I live in Turkey, I am gay, lots of people know it. I try to be open about it because I don't want to hide who I am. But it is hard. My family is not ok about it. The whole country is not ok about it. I kinda fight with 'em. I just wish I was accepted by my family, and people I love, and not feel ashamed by it.

I don't say my parents are bad people or anything but the whole culture is looking at it like something that has to be fixed or never happen at all. But it does. We are who we are. But there's one thing missing here; in this age range, girls almost always try to exclude boys from their own little girl-groups. Because it is the age they start to realize there're human beings more different than them in a lot of areas, and it forces these little girls to stay away from them for a while before getting to know this kind named as "men." 😀 I think your reaction was normal regarding your age. It doesn't seem like it was something sexual then. But whatever; that's not the case, you were freaking cute!

Begümnaz Yürekli Exactly. My sister also hated boys growing up and now she does feel attracted to them. So I don’t think that the video from her childhood makes it very obvious, but by what Sadie said I understand that she did feel a different way very early on.

Cause I also was born and raised in Istanbul an I live in Munich/Germany since I was 14 but it never is a problem to me to switch to Turkish since it's my native language and I spoke it so long. :) Love and peace 👍😊

Hey Sadie, thanks for your video. Here my two cents about your little video that your mom recorded: I personally do not see it as a sign of being gay. I can remember and still see that when I was in that age girls and boys always felt/ feel awkward when they were/are asked about the opposite sex. Of course now you are clear in your mind that you're gay, but whatever you said in that video, was not different from every little girl and boy at that age. I don't want to make it too long here but you can Google for it why little kids don't like the opposite sex. It's a well known phenomenon and for me not something that proofs you being gay :) wish you the best

    • @rockermerthsm
      @rockermerthsm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Theodor Zerbst Nahh it seemed a lot like gender dysphoria which usually ends up as adult homosexuality, I also have similar pattern in my chilhood videos.

    • @MusicIsOurSavior
      @MusicIsOurSavior 6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

InfiniteBeach34 i can tell you that I had the exact same pattern. Also my friends. When I was in kindergarden I hated girls. We always stayed away from them. Now I am over 25 and only attracted to women. Just check on Google. You will see that this is a normal phenomenon within children and there are some good reasons for that. I wouldn't already diagnose gender dysphoria just based on a one minute video that you have seen from her childhood.
I do think that when you look back as a gay person that you overrate such moments in your life just to find confirmation that you have always been like that but underrate or ignore all these moments where you did have "heterosexuals feelings".

Theodor Zerbst I honestly never ever had a straight attraction to a woman in my 20 something years of life, if I ever did I would make myself believe to easily blend in with the society and tell myself that I can be straight too, but no. Btw it is very dependent on culture, in Turkey like Sadie didnt mention, little kids dont have a repulsion for opposite sex, on the contrary they are highly encouraged to form romantic relationships with other sex by the society, parents and teacher, all in all we start life pretty straight here.

Hey, Sadie! I can really relate to that. I grew up in a small city in Brazil and growing up the thing I wanted the most was just to be normal and to be accepted. I would ways tell my friends I had a crush in a guy even if I wasn't feeling anything for him. When I was around 15 I started to accept that I was attracted to women, but even then I kept that to myself. Then I really had a crush in a boy, that lasted for a long time. But it all changed when I moved from my hometown to São Paulo, to go to college. The firs day I moved to my dorm and I met a girl that was really happy when she saw my lockscreen (it was Lexa, a lesbian character). Some days after that she told me she was gay and I came out to her as bisexual, for the first time in my life at 19. At University people were completely different and open minded, so I felt good and safe. Now I am 21 and I still didn't came out to my parents, but I understand who I am and I'm proud of that. Also, last year I lived for 5 months in Turkey, but I never talked to anyone there about my sexuality.

Regarding lgbt in Turkey, I'm not gonna lie, I personally find it repulsive... However, one of my relatives died after receiving aides from her husband who was secretly gay, they both died.
I think allowing lgbt to love freely will end lgbt marrying straight out of fear. I mean, I'd want to know if the woman I'm dating is straight or gay and not just hiding. It would be a shame after idk, 20 years of marriage and finding out she wants a divorce.
So yeah, I support lgbt, but only so that you guys can have your love freely and we can have ours. God makes us the way we are. It's not my problem nor can I read the mind of God. It's none of my business

Not liking man as a woman(or the other way around) is considered "not normal" and that is so wrong and so unacceptable because there is so many people that didn't know their sexuality because it wasnt something that was talked about or wasn't like accepted (although i would say as a country turkeys mindset is getting better at accepting people turkey still has a long way to go )

