difficult to look at" that hurt because that's what a mother looks like. I was 89lbs before I was pregnant with my son and my doctors were constantly telling me to gain weight. Then I had my kid and now I've had guys call me fat.... I am currently at a healthy weight.
I love that they made the choice to show her in a normal looking size. ❤ made me relate on a whole other level!
What an unexpectedly positive review for this film. Your perspectives have made me want to watch this as soon as i can. Always appreciate your insights 🙂
This is another fantastic review. I have just found your channel and I love it. Many thanks and happy new year :D
My new favorite past time is watching films and checking my appraisal with yours! Grateful for your work!
Joseph you are a very empathetic and emotionally intelligent person.
This was one of those films that I wasn't sure if I'd go see it or not, but after seeing you guys enjoyed it I'll be sure to give it a shot. I find myself agreeing with you more than I disagree.
I'm sorry but anytime I think of Amy Adams, she reminds me of the interaction Joseph had with Isla Fisher where he confused the two and she got mad 😂 Apologies if I was i was off with the retelling. You mentioned the interaction in one of your earlier podcast episodes
Nope that's right lol
@@fishjellyfilmreviewsI did the same thing except I'm pretty sure it was the other way around. I think 😅
The anticipation! Are they going to DRAG the hell outta this or… I’m thinking they are going meh on this one. That trailer was Gawd Awful.
Knowing Nick's enthusiastic pronunciation of film titles, I've been anticipating this review ever since I knew the title. Sounds like he's introducing a dope ass punk band!
I appreciate the warning about the dead cat. Can't watch this.
Yeah, I love cats
It seems there is a growing trend to include some degree of animal cruelty in alot of movies! If there's a family pet you can bet it's gonna be abused/killed. WHY! I just hate it.
Interested to see your review of this, as I recently finished the book and had a hard time getting through it (for reasons that probably wouldn't affect a film/visual adaptation). Haven't seen the limited series yet, though I do generally like Amy Adams and her choices of projects/roles.
In the book, it definitely showed that she changed into a real dog. And the "friends" she meets are ALSO canines as well. They did approach her as dogs, and they formed a bond. I'm surprised the film didn't explore that aspect of the book. That was my favorite elements.
The death of the cat was way more graffic in the book. The mother tears the cat apart with her mouth while not in dog form and the son sees the bloody aftermath of it. I can see why they toned it down but I do wish the movie focused more on the mother being worried about how the son might be affected by seeing it.
I feel like my ex needs to watch this video to understand that not everyone can be happy everyday
I quite enjoyed this film and selfishly am glad you two did as well. It’s the type of movie I just know some of my friends will NOT get…. So it’s wonderful to find a positive conversation about the film. Amy Adams was sensational and really all the supporting characters were as well. Terrific script, beautifully shot, great soundtrack and it played with humor without becoming too campy. Which really is a feat given the concept
When Nick said, "Night Bitch" my 3 year old said, "He said something RUDE". lol
That’s very real. I’m not a mother but def understand the pressures of womanhood and taking care of myself isn’t allowed in such a society. We’re engineered to care for others at any cost even to our own needs. That’s how I know she finna divorce him.
Oh I been waiting for this 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Best title read ever
19:07 ok.. I've been through that exact situation. The options were let him sleep with me or let him scream and cry for 3 hours straight. I started out doing everything the books and doctors said for a year and a half. But my son never slept. For 2-4 hours until I brought him in the bed. Now he sleeps in the bed and everyone sleeps pretty well. (My son still doesn't sleep perfect but he has night terrors and the doctor has us giving him melatonin)
Not gonna lie, this movie looks WILD. Im not sure what to expect, thanks for the thoughtful preview!
Wow 4/5 from Joseph, I literally called it in the beginning of the video when he said it was excellent ☺️
The title reading was everything lol
I'm so glad it's good and I can't wait to see it. I agree with Joseph, I love that Amy Adams looks like a real person.
The trailer was not the greatest so I was scared this would be terrible!
Yeah Amy Adams looking natural is something i can appreciate considering how rare that is with Hollywood actresses especially these days. She's a beautiful woman.
I am so glad you had this in your best movies for 2024. I watched it based on your recommendation, and loved it! I thought it was such a powerful message and very relatable. I also spent a long time talking about the film after it finished. I don’t understand why it got overall negative reviews elsewhere… I totally got it and was completely invested.
Love the review (and Joseph's arms) 🖤🖤
Love hearing that you connected with the experience of exhaustion
I clicked to hear Nick say the movie title and he did NOT disappoint. Love it here!
