    How do they carry 6 plus 200 round drum mags full to the brim into combat without significantly reducing mobility and agility…??? Very serious question or do the team members help take the weight and spread it out

    • @TheGruntPerspective
      @TheGruntPerspective  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Every member of a machine gun team carries ammo. The gunner actually carries the least in most cases (to compensate for the weight of the gun) That being said the gunner does need to carry some ammo. For 7.62 about 200 rounds, and for 5.56 it’s not uncommon for the gunner to carry 200 rounds on the gun, and 400 rounds on his gear. As for the team leader and ammunition bearer, they would be carrying the rest of the ammo needed for whatever mission you’re doing. If it’s too much for them to carry, then we start to spread out ammo amongst the rest of the squad/ plt.

    FYI on the slings I think blueforce gear makes a sling specifically for belt fed weapons (I have no experience with them I just remember hearing Larry vickers mention designing a sling specifically for 240 gunners)

    • @TheGruntPerspective

      The ammo drums would go on the belt. The kit it definitely geared more towards 7.62 but it can work for 556

    For the gun level, you can buy ones that attach to 1913 rail and run it on the gun.
    Where do you carry the cleaning kit and broken case extractor?

    • @TheGruntPerspective
      @TheGruntPerspective  ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What do you need the fixed blade knife for that can't be done with the little folding knife on a multitool? So far, I've never needed it for anything except MRE bags and 550 cord but you're active duty and I'm not. The only thing I can think of is stabbing someone or something but that seems incredibly unlikely to me.

  • @12345678971926
    @12345678971926 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I do like the concept I saw Gunner load out a little bit easier to work with a 240 Gunner because I’m like a saw you don’t have a nut sack but there’s a coquette that’s blue force tactical that attaches to a 240 to give you a Nutsack on it but that’s expensive. Your video is very solid if you could do another one like that one for a saw recommendation, and the second part for 240 gonna recommendation overall keep up the good work

    For my new gunner joes this is for you (luv u all)
    I am in a leg unit, our SOP allows us to do whatever with our kit but consult your AG/TL on what to and not to carry. I don't carry a battle belt as a gunner but carry everything on my plate carrier because I am not supposed to carry much. No sidearm. No gay ass knife. Just your gerber, gun maintenance, and NODs stuff. I carry nods, misc. shit, and have a back panel to carry hygiene items like socks and shirts. Batteries go in GP, lube in GP, rag in GP, snacks in GP. Nods in nods pouch. No ammo pouches. Just IFAK, GP, and NODS pouch. I don't take my sling off my 240 ever except for demonstrations (and punishment ;P). I'll store range cards in my admin pouch because I run a WTF24 plate carrier and it's built in but you may want an admin pouch to. I say this to help you all: ONLY RUN WHAT YOU NEED FOR YOUR GUN. Carry what your gun needs and what you need. We don't store ammo on us because our AG and ammo bearer are with us in FOOM, and if the AG dies the mission is probably failing or the AB replaces him.
    If I was an AG or AB or a rifleman I would carry a ton more shit and a battlebelt, but that's the nice thing about being a gunner is you just gotta worry about your gun and you. Don't try to be the be all man, just carry what you need. We're not trying to pouchmax this bitch when it's pouring rain in yakima and you're loaded with shit you're not gonna use. This changes in other units, but don't be like some of these other privates carrying a rifleman loadout when they're a gunner. Take care guys have fun being the most dangerous fuck on the battlefield (if only in our dreams at least).
    Would love to see some content on gustav gunners BTW. Not enough videos are on actual infantry shit that kills people, just this high speed gayness.

    saw gunner vs 240 gunner, isn't that different set-ups? Unless you're employing the saw as a shorter ranged crew served mg w double the ammo... but that's theoretical, nobody I knew ever did that.
    I don't think you should impede your pistol draw. When you need that thing you need it right away. Like if you're climbing over a wall or up a ladder while the gun is strapped across your back. or if you encounter someone while the gun is locked in its mount.
    On your belt carry, 100 rnds rounds each side either 762 box or 100 rnd nutsacks, this should leave enough space for the pistol on the right, knife & nvg hardcase on the left. so what about the other ammo belts? Carry those on a pack. Not in regular assault pack but on gunner specific packs that carry just the stuff you need + water. don't they issue something like this to carry the 300 round belt bag for the ag?
    saw gunner:
    2x100 rnd nutsacks on belt.
    2x200 rnd drums + water in gunner pack.
    100 rnd on the saw with optional 3rd 200 rnd drum in the pack, switch as needed. the pouch for these should be buckled not velcro.
    one pmag somewhere on the left side
    consider leaving the pistol behind
    weighing in at 30 lbs of ammo and 17 lbs of gun + 3 lbs ammo in the gun.
    240 gunner:
    2x100 rnd boxes on the belt.
    50 starter
    weighing in at 14 lbs of ammo and 27 lbs of gun + 3 lbs ammo in the gun + 3 lbs pistol & mags.
