    Balance, knocked it out the park with this boat class (size). This boat is better than HH in my opinion. I like the fact very little if any stainless steel is on the boat. Which means less ware on parts of the boat. Also means less maintenance and more time enjoying your boat. I love the EASY access to everything when maintenance is required. Balance, continues to revolutionize the performance/cruising industry with special features geared around easy access and less maintenance. Also for better/easier sailing. A performance cruiser is the way to go for sure. Especially on those lite wind days when many cruisers would be motoring; the Balance performance boat could still be sailing. I could go on and on about how much better a performance cruiser is compared to a heavy cruiser. BOTTOM LINE: You can't go wrong with a performance cruiser and the team at Balance KNOW the best way to design, engineer and build the best boat for off the grid living. Stay Awesome, Balance! David

    Hello Phil...I enjoyed meeting you at the boat show and personally touring your creation. It was very apparent how much thought was devoted to special systems, convenience touches and finishes.

    Thanks Phil and team. The 442 looks great. Build quality looks great. To combine all that with great performance is really excellent.
    Design is very nice, but the interior definitely looks a bit smaller and busier than the same features on the larger boats. Somehow it feels like the physical features don't scale down as well.
    Some people probably find the design too spartan. I find it extremely tasteful in a sporty way. The efficient and taut design language seems to come from a modern, practical and clean philosophy.
    Minor audio production notes: please use a lapel microphone with a wind blocker for better sound, and the voice levels are too low relative to music. Those factors make voice harder to hear and understand. I've mentioned this before. Please improve.

    Now one of my favorite Cats, it's up there. When I buy it from you, we will need to get all hatches flush with the floor and all corners and edges of the cat rounded, those would be deal breakers if not posible. Cograts, great level of design.

    The first 442 walkthrough was a real let down (the video that is, not the boat) this finally does it justice.
    Incredible boat, the versa helm with the frameless windows looks amazing.

  • @horitulgi
    @horitulgi ปีที่แล้ว

    Totally excellent boat! Love the look of the versahelm, but 1 quick question - if its pouring with rain, & you need to tack/gybe, change sails/reef etc how do you use the winches without getting the cockpit soaking?

    • @balancecatamarans
      @balancecatamarans  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. In previous models we positioned the master winches on some boats below the cockpit roof, on a plinth, so you could reef under the closed top. But to do that we also had to have a sliding floor and needed to carry larger winches due to increased friction of two additional turns.. Based on customer comments we learned that most of them still did the reefing and sail management with the sliding top open, so we elected to move the winches up. You go up, do the reef, drop the wheel back down, slide the top closed and you are done. Then you pilot from down below.
      Stay in balance,
      Phil

    Hi Phil
    What is the actual sit upright hight in the berths? Does look like one can only lay down but not lean up against were pillows are. Could a 5ft.9- 6ft person sit upright ? Thanks

    • @balancecatamarans
      @balancecatamarans  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The exact headroom behind the bed varies depending on the mattress size chosen, but the boat is designed for any person 6 foot 10 inches tall to easily sit up in bed to read. I myself am 6 foot 1 inch tall and have plenty of extra headroom over myself when reading at night.

      @Balance Catamarans HI Phil
      What is the actual height from the top of a thin mattress to underside of ceiling on a 482 or 526? In my experience a 5 or so inch thick mattress is plenty thick.
      It sure looks as if a 6ft. Person can lean against the backrest using a pillow. Question though was can I sit on my butt upright as I would in a chair? What is hight? Inches or cm please.
      What would it cost about to replace an old standing rigging incl. Turnbuckles and all toggles and instrumentation to perhaps all B&G on a say 482 or 526? And what else could I expect to needing to replace or upgrade on a balance 526 after 8-10 years? How much is a complete replacement of sails as it comes from your factory new. Price for all sails?
      Phil, we in the sailing community are very greatfull for your time, effort and extensive knowledge to produce such outstanding sailboats.
      Beeing German I can appreciate good quality and craftsmanship as you and your team demonstrate well.
      Thanks

    Are the counters really short, or is Phil really tall?

    • @balancecatamarans
      @balancecatamarans  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Counter height is 91cm or 35.8 inches but as all of our furniture is hand made in house it is possible for us to customize this height.

    • @adamroach3407
      @adamroach3407 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not have flush hatches?

    • @balancecatamarans
      @balancecatamarans  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Flush hatches require additional tooling on the deck for specific hatches and in specific location. Due to the nature of our customer base, we can accomodate different size hatches or even quantity and location which does not require this tooling. In our experience flush hatches and assocaited drainage oftn clog and frequently leak.

    It looks crampy, narrow, stuffy and low compared to other 44s I've been looking into. I've never seen a BBQ standing this low. The doorways and headroom in many sections make Phil Berman look like he is a giant in a hobbit boat...It feels like someone tried to stuff and fit the interior of 52" into a 44' mold without scaling. I am curious about the visibility of the starboard hull when the versatile helm is down while docking in bad weather... The drawings and digital rendering looked much spacier. It's a disappointment for me.

      Totally understand your comments, I guess every boat is a compromise. From my research it seems the 442 is superb for its; price, size, quality and performance. This Cat is one that I’d be supremely happy to compromise on 😂😂😂 but totally respect it’s not one for you.

      Agree the packaging doesn't seem to work as well as on the larger models, but would need to see it in person to judge better. I still think these are all excellent boats.
      Regarding height, many buyers are taller than Phil and appreciate the high headroom in these boats.

      I sas the 526 giant in some videos and this one more sized for 2/4 people. And guess you dock with the helm up, rain is not an issue for a sailor.

      If you view one in person, you’ll change your mind! Although I’m not a fan of the electric bbq, or way it set up! Remember, there’s always camera lens distortion. However, if you want to find fault, you will! I hope you’re doing ok!
