LOVE the title Janet!! If only all pandemics could be this awesome! Ironically, your little “windows” represent to me, the windows to our souls that have been revealed during this pandemic! You are not only an excellent teacher and artist, but a prophet too!!🥰🙏🏻🥰. Thanks for all you do Janet!!
That was a great tutorial - good to see the layered effects. You're easy to listen to, and you're concise about the process. That is a relief compared to what some others are doing! (Sometimes too much speculation by others) So thanks - excellent job. I'll be sure to subscribe and hit the thumbs up for you. It is beautiful!
Wow, I found you at the right time! I’m tip toeing into using mica in resin and your tutorial was fantastic with such great explanations and your thought process. Never knew about torch and heat gun providing different purposes! Excellent and thank you! New sub…
This is beautiful!! I tried this but could not get any cells in first layer itself so did not do second layer..I added 2-3 drops of alchohol in each colour..can u help me with this? How can i get cells in this?
Many conditions come into the creation of cells in resin. The best way I have found is through using a quality resin pigment paste of white. In this artwork I used a brand that is no longer available. I can however recommend The Epoxy Resin Store pigment pastes- FlowArt Resin liquid pigments- www.theepoxyresinstore.com/collections/pigments/products/white-opaque-liquid-pigment?aff=16 Save 20% on orders with discount code - Janet20 Their white pigment is terrific and I use it all the time 😁
Hi. I am considering using the layering technique for a translucent epoxy pour (to make a table) where I have 2+ pours of different colors (after each previous pour cures). I am wondering if layering as such adds new effects like depth? Will the depth only show up if the colors are different enough? What do you think will happen if I have the first pour as translucent black and then a translucent brown over that? thanks
I like the concept Michael. The transparent layers of different colors would build on each other creating a "new" color in the end. If I understand your description correctly, think of it like placing a transparent red over top of blue and you get purple. If you have a first layer of black that will make let's say a red layer become a dark red. Your project sounds interesting to try. I would recommend doing some small scale tests to see if you are liking your result. Enjoy your process!👍🏻
Thanks 😁 You can do a clear coat of resin to hide pits. Just lightly sand your entire surface and carefully clean after sanding to remove all dust with isopropyl alcohol.
You can although I usually spray paint with primer/sealer paint. Canvas can stretch under the weight of resin so I support underneath. Check out this video - th-cam.com/video/P_OVbEsbWn4/w-d-xo.html
Hi this is amazing! I am looking to do 2 layer on a canvas but everywhere I look people are saying to sand down between layers which I’m trying to avoid, do you think not sanding makes a difference to the layers?
Thanks Elisha. If I am working layers I try to do it the next day. There have been times that life just gets in the way and I have done it 2 days later. It is a standard to not go more than 48 hours and if you cannot and sanding is recommended to ensure your next layer bonds well to the last.
I’m confused when you say canvas are you pouring on a flat surface? Idk much about this just beginning so idk how it works but I see a lot of people using molds with edges
Hello , this is beautiful , can you tell a newbie when is pigment added? . I have read my beginners Manuel I understand to mix 1 to 1 ratio of resin and resin hardener , but there was no mention as to when to add the color . Also can you pour over round objects with resin ? thank you so much I am subscribing.
Hi Billy and thank you for subscribing. Once your quantity of resin is prepared you can start putting it into smaller cups and begin adding your color to the separate cups. Never add more than 10% pigment to the volume of resin I each cup. You can pour on round objects but keep in mind that resin is self leveling and will run thin on vertical areas and leave drips on bottom as it cures. Remember, we all begin exploring resin somewhere and learning along the way can make for the best teacher. Enjoy!
Hi Janet, hope all is well with you. I have a problem, and who better to ask, than you. I finished a geode, but there is 1 Hair in it!!!. Is there a way to sand it out, and make it shinny again. Without adding another layer of Resin..Thank you so much... I'm going to post it on Instagram, It's under. Miasmodernart See you there.
OH NO! 😱 If it was my project I would sand it to get it out and then do another layer of resin. This will give you the best final result. I do not know any shortcuts around that one.
That is beautiful! I’m going to try the layering on a small canvas first. The colors and the cells are just amazing. Thank you.
You're welcome. Have fun! 😁

Happy to know you enjoyed the video and information. Yes, mica is a fun one in resin! Thanks for subscribing! 😃
I was wondering how to do this on smaller items, like a translucent leaf? Can one paint in layers rather than pouring and torching😅
On my geode resin artworks I use a paint pen to add details of line work.
Wow it looks amazing ❤️
Thanks Wendy! 💕
Beautiful, now I've gotta do this.
Thank you 😊. Enjoy the process!
Have you ever tried doing this in a 'river' (basically a deeper pour, not on a canvas) using mulitple layers in a clear resin?
Not yet but it would work.
Beautiful!!!
Thank you!!
Fabulous tutorial, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😁
I love your work!!!
Thank you so much Paul!

Super nice.
Thank you Denise 😊
Great job!
Thanks 😁
How you creat that beautiful cells? You are using alcohol??
The cells are not from alcohol. They are from working in layers, using the torch and heat gun to pull the pigmented resin over the clear resin.
Love it !!
Thank you friend 💕

Stunning!!! Thank you for sharing. is it possible to add print in between layers? Or sand the resin to paint over it?
Thanks 😊. Absolutely to both questions 👍🏻
Very helpful and nice. Would a second resin layer with mica powder hide pits?
Thanks 😁
You can do a clear coat of resin to hide pits. Just lightly sand your entire surface and carefully clean after sanding to remove all dust with isopropyl alcohol.
We need to prepare canvas befor resin pour or we can pour directly ???
You can although I usually spray paint with primer/sealer paint. Canvas can stretch under the weight of resin so I support underneath. Check out this video - th-cam.com/video/P_OVbEsbWn4/w-d-xo.html

Hi, can I ask did you sand between the first and second layer please? x
I did not sand between layers because I poured the second layer the very next day and the 2 will bond well within this time frame.
I’m confused when you say canvas are you pouring on a flat surface? Idk much about this just beginning so idk how it works but I see a lot of people using molds with edges
Yes. A canvas is a flat surface of cloth stapled to a wood frame.
Hi. What model heat gun are you using. Thanks
I have a Wagner Furno 5000

Was the color just paint??
Colors are pigments for epoxy
