I really like these more appropriate tests for each car. Those overhangs are challenging with the Pallisade. Good stuff Ryan.
I love the new test track that you have and are making it better better just like the one over the mountains you have
I enjoyed watching this test and look forward to seeing more from the new test track!
I look forward to you finishing the new course and all future testing on both the old and new.
You told the true "lock button". People thinks that they have proper locker but this is just multiplate clutch lock. Great review as always. Merry Christmas. Greetings
Really enjoying your videos, all the time you put in the details is amazing!Would be nice if you could put your hands on an Acura RDX…
I gotta admit...I love the "can you sleep in it" part!
I think it did great, more than anyone ever will do with it. Considering this was the first vehicle in the course I think it did great
Great machine, specially under the hood and its infotainment.
I´ve admired the tires work, because without them nothing happen.
Nice, roomy and very good IMO. The Grand Highlander is nice also for sure but it is quite a bit more money.
This XRT trim on the Palisade and Tucson are for looks only. If you want a more capable Palisade and Tucson for moderate off-roading, I suggest you wait for the next-generation models which will be similar to the Santa Fe. Also, Hyundai need to do a XRT trim for the Venue and Kona.
And at the end of the day it’s still another crappy Hyundai.
I suggest you don’t wait and just go with a more reliable and well-known brand for off-roading.
@@bidenwearsdiapers4026 In 2023, Hyundai finished 11th position out of 30 among all the brands so not so crappy after all.
@@j.coursol5249 👈🏼🤣 11th out 20th in what? And which model? And according to who? Tell me. Oh & liking your own comments on social medial = laughable desperation.
@@bidenwearsdiapers4026Hey grand pa you need new glasses, I said 11th out of 30 not 20 and this is according to the latest survey conducted by Consumer Reports based on CR member surveys dated 29 Nov 2023. I bet you never owned a Hyundai before so you don't know what you are talking about. And no I did not click on "Like" my comments. GROW UP BUDDY.
I drove one of these for a week and man , they are waayyy nicer than people think . Super smooth , solid , and the engine is perfectly tuned . They aren’t slow at all . 😊
Roller testing would show the intended AWD capability, but of course still dependent on clutch strength, it seems some vehicles get really good on rollers then overheat in heavy testing anyways, but it tells us it will do it's wonders on wet and snow just not for rough climbs were something like A-Trac with better clutches would do better
Pretty sure A-TRAC just aggressively clamps down on the spinning wheels which is why it does so much better (not overheating) vs clutch based AWD.
Also helps A-TRAC vehicles are all either 4WD with a always on centre diff lock or mechanical locking centre diff.
@@elkofcanada5003 i see what you mean...braking wheels have nothing to do with any clutches, what overheats is clutch in center because it's not true locker like sr5 4 runner has
The body and greenhouse looks like a Chevy Traverse.
If you could reply with your experience I am very curious for your personal opinion, two very different cars but considering the palisade vs the toyota crown curious which drive experience you prefer. Both videos were great
Its getting a bit annoying with all these badge only trims that try to give the impression of some sort of sporty or offroad capabilty only to be black badges and grill. Whooptee doo. Lol
Seems the Honda Pilot is the only "reliable but sorta bland crossover from Asia" that has a badge and actual off road changes. Nissan, Hyundai, Toyota, and Kia are fakin it. Even US brands dont have much except like the Z74 on Tahoes.
Otherwise: solid crossover! Always liked the look of these and they have some pretty good details and features. If I needed a 3 row family SUV I'd look at this as a major contender for sure.
Don’t forget about Subaru. Their wilderness package does actually mean something, even if their cars are already a step above the rest for light off roading
Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk brings it for the most part, Locker, disconnectable sway etc...just no third row. But nobody whose buying these cars are actually using something like a locker.
Can you rock these new "push-button" automatic transmissions when stuck in mud or snow? An old fashioned gear shifter seems like a better solution (ie. No searching for the reverse/drive buttons, etc.).
The 50 series rubber is the tell.
