      hi, sorry to bother you again but I have one last question, I am expecting to get my order of 5 colours of resin paste soon, and was just wondering if I should use some silicone oil to help with cells ?

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Resin does not need silicone to create cells. There are some products on the market specially made for resins that are silicone like such as ResiBlast or Chroma Chaos, but they also cause difficulties in resin if you are wanting to get a smooth and glossy surface on your artwork. Check out this video - th-cam.com/video/WN8d-Pr8KL4/w-d-xo.html

    Gorgeous! Thank you so much for your videos and explanations! Just started playing with resin and its so helpful watch a master like you. Did you add anything to help make cells like alcohol or resiblast? You mentioned using different types of pigments for better affects. I just have the colors from ArtResin and I'm not getting much in the way or cells/lacing.Trying to decide what other pigments to get. I watched a bunch of your videos and it seems like you have a ton from lots of different companies. Do you have a few you would recommend starting with? Advice on the best white?

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much.
      I did not add alcohol or resi blast. Check the description box on this video for products used.
      I am not a fan of ArtResin for epoxy resin or pigments. I have used them and agree with you that they do not produce good cells or lacing. The resin stays to flexible long after cure which means it is a "soft" resin overall. Not good for using in coaster applications as it cannot hold up to the higher temperatures from a coffee mug.
      I definitely have many different brands of product. My current go to favorite white is from The Epoxy Resin Store - www.theepoxyresinstore.com?aff=16 All of their colors are intense and so just a tiny bit goes a long way. I have their complete color set to mix custom colors. I also like their resins. They have several different ones for different application and almost no smell to them which is fantastic and the price is excellent. Check them out. Great company and people there. @@MoonkusserArt Thanks! Do you use their powder pigments, alcohol inks or liquid pigments or a combo?

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Jacquard products like the Pearl Ex Mica Powders are lovely. I use them all the time as a stand alone color or for custom color mix. The Piñata Alcohol Inks are the best in the industry in my opinion. They work well for the "petri dish" style of coasters in molds. I do use them to mix a custom color along with other pigment types as well. Liquid pigments specifically made for resin work best especially when looking to use in combination with other products. I have found it easier to get from a transparent color all the way to opaque look.
      I make up resin puddles of colors whenever I have a bit of leftover resin. My work surface is covered with plastic so I just pour it out, let it cure, then pop it off the plastic and label it for reference. Works great!

    Very Awesome! This is just straight resin and color additives correct? Or did you add floetrol or silicone like for acrylic dirty pours? I just started working with resin...but started in jewelry and coasters. I have wondered for awhile, if you could do some of the same techniques using resin, like you do with acrylic pours/swipes. Now I see, you can. That's pretty cool! Thank you for your tutorial.
