That's is actually a common phrase over there; when something goes wrong they always say 'More was lost in Mohacs' as a way of saying 'it could have been worse'. This is how badly the defeat there scarred the Hungarian peoples.

The Arab lands had a high percentage in the empire, so they were part of the armies that were formed. Of course, there were other peoples besides the Arabs who were part of the army, and they all fought bravely for what they wanted. Ottomans were hegemon of the battle field at 15,16 century. After Mohac no europian power could dare Ottomans in pitch battle in open fielld. Ottoman have developped combined arms tactics that could counter whatever europians could throw them at.
A few things are important to clarify: first of all: There were only mountains in the Western direction, only reefs and marshes on the Danube side. 2. The Turkish janissaries on the left wing arrived late, so they were attacked by the Hungarian heavy cavalry. 3. not a single Hungarian rushed to the Turkish bed in the center. In fact! With cannons turned to the left to help the janissaries, the Turkish artillery shot themselves in the pile! And the Turkish cavalry coming at a gallop from the Right wing, while going down the steep side, fell one by one! Because the ground was clayey and terribly slippery! 4. A total of 18,000 Hungarians and 32,000 Turkish soldiers died. (The 18,000 Hungarians also include Czech and German mercenaries!)
As I heard from a Hungarian historian in a radio show who studied well this battle, only a few thousands of Turk died. The Hungarian forces already took the camp and it seemed the battle is over when the Sultan ordered immediate charge against the lost camp. From marching two Turk infantry sub army immediately did the charge and made end of the Hungarian advantage. The Turk army counted about 50000-80000 men.

A Temesvárt ostromló paraszt sereget, a Főúri Bandériumok, a nehéz-lovasság első kopja-rohamával szétverte. A menekülő parasztokat hátulról kaszabolták le. Legyilkoltak, kb. 15 ezer embert. Utána pedig vagy 5000 embert karóba húztak. Az egész Világ rettegett ettől a fegyvernemtől. Az íjjak, a korabeli török puskák hatástalanok voltak ellenük. A németek puskái pedig sokkal jobbak voltak, hosszabb, könnyebb, szabályosabb csővel. Már meglátszott a törökök technológiai lemaradása.

Pontosabban azt állította kb. a szakember (elnézést de ennél pontosabb emlékezetem nincs a müsorból) hogy a török források néhány ezer török halottról írtak de valószínüleg (vagy nem lehetetlen hogy ??) ennél nagyobb volt a török halottak száma. Nem emlékszem pontosan, de ehhez képest akkora nagy szám abszurdnak hangzik. Nekem eléggé egyenesnek tünik ahogy az akkori török szerzök írtak. Persze nem vagyok a téma szakértöje csak nem tudom mi okból hazudoztak volna.

For example Vlad the Impaler's night attack against the Ottomans. I saw several videos about that, still, that attach had 0 effect... So, when it comes about the Hungarians, only the "most important" battle is presented, but regarding other nations, also the less important battles... This triggers me.

The outcome of the battle could have been different if a significant Hungarian force led by János Szapolyai had arrived. In addition, we were preoccupied with the succession to the throne because of the death of the king. The Turks did not seek immediate conquest after the battle. They marched against Vienna a few times, but did not succeed. However, they intervened in the Hungarian throne dispute on the side of János Szapolyai, who was recognised as the sole king against Ferdinand I (Habsburg). The Sultan's secret plan was to make the kingdom vassal dependent by the fealty of King János. In 1538, the parties concluded a peace treaty at Várad, under which the crown was to pass to Ferdinand on the death of Szapolyai. Before his death (in 1540), King John, having had a son by his wife, Izabela Jagiellonka, changed his will and named his son as his successor. In 1541, Ferdinand's armies besieging Buda were driven out by the Hungarians after the arrival of Suleiman's 'allied relief' forces. The Sultan then summoned the queen to his camp with the child king and many of the lords whom he had taken prisoner. In the meantime, the Turks had taken the castle, so they conquered Buda by trickery. Ferdinand then wanted to 'unify' the country in the name of 'fighting the Turks'. The Principality of Transylvania did not ask for this, and under János's successors it became an independent and prosperous Hungarian state, although paying taxes to the Sultan. The defence of the Kingdom of Hungary was soon reorganised. The handful of defenders of Eger Castle repelled the outnumbering Turks in 1552. Could there be an equally professional video about this?