Love you guys ❤
Drink ready, hopefully I’ll laugh through the heatwave here. 🥵
Having to abandon her art career and *only* be a mother is so sad to me
Great video! ❤
Whenever Joseph says, "I thought this movie was excellent," I always think about Martha Stewart. Let me explain. Because I view it as the equivalent to saying, "It's a good thing."
Another baby??!!
She’s def going to divorce him after this second baby. She needs to focus on herself
I thought Can You Forgive Me? featured one of Melissa McCarthy's better performances. ❤
Sidenote: The Mahogany era shirt on Nick..😍
I enjoyed it. The only thing that slightly bothered me is the husband was so amicable that it almost seemed like the problem the movie presented could have been solved within the first five minutes. I suppose she just wasn't sure what she wanted, but there didn't seem to be any obstacle from the husband that would make it feel as if she had to do it all. The husband was really amendable to her desires, he was nearly submissive. She's like "I think we need to separate." and he's just like "Okay, if that's what you want." And then goes and gets an apartment somewhere else while she stays in the house? I don't know maybe I'm jaded because my own dad was an a-hole.
I found this movie amazing. I don’t really care what people say. Excited to watch your vid.
I'm only interested in this for Amy Adams. It's been too long since she's been in something good. If I like this then maybe I can force myself to read the book. It's been on my tbr for a year lol.
She killed it in The Master and Nocturnal Animals. Fantastic actress.
Just had to Chime in about something other than Bitch's!! Let's Talk about HAIR!! How in the hell can Joseph's Hair grow back so quickly? Is That some sort of Wizardry? Whatever you're doing keep doing it "! It's FABULOUS.👏👍💯🤗😏 NICK NEEDS to show us his"! BAAHAHAHAHAH.🤫😬🤣😂HAIR!!😘🥰😍💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
Comparing this to Tully...What's your take on Motherhood films? I am curious about this one and really liked Tully.
I liked this movie a lot. Surprisingly relatable
Hey great video, can't wait to see this one! Have you guys heard of this new documentary called Witches on Mubi? It's a doc about postpartum psychosis using cinematic portrayals of witches as a framework, I thought you might be interested
No. It does sound interesting.
17:05 Its the fact men are NEVER EVER ASKED who will take care of the baby. And if you are pregnant a woman will be asked a dozen times "WiLl yOu cOmE bAcK to wOrK?" It is automatically assumed it will be the mother. And I'm sure working moms get a lot of comments about where will the child go, finding a daycare before even giving birth, wishlists etc. Plus if a child is sick, its usually the woman who will miss work. And yes when men stay home they get comments but women are the ones responsible for finding the child care and usually what happens is if her salary isn't high enough to justify the cost of daycare a mother may step back. Also the husband consistently is away, so even if she did a 9-5 in a gallery her husband isn't around even after to pick up the slack.
It would be better if she really turned into a dog 😂😂😂😂
I love these guys!
Nicks "Night Bitch!!!" Is everything!!
5:49 I do this with the cat because I spend every minute of the day holding and cuddling my child and then the cat wants every minute I have to spare to sit on me. (The cat has 9 other people in the house to cuddle btw and I do cuddle him frequently)
Thank you for the review. This one didn’t quite work for me. It didn’t get weird enough. Amy Adams was excellent though
Amy Adams is incredible ❤
Someone’s getting their guns on 👀
Amy Adams is 50, okay.
Message definitely felt real with me in a don't give up on your dreams get more serious about it way but I thought the movie was just fine.
Love Scoot.
Hasn’t this movie already been made?? It’s called Bitch , from 2017
Omg! Totally see the similarities ❤
I found this movie to be very good and very hard to watch
I really liked this movie!
How do you go from Lois Lane to Night Bitch? That's nuts!
Due to the kitty i wont be watching this one. But i do appreciate yall reviewing it.
Someone been working out.
Wait, married for 16 years to...a female?
Are you guys married or just bffs curious question I’m a new sub but yall are both halarious and handsomes 🥹
Married
Post natal psychosis. Nothing simple
16:47 that would be fair. And it would have helped people on al sides of the fence
I was put off by the name. Never heard of the book so it seemed to come from left field and I thought it was some pop culture new casual vulgarity for the sake of appealing to a much younger crowd than even the main character would be. I thought it was a more silly comedy from the title, but couldn't believe people's tastes had become that tasteless. I was confused when I saw the commercials. I'm happy that I heard your review. Would be more interested in seeing it now.
#1st🎉⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡😎🎥
See, when a main character kills their pet they lose all sympathy from me. Even more so when the movie acts like nothing happened.
I objectively understand the story choice but yeah, no.
this movie was so bad, soooooooooooooooooooooooo bad, oh god, why did amy even do this
Bata
This movie is awful
