It's because every journalist that interviews paul only want to question him about the beatles for the 7th million time so it can be a little bit boring when theyre asking the same questions and there for wings tends to get overlooked it would be interesting to hear him talk about denny laine and their relationship today or his view on joe english and jimmy mcculloch
This song gets stuck in my head constantly. I originally didn't think it was Paul singing 'cause he's doing a raspy US southern accent (like Honkytonk Women Mick Jagger thing haha) and love that Paul did it all. I really feel he did more with Wings than the Beatles when it comes to creative music composition.
@@NoirFan01 I am so with you on that. I love The Beatles and Paul's stuff in that band but I've heard those songs a billion times and it seemed with the Beatles he was stuck in somewhat of a formulaic routine where with Wings he got to experiement to his heart's galore. I LOVE his Wings stuff and find the music from that decade so interesting. I got to see Paul in 2010 live and it seemed he was finally ready to bring out some classic Wings tunes he never played before. I lost it when he opened the show with the medley of Venus and Mars/Rockshow into Jet! Just like my favorite concert in 76. He also performed this song(1985) and Ms Vandebilt. What a great time that show was!!
The best kind of song: There is no other like it. It blends Pop, N'awlins Ragatime, a hint of Modulation, scat, grunts, the song transcends late with big pro swirling production, tasty guitar solo all over the coda, all stated at the outset by a unique riff of double stops on the piano over the rolling bass, and ends on the tonic- of another song. (Ok Ragatime was a stretch, - but only by one added "A" , that's all) One of many truly magnificent jewels to one of the best albums.
He plays incredibly the piano while he sings a different melody with the lyrics in a fantastic way. This is one of his songs I have always loved and seemed sort of a prophesy to me when in 1985 a very dangerous earthquake almost destroyed my home in México City september 19th.
Greyhoundduo If you listen to him singing "Baby face" from the same time frame he's using that same voice. It's always amazed me how much he can change his voice.
This really shows the talent level of a tremendous rock n roll artist. His piano playing and signing ability are in classic form. I agree with you on how much I appreciate his Wings years. Loved his 70s music more and his creativity was incredible.
Are you telling me that... all of THAT... was only a rehearsal???? C'mon, that guy have 110% for just a rehearsal, so imagine the final version. That's McCartney for you, guys. He's just... amazing.
he screams as he is having the grandest amount of emotions and feelings at the same time, as if he knew every sentiment the human being is capable of feeling, how he shouts and shakes his head. He truly is the only man in the world
Absolutely. Willy had far more musical training than Paul - his Father having been a bandleader. He could score film, read music, play multiple instruments. Paul was self taught. Limited to bass, guitar, and could peck on the piano a bit. But the original Paul was a great live performer and a great songwriter. Willy used a lot of Paul's old unreleased material when he initially assumed the role.
i was lucky enough to dj in a dodgy nightclub (great fun) 60s, 70s, 80s... got to play this.. wicked, rocking out on the dance floor.. this and jet and botr.. ..so lucky 🙂
this song has a special energy and feeling for me, it always takes me into a movie i made up in my head. It’s too good to be real and related to reality, just as he is
Something that always seems to be overlooked in comments because it's a small snippet but it adds to that je ne sais quoi element to this brilliant song is the clarinet solo starting at 4:02 . . . who the hell adds a clarinet to a pop/rock song? I picked it out the first time heard it (okay, I play sax and grew up listening to my dad's Benny Goodman's albums) and I never grow tired of listening to how the song continuously builds and then crescendos at the end. Such classic McCartney.
I've watched this many times (because I love it), but it wasn't until now that I really thought about how weird it is to see him singing without a guitar/bass in his hand, or a piano in front of him. Strange to watch him holding a mic. I always wondered what seemed odd to me about this clip. Now I know. :)
@Joy Stinson yeah i know. i'm a lefty too, i also play rythm guitar and little piano but my left hand is far behind him :) Even if i don't think he the most technical piano player ever, You can notice how much his sense of creativity and rythm is amazing, espcially in this song. One of my favorite artists and songs !