És a barokk kori, nehéz páncélzatot nem tudta átlőni a törökök puskája. A lovak szügye is páncélozott volt. Tehát az első 15 percben már meghalt, 2000 janicsár. Mint már többször írtam: jártam a helyszínen, kb. 210 km Budapesttől. Nincs messze. Nem kellene ezeken így vitatkoznunk, mert ezek a tények. Javaslom, utazzon oda, és tekintse meg a sírokat. Gondosan össze van gyűjtve minden. A török haderő kb. 100 Ezer katonából állt. Ezt viszont mi nem tudhatjuk pontosan.
Emlékezzünk, a Dózsa féle paraszt háborúra. 1514. A Temesvárt ostromló paraszt sereget, a Főúri Bandériumok, a nehéz-lovasság első kopja-rohamával szétverte. A menekülő parasztokat hátulról kaszabolták le. Legyilkoltak, kb. 15 ezer embert. Utána pedig vagy 5000 embert karóba húztak. Az egész Világ rettegett ettől a fegyvernemtől. Az íjjak, a korabeli török puskák hatástalanok voltak ellenük. A németek puskái pedig sokkal jobbak voltak, hosszabb, könnyebb, szabályosabb csővel. Már meglátszott a törökök technológiai lemaradása.
@@datasilv Majd utánanézek a hanganyagnak fent van a TH-cam-on. Pontosabban azt állította kb. a szakember (elnézést de ennél pontosabb emlékezetem nincs a müsorból) hogy a török források néhány ezer török halottról írtak de valószínüleg (vagy nem lehetetlen hogy ??) ennél nagyobb volt a török halottak száma. Nem emlékszem pontosan, de ehhez képest akkora nagy szám abszurdnak hangzik. A források írnak a magyar táborban foglyul ejtett és lefejezett 2000 emberröl és a magyar régészek meg is találták a maradványokat kb. ennyi embertöl (nök és gyerekek csontjait is) tömegsírokban. Akkor az a kérdés hogy erröl mi okból írt igazat a török szerzö. És mi okból lehet tudni hogy a késöbbi szigetvári ostromnál meghalt 30000 katona a török seregböl. Nekem eléggé egyenesnek tünik ahogy az akkori török szerzök írtak. Persze nem vagyok a téma szakértöje csak nem tudom mi okból hazudoztak volna.

The outcome of the battle could have been different if a significant Hungarian force led by János Szapolyai had arrived. In addition, we were preoccupied with the succession to the throne because of the death of the king.
The Turks did not seek immediate conquest after the battle. They marched against Vienna a few times, but did not succeed. However, they intervened in the Hungarian throne dispute on the side of János Szapolyai, who was recognised as the sole king against Ferdinand I (Habsburg). The Sultan's secret plan was to make the kingdom vassal dependent by the fealty of King János. In 1538, the parties concluded a peace treaty at Várad, under which the crown was to pass to Ferdinand on the death of Szapolyai. Before his death (in 1540), King John, having had a son by his wife, Izabela Jagiellonka, changed his will and named his son as his successor. In 1541, Ferdinand's armies besieging Buda were driven out by the Hungarians after the arrival of Suleiman's 'allied relief' forces. The Sultan then summoned the queen to his camp with the child king and many of the lords whom he had taken prisoner. In the meantime, the Turks had taken the castle, so they conquered Buda by trickery. Ferdinand then wanted to 'unify' the country in the name of 'fighting the Turks'. The Principality of Transylvania did not ask for this, and under János's successors it became an independent and prosperous Hungarian state, although paying taxes to the Sultan.
The defence of the Kingdom of Hungary was soon reorganised. The handful of defenders of Eger Castle repelled the outnumbering Turks in 1552. Could there be an equally professional video about this?