It’s a nice looking vehicle for sure, but for the price and utility I’d had to go with the Subaru Ascent. Great video and presentation as usual! I have to say that I really enjoyed the roughed in section because it’s realistic to what many owners will experience…no private courses, etc (nothing wrong with that!) but uncut trails with a lot of vegetation and other ‘raw’ types of trails
It has a front camera which you can turn on when you want it. Not just a backup camera. At least my model does.
True for upper trims. Ours didn’t have it.
Does this Palisade or the Grand Highlander have a softer ride, particularly on rougher surfaces?
I just bought one and it rides super smooth on rough highway.
It would be awesome if manufacturers can make a combined clutch and mechanical locking system. So Full auto AWD is clutch based on/off,. At the moment one selects 4H 4L, or manually engages a locker (center, rear, front), it's switches from the clutch pack to fully mechanically locked.
Like a Porsche Cayenne, back when it had a transfer case to get into low range and locking differentials?
Sport mode then downshift then gas. It still might not be that fast, but that’ll be your fastest “launch”
At the very minimum, it should have a one inch lift, proper tires and slightly better tuned transmission
Could never talk myself into buying a Hyundai/Kia. I’ve know two people who owned them. Both had to have engines replaced before hitting the 4 year mark. Not a bad looking rig though.
The only advantage Hyundai has over the competition is price.
Lol not just price. High end interior materials, great space, more technology and the best warranty! I am a professional manufacturing engineer and a vehicle enthusiast. I chose the 24 palisade calligraphy over the competition, and when i say competition, I reviewed all of them before making the decision. Palisade is also made in Korea, to me it should be more reliable than the ones made in US and trust me, i know!
How is a 3.8L V6 “on the smaller side for a V6” when the rest of the class has 3.6L or smaller displacements?
Thinking of the 4Runner's 4.0 V6.
@@drivingsports fair enough but the Hyundai/Kia twins still have the 2nd largest in the class, not on the smaller end.
While watching the first description of this and seeing an SUV with the street tires on it... I was thinking wouldn't it be good if they took this chassis system ground clearance and put a minivan body and interior on it. Might be more satisfying of a vehicle that way. But as either style it still needs a more "off-roady" setting on the all-wheel drive system. And Really, performance street tires on a "SUV". 🙄
Nothing like a Subaru 👌
Ryan, would you get this over the Subaru Ascent?
12in min on ground clearance for a 3 (they are so long.)row suv.
they could have went another 4in.
just need room for 4 more inches of tire room ( for taller sidewalls), and bam 12in ground clearance .
lol.s.
I've commented on this action here before.. no one offroads in smart mode... no one.
I’ll cx90 any day

Explorer timberline deserves another chance to redeem itself. Off road tires, 8.7" ground clearance, rear limited slip, skid plates, and off road modes. The last test was garbage, not soley due to the car.
Whole video looking at his stomach instead of the car.
Let me do that trail in my Subaru Outback Wilderness! Please!
Too easy for Wilderness.
Yes I know!@@drivingsports
You could do that trail in a Honda Civic
Seems to me like the Palisade is mostly made to get people home in bad weather and an occasional rough road. Personally, I'm okay with that if that's all its supposed to be. I work nights and I'm rather Partial to the idea of getting home after work. Grocery getter? Well I do like to eat no matter the weather. As long as we know what is and isn't an offroader so we can decide,I'm okay with BOTH being available.@@drivingsports
I had previously believed all these videos on how nice Subaru's are and purchased Outback for myself. Never again! I traded in after one year and bought a Palisade, and I'm so much more satisfied.
A 2WD Sienna (with chains just in case) would be a much better alternative.
Trading my hyundai tucson for a honda pilot for more versatility. Had to take my hyundai in multiple times and won't be going back. The gimmick features won't get me this time.
Haha, 20” wheels on a rough-roader? Who are they kidding?
You need to tell us your height and get in the 3rd row if you're going to talk about it.
Back in the 80s we'd call a vehicle like this a "poser".….
MOST of these type of cars these days are nothing but poser mobiles.
That thing better run back to the mall quick. That was painful to watch rolling over pebbles and twigs.
Never buying another Kia / Hyundai….
Why?
Why ?!
You're not reviewing the models with some of the shit you are saying is missing....
That offroad test was very mid :/
Work in progress.