Incredibly rare talent combination - this man is both awesome singer and a competent producer, and don't forget multi-instrumentalism on top of it. AND THIS IS BEFORE WE TAKE MACCA"S SUPERB COMPOSITION SKILLZ INTO ACCOUNT! Paul to pop music was like Edison or Newton to science - a polymath. And we perfectly know that it's impossible to be a polymath once the science has progressed enough, because, like, you need to learn longer and longer before you're relevant. So I doubt there will be another mesmerizing singer-producer-composer anytime soon... so long live to McCartney's legacy! I pressed myself hard to remember other pop music polymaths from the ages gone. Jimi immediately comes to mind, then John Fogerty, then that Eno guy. Fast forward to our era: BT, Crystal Castles, Disclosure, Porter Robinson, Darkside... You CAN still find that one perfect artist in the crazy modern times!
There was an amazing version that showed the recording of this song with a ton of other musicians-Clapton,Bonham,Ringo, you name it -they took it down!
Loved this song so much - my dog, though hated it...he would cry whenever I played it :(.... Band on the Run was one of my fav albums of my teen years. Thanks Macca and Wings!
And... in the 80s, I discovered The Cure - best band ever...celebrating their 40th anniversary this year in Hyde Park,London..... The Beatles and Wings/Macca were great, but The Cure is the best of all!!!! The GREATEST song of all time... th-cam.com/video/yMax2QuVbC0/w-d-xo.html (I was there in the front row - fantastic!!!!)
Lyrics : Oh, no one ever left alive In nineteen hundred and eighty-five, will ever do She may be right, she may be fine She may get love, but she won't get mine, 'cause I got you Oh, I- Oh, I- Well, I just can't get enough of that sweet stuff My little lady gets behind Shake it Baby, don't break it Oh, my mama said the time would come When I would find myself in love with you I didn't think, I never dreamed That I would be around to see it all come true Oh, I- Oh, I- Well, I just can't get enough of that sweet stuff My little lady gets behind, yeah Oh, no one ever left alive In nineteen hundred and eighty-five, will ever do Well, she may be right, she may be fine She may get love, but she won't get mine, 'cause I got you Oh, I- Oh, I- Well, I just can't get enough of that sweet stuff My little lady left behind Band on the run Band on the run Band on the run
That's a good way to look at it when we're always weighing out life's uncertainties and we have a heavy weight to carry and only so much time to figure out how to balance out the load.
Macca "sells" a song on piano far better than he does on guitar. Meaning he really breathes life into the song. Propels it. Drives it. All while singing. It's not easily down. He accomplishes something else that's not easily down. When he slips slightly on the piano groove while singing, as he does a few times here, he stretches the time to find his way home.
he even *shouts* in tune.
duncan rmi
Oh yeah! Just listen to Oh Darling or Monkberry Moon Delight. Nobody but NOBODY could scream like that
Listen to one of the takes of Her Majesty, he even clears his throat in time with the music. Music god this one.
It's called singing.
No one screams like our Macca.
Wings was one of the most successful and just _best_ bands of all time, and people just always seem to forget that and overlook them.
He plays piano incredibly well
Like Mozart and Beethoven in their time....Sir Paul was a gift. Staggering talent.
StratsRgreat I'm just thankful to have seen him twice (so far) in my lifetime. Legend.
Thank God for Paul. (I do)
JPM was also a big talent.
He still is a gift
Ölsk Zeri silly silly. Paul is alive and well 😎
This song is a masterpiece. That's it
This song gets stuck in my head constantly. I originally didn't think it was Paul singing 'cause he's doing a raspy US southern accent (like Honkytonk Women Mick Jagger thing haha) and love that Paul did it all. I really feel he did more with Wings than the Beatles when it comes to creative music composition.
IKR. When I go to a Paul McCartney concert I would rather hear his wings and solo music than the Beatles song book
@@NoirFan01 I am so with you on that. This is one of Paul's body doubles that also sings She's A Woman, the cover for Kansas City, I'm Down, Drive My Car, Baby Face etc
Helter-skelter was way more creative than wings period
This is one badass mother of this century...puts me at a loss for words...indescribable
If I had to explain why Paul is my favorite of all time- I’d start here!
Awsome Paul

