Wes Barker is a Canadian magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. You may know me from my TV show Big Trick Energy (truTV, HBOmax, Netflix). Watch here for hilarious, ridiculous, and unfiltered ideas with magic, stunts, and pranks. Either I'm the funniest magician who is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is the best at magic? Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian from Vancouver, based out of Toronto, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me pulling pranks on friends, gags on strangers, or just general sleight of hand, magic, illusions, and the occasional bar bet. Wes Barker also hosts a podcast with Chris Ramsay called Bottom Of The Barrel. Go check it out!
What a great trick. The gag part worked wonders as a big misdirection for me because I kept expecting you were somehow going to do an "actual" prediction. Perfect timing, loved it.
Right?! I was expecting him to see "So if I didn't have the sign what would you have said" and then that being revealed under the tape.
"Really turns the whole idea inside out" Im guessing that's the clue
No. He just had a new shirt in his pants. Did you not see?
It’s a clever trick that I’m sure works great in a live performance on stage. The thing about filming it for a TV show the zoom in does show the trick a bit. It didn’t fool me, but it certainly entertained me. Nice trick Wes.
@@Desam1000 Then what did he do with the torn one?
It's sewn to the shirt he's wearing and is on the inside of the shirt on the back, which if you look at his shoulders at the reveal, they look slightly padded almost like extra cloth.
@@adamshinbrot When he takes off the shirt after taping the front (5:05), you can briefly see the inside of the back is taped already on the inside. So he just turned the shirt inside out and put it back on backwards. Thus, all the tape that was put on the ripped portion on the front, was now inside and on the back.
They were very careful at 6:05 to not show the back of the shirt on camera.
Great to see you back on the show. One of my favorite people in the business. Always a fan of comedy and magic.
Thanks man!
GOOD JOB BUDDY!!! You're a great magician and an even braver man for going shirtless on national tv with that body.....
Hahahaha
As a certified gay man, I promise Wes is a zadddddy (that's a very good thing)
Good one ;)
"You're a great magician"
anyone could have walked out there for the first time and done that show!
This is how you know someone's your true friend!
You rock Eric, come do some shows in Edmonton Alberta some time.
Thanks for watching! You can check out my first appearance on this show here th-cam.com/video/J8L3EBJhXU4/w-d-xo.html
Video Unavailable. 😥
It says it's blocked in my country? (I'm in the US)
@@Chantillianit does work.. at least for me (canada)
I loved your first "Fool Us" trick with the phone book, and I appreciated it even more after I watched your video explaining how you did it. This trick was great too, and I love how you incorporated the instant stooge bit to inject some humor.
*Did Penn & Teller not remember you from the first time? The intro kind of made it like you were this new guy that has never been on the show before. No mention of you fooling them once already.*
@@AzNightmare I know right?! I saw the intro and was like "Wait didn't he do the phone book trick before!?"
Guess it's been such a while, they all forgot 😂
I also think it's funny how he was on the show with two different hosts, but never with Allison
I really liked the BLUE, 173 and LION magic intentionally revealed act. Your comedy was great. The black T-shirt and duct tape act was cool for your real trick. I suspect that the magic involved has many layers to it and double taping. Lastly, your lady flight attendant love is a real keeper.
Many what?
It's just turning the T-shirt inside out and wearing it so that the recently taped side goes on the back while the one taped earlier is then revealed on the front.
Wes is the most aWESome, creative, likeable and funniest magician out there!🤘🔥 change my mind
Edit: he did not pay me to write this
Hahaha I’ll e-transfer you later.
Unexpected to see you back on Fool Us! Thoroughly enjoyed the performance, as always.
Thank you!
This is one of the funniest tricks I've ever seen on Fool Us. You had me on the stooging part since they don't allow that & turning it into a joke was perfect. You fooled me.
They allow instant stooges, as there is legit evidence of them being used in the past. They don't allow planted stooges though.
Wes is always a class act. Even though he didn't fool them, he won because he got to perform. Good job Wes.
Love the stooging part! I think almost everyone would want to steal this in one way or another
Props for Wes for being my favorite friendly performer. Wes uplifts my mood which is similar to drinking a good IPA.
They knew it, and that's ok. It was still fun to watch and trying to figure tricks out is half the fun of watching magic for me. I have been watching Wes and his friends online for years and I think they are great.
Penn has said that the winner of season one was Piff the Magic Dragon even though he didn't fool them. It's all about being entertaining in front of a massive crowd that magicians don't always have access to.
Cool use of Cut and Restored. Teller looked really annoyed at the end of the first "reveal", then completely delighted at the end of the trick.
lol absolutely
What a tear-able trick! it was fun and entertaining!
2:53 Teller's facial expression is so funny
The entertainment value far outweighs the secret method (VERY clever and new!). GREAT job, Wes!
I did actually pick up how this was done on the first run through, but you still did an incredible job and knowing how is a tiny fraction of actually pulling it off, pun intended.
You are an entertaining showman and I always enjoy your videos.
I loved this! Very entertaining and a well executed trick. That said, I think I figured out Penn's code, so for my guess press "Read more"
I think the shirt wasn't fixed. To begin with, I think he had a shirt with tape on the inside along the back. Then, while he was doing his taping together on the floor bit, I think he turned the shirt inside-out and put the part with tape on the front. The part he taped live was inside on the back now, so you couldn't see it. Still, it took Penn's obvious code for me to figure it out without watching it twice. Well done, and very fun to watch!
