Insta back. Thanks for your final thoughts. When I heard that The Mico did the art, I was already interested. Then I saw the look components. The quality with just the prototype components is off the charts. The different paths you can take. I was also worried that the tribe cards looked like they had the same iconography. Yet I can see them working out really well in other aspects of that all-important bonus action you wanted is taken.

I run really hot-hot at times and cold-cold at other times with Richard, which is par for the course, but he is dead on, and I'm very excited for this game. Thanks for covering this, sir. Some of my very favorite games on my shelf have come from your videos over the years.
Great vid, Rahdo - your enthusiasm shines through! Just wanted to say that Tyrants of the Underdark is another criminally under-rated combo worker-placement / deckbuilding game. Well overdue a new release... 👍
Endless Winter Sounds amazing. I would argue that Rurik is not a dudes on a map game. you can win and go the whole game without attacking human or being attacked by another human. You will attack the Rebels for sure, makes a lot of sense. Attacking other players is not super efficient. It's more efficient to just to try to recruit more or move more people in there to get the benefits of controlling territories. I would say though like 75% of the interaction is in the Auction.
You raised concerns that the workers might be repetitive. Luckily there will be double the numbers when you pledge with the expansion. And I bet there will be some new chiefs as more and more stretch goals unlock. :)
This really made me want to check this game out.
Is your review based on the Chief bundle? I am thinking about the Pathfinder bundle.
Whats that about puting labor chips on culture cards at the end of the round (0:31)? Is that a prototype thing? I'm not sure if that rule exists in the retail version of the game.
I like how you said "If there is expansions...". Come on, you know this is a kickstarter game right? It will have/has 3 or 4 expansions out of the gate! :)
Yep, there are some really unique ideas being implemented... check out the Kickstarter expansions :)
If the publisher gave a final manufactured copy for your collection, after Kickstarter, what # would you place it at with your personal rankings?
probably mid 8's considering that there's more variety in the workers than what i had in the prototype :)

Funnily enough IMO the whole "supplement WP actions with cards via deckbuilding" reminded me of the latest CGE game "Lost Ruin of Arnak", so assuming you've tried that one before, I was wondering how does this compare to it? 🙂
it only arrived a few days ago, so i haven't had a chance to play arnak yet. but looking forward to it! :)

How about the downtime factor in more then 2 players game..?
havent' played with more than 2, but i don't think it would be any worse than any other midweight euro game
Every previewer I have seen has said the same thing, that this game is great. Backing based on that.
they have been paid to say the same thing. it's called influencer advertising.
i'm not saying the game is not good, but one should not blindly trust what reviewers are saying.

So it is a paid for advert rather than a review ?
I guess the review has to be positiv or at least not negativ, when they get paid for it.
But I think you can guess the value of the game by comparing the amount of positive points and side information.
But this means, that you have to know the reviewer a bit.
And that being said, I would guess that Rahdo really meant the positiv conclusion.
I would go by the playthrough and not necessarily what the previewer has to say. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t think Richard would lie about liking a game, but he even states with his paid previews and that you can take it for what it’s worth.
I really like games like terraforming mars, imperial settlers, everdell, wingspan. Do you think this is something for me? It looks very promising 😍
based on those games you like, i'd say this is a no brainer! :)
I think the "tool to kill someone" makes sense as "a tool to bury someone".
Aka: thematically the tribe member has died, and you need a tool (spade) to give them an honourable send off.
yeah actually paleo cultures even sacrificed tools and jewelery by burying it with the dead...

Rurik is amazing. You might like it. Fighting is simplified. You decide you need a territory, you get it but you draw a card and might suffer a casualty yourself. There is even a way to have an idea what will be on the card you pull. It isn't that brutal. And he does a great job adjusting for 2p, which I know is big for you that a designer adjusts for that. It is definitely worth a try for you.
Definitely enjoyed Endless Winter as well. Jonny Pac's involvement as a Dev really shines through on it.

depends on what you're looking for. arnak is faster and more "adventurey" while this is heavier and more "management" focused :) both great games though
People keep comparing it to Arnak, do you have a preference for one of the 2?

CLubbing villagers? How about Norse / Vikings like in Blood Rage? Killing them off (in battle mind you) gets you points there too. So, not unheard of. Then again I look at it as buried means family tomb instead of a pile of dirt, ie. honoring the dead.
How much engine and combos building satisfaction do you get from this one? I love abilities which gives more engine - not VP - but having a hard time finding them 😅 I don’t want an VP engine, I want an engine like RftG, Everdell, Mottainai, TEG, Res Arcana, Oceans etc but having a hard time finding them 😅

Depends when you want the game. Dune is a retail release, and Endless Winter is a Kickstarter not being delivered until December 2021.
I'm not sure Dune is shipping to France (from Direwolf) anyway so it's a long wait for both. Which one of the 2 has less deck building ?
I want to love this game, but the way the KS is being handled is just dreadful.
Why on earth pretend there are FIVE expansions/modules for a game that isn't even released. It's actually Day 1 DLC, some of which is a small stack of cards with artificial MSRP next to them. Maybe if this were a company I knew, but this is a first-time game for these guys, and I just can't trust them. I hope I'm wrong and see it on the shelves in a year.
Hi JDH all the details for the expansions will be revealed on the following days through constant updates. We might be a new publishing company but the minds behind Endless Winter are all experienced people of the tabletop industry. We totally respect your concerns though and we will do our best to exceed ourselves.
It's a "New" company, but there are tons of veterans on the team, including Paul Grogan on rules, and Johnny Pac developing :) + The Mico.... he's done some art before I think?

Several of those modules / promos are being included for free if you back the game. None of it is DLC- this isn't a video game (so it's not digital) and it's not post-release errata or add-on content (which is what DLC has become - ways to fix a rushed, incomplete and in some cases broken game and milk more money out of the player-base).
Personally I'd rather see a core game that is easier to teach or play with a more novice group then add in a module if desired vs every single idea the devs currently have thrown into 1 box with convoluted rules
@JDH Regarding your comment about artificial MSRP... it does annoy me when KS Exclusive games have add-ons with MSRP because that term and the prices are irrelevant if the product never ends up on retailers' shelves. This is not a KS Exclusive though. So the MSRP is the price they're suggesting any retailer sets for the products. There's nothing artificial about the MSRPs in this case. Back and get it for free or at a reduced price with your pledge, or pay MSRP at a retailer later
All you really needed to say was, "Scythe had a baby with Catan, who had a baby with Dominion and Everdell's baby. That's how Endless Winter: Paleoamericans was born." Would have been the quickest Final Thoughts ever