ダイナミックシールドをパクったな
まあそもそも今の現代を築いたのは三菱だからね、何かと三菱とはつながりがある....
Boring
Hyundai should just stick to building questionable engines and transmissions. Leave the real off-roading vehicles to Toyota, Subaru, and Jeep.
🙄
Gypsies days are total poser mobiles. Still unreliable high maintenance in Fiat buying them didn't help that 😅 plus sensor many of them now are two-wheel drive for the complete posers, you now have to pay insane amounts of money to get something called trailhawk just to have a "proper jeep"
Subaru with Toyota and jeep? LMAO... #StayOnFireRoadsPlease
@@bwmclaurin Oh yeah, and what do you take off fire roads?
That massive black grill is horrendous. Speaking of black, the black trim and wheels are so outdated.
The front grill is super nice looking better than any other crappy SUV.
@@j.coursol5249 oh I definitely agree when it comes to the satin chrome grill on the Calligraphy trim level. The black looks cheap and outdated.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 I agree, I own a 2023 Calligraphy with the Silver/Chrome front grill and it's beautiful.
Hyundai imitated Mitsubishi.
Not an off-road vehicle. Not marketed as one, has absolutely no place off-roading. So why test it off-road? Just because it is awd, does not mean it’s capable anywhere but on pavement. Why not compare it to similar vehicles on pavement where it belongs.
If it's advertised model designed to look like an SUV of any type then it should be able to be taken down a rough nasty dirt road. And if it is packages an SUV with all-wheel drive and cladding then yes it is marketed and they are trying to imply that it is an "off-road vehicle" and I would be extremely let down if it was not taken down roads rougher than this start of this test course under construction. It still needs to be taken down a rough nasty dirt road to test.
Did you think they are trying to package this and sell it as a basic minivan?
Because why the hell not?
@@RRr-yl8zrit’s an 8 seater SUV that has 20” wheels and 50 series tires. It is NOT an Off-road vehicle! Not designed to be, not marketed to be, not sold as one. Not ALL SUVs are built with off-road terrain in mind. Most that LOOK like they are, only have appearance packages, nothing special that adds to their off-road capability. It’s not a Ford Bronco or a Jeep Wrangler…it’s a family SUV that can handle most any place you need to take a family in a normal day. Sure, any vehicle can handle a few dirt roads, my Honda Civic can if I drive carefully, probably do just fine in most cases as well.
If you ever owned a true off-road vehicle you wouldn’t even ask the question. Drive a Jeep for a few years and then drive a Palisade. See how far you get..lol. I have and I’ve tested the 2023 Palisade off-road many times. It’ll get you where you need to go in most any conditions…it’s still a grocery getting, family SUV though.
No it's not. But it is marketed as one and this is the supposedly off-road package with extra cladding for when you're bashing through those bushes and rocks. Yes it is an SUV package it is an SUV body it says it's all wheel drive it tries to look tough it's a joke imposter and it is marketed as a SUV which means it should do good off-road or at least on a nasty. It is a joke and a Fraud
Hyundai/Kia are flashy with their design but them engine fire risks are out of pocket. I would not risk buying one and park it in my garage because of those spontaneous combustions even when the car is turned off. Not to mention the horrible customer service and warranty after it ends.
Does not apply to V6 cars.
Are you getting an electric or at least a hybrid vehicle confused with "regular car", like this one? 🤔
Could never trust the reliability of Hyundai or Kia, awful reputation.
And from experience their warranty only exist on paper, when something breaks in the powertrain good luck getting anything replaced.
They have been top 5 in JD powers for the past 5 years in a row
@@magniarotdepends on the make and model Hyundai has gotten a bit better on consumer reports.
Considering they ranked MINI, BMW, Buick in the top 10, what can I say? @@magniarot
almost buy the KIA stinger😥😥😥😥 almost
My Toyota highlander 2019 is better then this suv
Kia and Hyundai are cheap junk. $45k for this thing? I'd glady pay the extra $5k for the Toyota Sienna you mentioned in the video.
😂😂😂😂
so you bought More land somewhere else z' in addition too?"...
In addition too. We still have the Mountain course.