Dear sadie, i'm a girl from iran. Our stories are same! I born in a culture which don't accept me. I couldn't accept myself for years bcause i was top student and stuff like that for many years, i tried to have a boy crush exactly at 12! I even wrote him lyrics, same as u... i had crush on my teachers all my teenage years... all the students in my school made fun of me that i was gay... but i didn't want to accepte. I was thinking i just love them bcause i'm so kind 😐😐😐
Finally i understood i'm gay. I accept myself at 19. I choosed butch style for 4 years to rebelle and show everyone my identity. But people made fun of me, throw garbage, cigarette at me in streets, stared at me and said hate words to me...
Now i'm ok with myselfe. I look like me. I don't need special style to feel like myself or anything. I told my parents about me.
I'm 24. And anytime i felt in love, i was alone. Anytime i felt in love, i end up crying.
Bcause i grow up in a culture wich girls play with lesbians, this kind of relationship for them is like a game, ice cream, chocolate... they just want lesbians fall in love with them to tell the story for their boy crushes. look! Do you think that girl is hot? She's in love with me. and then boys say wooow and that girl feel like a queen.
I'm 24, i never had gf, i never went to a romantic date, i never had anythig even close to love. And i feel like my heart is drowning in ocean of tears. Everynight i cry for my endless loneliness. Bcause i have no hope for finding true love. Because my soul and every cell of my body is alone. I don't have friend, i don't have partner, i don't have even me anymore, i lost me. Iost me during all this years. I just have my parents and i'm affraid to lose them. It is so hard to leave my country, cause our money became worthless. And i don't know any other lesbian here, like they don't exist. I was thinkig if i work for years i can move to turkey, i was researching about turkey condition and i find out, it's not much better than here. But dear sadie i wanna tell you: i never give up being myself even if that means i'm gonna die alone or crying for the rest of my life... never.
    Love from iran 🌈💙

Hey Sadie, I want to say that I can't believe there aren't more videos like yours, but knowing the tension in Turkiye right now, I have to say that your video is incredibly brave. I am half Turkish, but grew up in America during the year and Turkiye during the Summer. My mother calls it a "phase" and I could never tell my grandmother. I'm considering making a video about it because with all the lgbt awareness videos, there aren't enough about those who come from repressed cultures. I hope that if you go to Pride in Turkiye, that you stay safe because I've seen the footage and it looks scary, but hopefully you've been to one in America. Those are tons of fun! :)

Sadie, hi. I guess you made a video on this where I had commented about how ppl approach lgbt individuals in Turkey, but no longer I can access it, it seems. Np, anyways. I'm not here to comment on your own experience, opinions etc about the subject. But the thing is... Well, lets start with this... I'm living in a small town and even we have small casinos/clubs here where gay/trans musicians, vocalists take stage from season to season since my childhood. Ppl regularly go those places to kill some time with their family, children, friends etc. I don't know about your environment in Turkey, really. But there was Sisi (Seyhan Soylu), Bülent Ersoy, Serbülent Sultan,.. on tvs and radios 7/24, cause they were popular artists/performers/celebs of their age. Every marriage Bülent Ersoy made (more than few marriages she went through) were highly accepted in this society. No one poke their nose in even she was a mag. streamer also with her incredible talent in Turkish classical music. And Zeki Müren was most respected of all virtuoso for almost my entire life. He was in super mini skirts&shorts during his nation wide tour performances, even to smallest Anatolian villages... They were uploaded to YT, you can see it if you want (/watch?v=1Ax_-5JBlEM). And movies like Şabaniye, Gırgıriye; where leading actors were dressed like female singers and at a point one of their male fans falls in love with them. There, although they confess they are not really women, still they got the answer: 'Oh, no, it's not important, I'm readily into your personality, your talents; not your being feminine' ... They are cult movies indeed, I'm not talking about random stuff; all middle aged Turkish ppl would say if you asked. We, genx&geny&genz, were brought up watching and listening to these in Turkish tvs/radios/theaters.
And you were brought up in İstanbul? Really, I couldn't believe my ears when you said you don't know anything about being gay while growing. Living in smallest town, where everyone knows eachother, i grew up knowing gay ppl, trans ppl etc, indulging/involving with eachother.
So i needed to say smt here. My wish for you is being positive about life.

hi sadie, just wanted to say that i love your videos. i'm 19 and as far as i know i am straight who is super supportive of the lgbt+ community and i just love listening to peoples experiences and their journeys to find themselves. it's very unfortunate that there is still a lot of way to go but i hope one day we get to that point where everyone is excepting regardless of sex, sexuality and gender. I too grew up to the idea of being gay was abnormal and it was not even talked about around my environment. It still i guess which is pretty disturbing but if i ever become a parent, i will make sure my kid/s will have the right environment to find out who they are and i will be there to help and support them.
I'm glad you are happy and i wish you and p. nothing but the best. take care :)
ps. don't be sorry for not speaking turkish. just continue with the language you are more comfortable with. Some don't get why but i know, sometimes it is actually hard to speak a language you don't feel that connected to and that is okay.

Of ya ben baya baya biseksüeldim AMA HERKESİN BÖYLE OLDUĞUNU SANIYORDUM DKJSHLKVHNERKTUU HERKESİN HERKESTEN HOŞLANDIĞINI SANIYORDUM VE BİSEKSÜEL OLDUĞUMU FARK ETTİĞİMDE BU HEP HAYATIMIN BİR PARÇASIYMIŞ GİBİ HİSSETMİŞTİM

I just read an wiki article about 🏳️‍🌈 in Turkey, it was legalized long time ago, i thought it would be so cool living in Turkey, after watching this video it turned out to be another story. I hope the best for you and you were so cute in that video.
    Love from China ❤️

I've watched some stories about it, it is usually completely legal, even to be transgender, but the people are what'll hurt you, not the law. a lot of places won't hire them, and many murders happen, especially to transgender women. the opposite of russia, where younger people are accepting, but the laws will hurt you.

db ben 16 bitimi 17 basinda amerikaya geldim. Sacmaliyor biraz. Bir insan ana dilini asla unutmaz. Bozulmalar olabilir ama asla boyle birsey olmaz. Ustune ustluk anneside orda ben 5 senedir yalniz yasiyorum dusun 16dan 21e kadar.