He always makes it seems so effortless. Love him. Long live Macca!
¡Simplemente es el puto amo!
I love the piano 🎹 in this song. It’s unmistakable. You don’t even have to hear Sir Paul McCartney sing. You just know what song it is.
Definitely! ❤️
love the piano on this too 🙂
brilliant song and even cool in a rehearsal like this
You're watching one of the greatest natural singers/songwriters/musicians of all time.
I love the grittiness of Paul's voice in this song! Shake it don't break it!
Greyhoundduo If you listen to him singing "Baby face" from the same time frame he's using that same voice. It's always amazed me how much he can change his voice.
i love the piano
the bas,
and the rhythm
oh yeah and his vocal lol 🙂 😉 x

I haven't heard a false note. Truly professional singer
+Bonjorno Duo
So true!!
Buongiorno :)
all the while puffing a cigarette. That's why he is SIr Macca!
really a cigarette ?
Doobie?

The Man with golden voice! Sir Paul Mccartney rules!
Amazing track
Such a great little song, shows the talent of Paul.
Practice? We're talking about practice.
He is incredible.
He is definitely a light from God.
He's the best ever.....
Really rips it to shreds at the end
Another fantastic song by Paul McCartney and Wings !!! 🙂❤🧡💛💚💙💜🐕🐈🐎🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷
Amazing 💜💜
Tiene un registro de voz que puede cantar cualquier cosa, sin duda, uno de los genios de Liverpool...
I love this song!!!
this song has a special energy and feeling for me, it always takes me into a movie i made up in my head. It’s too good to be real and related to reality, just as he is
Wow the last two minutes -- get down, Paul!

Matthew Howell Equally, I thought it was strange that he was just a bass player.
Watch coming up by him
Matthew Howell omg same it’s so weird
He makes up for it by smoking 🚬 with the other hand lol!
He totally works it with the mic cable and everything. Not a damn thing this guy cant get away with. :)
I had forgotten how much I loved this tune!
By FAR, his best song ever
Ok, my favourite
Definitely up there, and I'll agree at least it's the best song on the album, which in itself is saying a lot, because it's a fantastic album!
Wow, this was something! Amazing song and Paul!
Un don, un talent absolument insolent !!!! :)
По моему бог создал эту группу.. иближайшие100летнебудет таких музыкантов .Люди .как можно не любить этот шедевр
My all time favorite track off that album!
One of Paul's most sublime and majestic songs. Looks like the vocal there was recorded in studio one, which is normally for orchestral recording.
Should have played it in the 75/76 rockshow tours
GENIUS
Amazing! This track burns an image in my soul forever! So cool to see how he recorded it!
Great version of this!
love Paul's music
Genial, McCartney, cómo vive el tema. Gracias!
This may be my second favorite song in the history of music, after Maybe I'm Amazed.
Paul tearing that piano up
Это шикарно! Обожаю!
The Bestest EVER!!!!
Beware, genius at work!
amazing rythm, the left hand is fantastic !
@Joy Stinson yeah i know. i'm a lefty too, i also play rythm guitar and little piano but my left hand is far behind him :) Even if i don't think he the most technical piano player ever, You can notice how much his sense of creativity and rythm is amazing, espcially in this song. Paul is Genius!!!!
I love you Paul

Excelente interpretación..... Maestro Mccartney
How the heck does he play and sing such syncopated rhythms at the same time?
Une légende ce paul !
And he's smoking in between... effortless!
don't think he inhales.. 🙂 😉 x
Una de mis rolas preferidas del genio McCartney, ¡magnífica interpretación!
If you haven't heard him on the Decca records auditions from 1962 you simply MUST. it is required Macca listening.
My daily affirmation
That smirk at 3:38 is priceless.
My favorite Paul’s tune // Mi tema favorito de Paul

Lyrics :
Oh, no one ever left alive
In nineteen hundred and eighty-five, will ever do
She may be right, she may be fine
She may get love, but she won't get mine, 'cause I got you
Oh, I-
Oh, I-
Well, I just can't get enough of that sweet stuff
My little lady gets behind
Shake it
Baby, don't break it
Oh, my mama said the time would come
When I would find myself in love with you
I didn't think, I never dreamed
That I would be around to see it all come true
Oh, I-
Oh, I-
Well, I just can't get enough of that sweet stuff
My little lady gets behind, yeah
Oh, no one ever left alive
In nineteen hundred and eighty-five, will ever do
Well, she may be right, she may be fine
She may get love, but she won't get mine, 'cause I got you
Oh, I-
Oh, I-
Well, I just can't get enough of that sweet stuff
My little lady left behind
Band on the run
Band on the run
Band on the run
He’s made in the UK say no more !
if sex was a song.......this is it
tricia2 Wonder if he makes those sounds during sex! LOL
Living a star, it's truly too much to live up to, always has, always will be
Best album....band on the run ...ever!!!!!!!
Luv Macca!
My love
That's a good way to look at it when we're always weighing out life's uncertainties and we have a heavy weight to carry and only so much time to figure out how to balance out the load.
Just one word: WOW!
Always dug this song!
Is that last bit with the mic an Elvis impersonation? I don't know but this is freeking awesome.
When he recorded this Lennon was still alive. No one ever left alive in 1985.
Beautiful macca
Its labeled as a rehearsal but its actually documenting recording sessions from Band on the Run.
no it's not. This was filmed the year after Band on the Run
This song was right up there with Bohemian Rhapsody, for me.
increíble
wouldn't mind seeing the others too..
the solo!
