Fantasic!!!! Great job explaining and showing Scott. You fixed our rod problem. Maybe title needs to be 'Quick Fix to Traverse Drapery Rod Not Working. Problem solved!'👏
Perfect! We were gifted a used traversing rod that is adjustable. Of course, my window is not the same size. This meant when I adjusted the length of the rod, the left side did not open all of the way. Same solution is applied in this instance.
THANK YOU!!! Like you said at the beginning of your video, there are never any instruction that come with these rods that tell you how to diagnose / fix this problem. I've been suffering this problem for ages, now thanks your video I can finally fix it.
Thank you Scott. I have been dreading getting some one to fix my curtains. They are very wide and heavy. They got to where I couldn't open them, the draw string was loose as well. I am grateful for your simple explanation of where to start when it won't draw. I was also able to tighten up the pull cord. In a matter of 10 minutes, they are working perfectly THANK YOU
Thank you so much!! We just bought our home and the curtains were driving me crazy! You saved me tossing these out and having to get cheap curtain rods. Such a simple fix.
Thanks Scott. I rarely install these so I forgot about the string having to be over that hook. Shame on Kirsch for not showing that in their directions that come with the rod.
Mr. Scott THANK YOU SO MUCH for such a detailed explanation on what's wrong and how to fix it! I just followed your instructions and my curtains are fixed!!!😁 Bless you ❤️
Thanks so much. The rope broke on an old rod set that we inherited with the house purchase 42 years ago. We managed to restring the rod with the assistance of another video (very helpful!) but there was no mention of the critical critical hook. We thought the problem was weight of the recently hung curtains. Thanks so much for the fix!!
Thank you Scott, your easy to follow explanation and instructions saved us from quite a bit of stress. Simply unhooking the master carriers, moving them back, and rehooking them solved what we thought was a broken system. Best wishes from New Zealand.
I haven't used my curtain track for over ten years and was just about to purchase an entirely new system when something said just try again to see if you can find an instructional video and this was it! Thank you so much for your clear and concise guidance!
Same here Scott. Seriously simple to fix due to your easy to follow video. I love the fact you don't need to take the curtains right off. Ezzy pezzy lemon and squezzy
The most common reason for the drape/glides to catch on the extension is a cheap rod! Traverse rods sold in big box stores and online our junk! The only rod I use are Kirsch super fine rods, they offer a tight tolerance with little play in them. I’m sure if you google you will find them, not cheap but worth the money! You can also reach behind the rod and use silicone spray to lubricate. Silicone is non-staining.
@@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom Bummer - I was hoping for a tip on how to manage that. the rod is 12.5 and it was the one we found at the time at that length. Six months later the we received the curtain so we were unaware that there would be a problem. I'll have to try the silicone.
Thank you Mr. Weaver for that string/hook tip applying to a center-draw-pull. My problem at my new airb&b is with 1. the living room right-side-draw and 2. bedroom left-side-draw traverse rods over sliding doors. Both traverse rods get stuck at the center-support-piece and neither open or close properly. I'm afraid tugging hard will break the cords or pull the rods off the wall! Guests arrive next week! Please, what is your advice?
@@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom Success, Scott. Thank you. A bit of a snafu, when one carrier was moving towards the middle, the other carrier wanted to travel in the same direction, in effect stopping all movement. Figured out the left carrier had to be on the other string and not the same one as the right carrier. Oops.
Thanks for your informative video. However,my problem is a little different. My curtains close to a certain point, and then something jams, and the curtains will not close the rest of the way. This has been coming on gradually.
Try removing the drapes and see if both sides fully open to the same distance. I think you may find one side to open further than the other side. To fix this issue you will need to make sure the draw cord is not tensioned and just like in this video reach up and take the cord out of the hook like I show and push both center carriers all the way back so they are equal and then put the cord back on the hook. Good luck!
I had this issue for months and couldn't figure it out. Thank you for the easy to understand video!
Thanks! I would have spent hours trying to figure out the problem and probably just gotten frustrated.
I’m glad it helped thanks for watching!

Thank you! This is the most complete explanation of this I've found. Saved my sanity at the end of the project.

FYI I was just told by the boss that we have Kirsh rods.

Very helpful, thank you!!
Thank You, Scott!!!! You saved me!!!!!
Does the rod need to be taken off the wall to do this ?
No neither do the curtains which is great just make sure you take the curtains of the steal masters
Awesome!! Thank you! Fixed my issue straight away!
For a complete beginner, would it be easier to take the rod off the wall to restring? I have the double traverse rod.
Yes if you need to restring the rod it is much easier if you take it off the wall. Good luck!
@@Factorydirectdesignersworkroom Scott, thank you.
