    Love this, real time skill and knowledge. Let's see a series rebuild with the same format. Thank you

    Greetings from Colorado. My 73 Series III 88 got the bad death weave, but your video inspired me to the chllenge. Fascinating to watch. You're a heck of a mechanic and artist.

    This Land Rover interests me even though i'm a Mini guy. I've wanted to do a series 1 resto for ages but the MIni comes first. I know where there is a early series 1 just sat in some ones front garden. I asked if he wanted to sell but the old guy whats to restore it but we all know that will never happen, we all dream don't we lol. I just hope his Mrs wants rid after he leaves us!

      How lovely would it be to be able to retrieve it and make a restart on restoring it 👍👍

    Great explanation and thank you for the clarity. My series 2 failed its MOT on the railko bush so it’s a job now to be done. Nice work indeed and all the best!

    Great video. Delighted to see you working on land rovers. My first car was a 200tdi defender 90 pickup. Still have it. It’s sitting in the shed now in a sorry state but hoping to bring it back to life in the autumn. I think the only thing that doesn’t need work is the engine but everything around that will need a lot of work. Thanks again Paul.

    It's good to see someone working on a car outside using basic tools. I doubt you will be able to do that with a current Defender.

    Nice one Paul swivel hubs not for the faint hearted we used to make box spanner’s from pieces of tube a little smaller than the nut or bolt heat the end then forge it over the nut/bolt instant box spanner a bit Heath Robinson but it usually worked ,parts supply still seems up in the air suppliers don’t keep stock like they use to because it dead stock on the shelf and expensive,you need one of those portable garages from MM to keep that Irish wet off you (the wet helps make that lovely butter 🐄 ) stay safe and dry top lad 👍👨🏻‍🏭🇬🇧

    Top notch as per usual lads. Can't wait to see Andy Mc Landy on the road and blending into the rest of the garage family proving to be a riliable work horse. Waiting for parts is all ways a pain and brexit/customs certainly doesn't help. Role on the next video 👍

    Another great example of history in the breaking! I was about to serve my time (not in prison) when this hit the road and it will probably out last me. The good news is there are still plenty of spares available and generally at affordable prices. There is also massive technical information to be had and it is important to utilize this. Many problems arose from people not knowing the nuances and particularly from over tightening. You often need to determine a rolling torque. I have to say I suggested painting it fire red and calling it red rover but no one was biting. It compliments the mini videos, so best wishes and I hope it doesn’t rain. Thoroughly enjoyable as usual.

      @HREIRL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Thomas and finally geting a chance to put that tool box to good use. as you say these are beautifully simple but that simpleness is not to be mistaken for poor engineering. Yes thankfully parts are as available for these and the humble mini

    The rub marks on your shaft is caused by the slop in the swivel housing and its rubbing on the inside of the stub axle/spindle. I have the same issue with the swivel hub moving so much that it started to bind the half shaft against the stub axle/spindle and it heated up so much that it welded it to the inside of the stub axle/spindle and broke off. I still haven't figured out the reason for this movement since the alignment of the swivel housing relative to the axle shaft is fixed...not adjustable. The shims in the top swivel housing pin only set the amount of force required to move the swivel housing from right to left.
    Great video and was great for me to see another series III swivel housing video to help me continue my effort to understand why my swivel housing is not aligned properly with the half shaft coming out after being bolted in and seated in the lower swivel bearing.
