    Experience with fiberglass work, I feel my whole back start to itch when I see Axel lying on his back under the boat. It is always fun to take part in your wonderful collaboration and relationship with each other.

      A few more spots to sand under the hulls ... With the dust and spiders and the mask and all! In the cold! 🤣 Looking forward to it...... 😭

    Well done, this a massive amount of work (x2 because it is a cat 😉) to make such structurally significant modifications to the hull(s). You have both done a fantastic job.😀👍⛵️

      Yes.
      But there was already a hole there and plans for bigger ones. For lifting oytboards. We just made it a little bit bigger 🤣

    Liked the engine opening comparisons to: an engine pod/drive cutout, a hole for an outboard to go up/down, instead an electric motor.

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bigger than a sail drive leg, but unlike that or a hole for a shaft, the opening is well above the waterline. (Once the moon pool is in)

  • @joelbrown4110
    @joelbrown4110 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    You need to give the drive system a catchy name and patent it.

      The problem is Bluettie. have similar systems and others have developed drops down bow thrusters.. But thankfully these two are happy enough to develop their own approach .
      It's a bold move but if you want to try something there's nothing like having a go at one to one scale 😊😎🤞🏻👍🏻.

    Great progress! Is the propulsion just going to go up and down or will it also turn like an outboard?

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Up and down to start with.
      Adding a azimuth control when we are on the water.
      They will turn more than an outboard. +/-135 degrees is my thinking right now... Perhaps+/-180 but that shouldn't be necessary.

    How thick is the catamaran hull at ring frame location. It looks to be extremely thick.

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The hull is 25 mm thick. Plus extra glass and filler, so near 30 mm
      On average, the ring is about 100 mm tall around the hole. Pretty stiff and strong.

      @@buildingwilda Your work is outstanding and real professional. Are you concerned in anyway about the reliability? I myself is not a big fan of electric propulsion and would rather stick with a traditional diesel engine. Anyway keep up the good work. Sorry to be so harsh.

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There are many ways to view this....
      Electric is super simple (and therefore reliable) in comparison to diesel...
      Battery cable controller motor
      One serviceable part .. bearings. (Replace after a really long time)
      So reliability is great. No fuel issues, water issues, air issues...
      Electronic issues are comparable to those of a modern diesel...
      And I don't have to carry a tonne of spares...
      But I can't run for days on end .. So there are definitely trade offs.