Went back after reading your comment. You can see the tape at the bottom back of the shirt when he is taking it off.
That first 2 minutes looked like the best trick I've ever seen xD
Not only do I think I figured out the tricks, but then I get to feel like I figured out the clues…. And I’m ALWAYS WRONG!!!! Love this, and I especiallly love seeing my girlfriend, Brooke!
What courage and what bravery does this guy have to go on national television with a brand new trick that no one has ever seen before take a shirt off and just say here I am! And I think people love him for it!
Your presence on stage is just amazing you lighten up the mood in a wonderful way, hopefully, one day I can attend a show of yours. also a great idea for the shirt trick.
I love how you also teased all us armchair magicians who were so smugly like "puh - instant stooging, DUH"
Brook's face is so funny when you watch it second time her giving the answers 😂
Great performance!
Penn was a little heavy-handed with the code words there…
It wasn't *that* hard to figure out.
@@nazfrde Yes, all the more reason not to lead everyone down the garden path.
No lie even a shmoe like me caught on and I'm thick lol
P&T want people to figure it out if they are studying. For those who aren't they don't try to decipher the reaction from them. Besides...this is an easy one to figure out. My 13 year old child knew and explained it. Yes...he studies magic and didn't need Penn to tell him any clues.
You can literally see the ripped shirt under his collar and mushed up on his traps and behind after the switch. It wasn't that hard to figure it out.
Awesome job Wes! Eric stole my joke, so I'll just fanboy and say that you're legit one of my favorite magicians!
Man that trick is really good! Great performance, Wes!
Thanks so much!
Always love your material, Wes, especially when you tear it on stage 😂 Frankly, most of the best routines don't fool PandT, and this is up there.
Much appreciated 🙏🏻 🍻
Welcome back to Penn and Teller. I missed your unique energy and enthusiasm. Keep up the great work.
The Moment when the trick is explained and everyone thinks "wtf!?" 😂 havent seen anything like that before.. im just stunned 😊
Fun fact, during a season with Alyson Hannigan a magician came on and had her help him with a trick, which is why Penn said stooging is banned. But in this case Wes Barker was just kidding around and messing with both Penn and Teller and the audience and his push to the presenter didn't count as stooging. Fun trick though! And you didn't fool me! (I was gobsmacked as Brook said what you wrote down though!)
This is what you do when you run out of phone books to rip in half. A great 2nd appearance on fool us, thoroughly entertaining.
Does this mean in a few years shirts will be obsolete?
Figured out the trick, but incredibly entertaining. This is a show I would have paid to watch
I think I was even happier after figuring it out after P&T clue, which makes it a perfect Fool Us trick :D Wonderful!
You did amazing. Always loved seeing you do this trick. You'll get them next time!
Bro you always have the more interesting and inviting tricks, always a better version than anyone else! Cheers!
Your performance was stellar. Dude you are crazy. But a really really good kind. 😊👍😊👍😂
That dress pants is so amazing. Sparkling and shows of her figure perfectly.
Very simple trick but still fun to watch. Good performer!
That was a great routine, well done!
Great performance, I was absolutely stunned by the gag before I realised it was a gag 😂😂😂😂😂
So glad to see you back on the show, my man!
Amazing job none the less! 👏🏼
Whenever Penn says "wonderful act" you know your goose is cooked.
100%
Even though you didn't fool them, that was very nice to watch, through and through!
I appreciate that!
Love how unseriously you take yourself Wes. Which is sometimes hard for magicians to do. Great trick!
I've seen your act a lot. I'm telling you. This was my favorite. ❤
Totally missed an opportunity. Las Vegas... "Tassels" 😂😊😉
I was floored at three for three. Written down in front of our eyes.
You got a great angle on this one. Nice work!
Like they said, such a great spin on a Torn and Restore. 👏
Loved your intro as well Wes, you and Brushwood are the kings of YT riddles and barbets.
Dude, the fact that you're in front of Magic Royalty trying to "trick" them, shit what more needs to be said! Great job!!
Thanks!
aww they're a cute couple. i really hope they stay together forever. hopefully she finds a different job than flight attendant. i dated a flight attendant, almost married her, but didnt work out. wish these two the best
Didn't even try to fool them. Tear and repair is one of the oldest tricks. But loved it and love you Wes! You're the man
Awesome. Love your energy and way to perform.
That was totally awesome! I don't care how he did it. He fooled me and that's all matters! :) Very fun and entertaining!
I was very impressed because I know they hate any kind of stooges, instant or otherwise, and then you went and made it a joke instead of trying to present it as the real trick, all for the sake of building that patter and misdirection. I _think_ I know how it worked but it's such a good performance that I don't care if I know the trick or not; I just enjoyed the show.
I appreciate you not spoiling whether you fooled them or not in your title.
It's so annoying how many magicians post their performances and just spoil it in the title.
Really love this Concept!
Awesome trick regardless of victory or not, loved it!
Penn: Using a "bunch" of tape could be heavy on your "shoulders".
Sorry it didn't finish as clean as it should have in the end.
Great job Wes!
Awesome as always and your banter was really good.
Great showman ship.
So amazing and over the top. Love it man
enjoyed seeing you back on penn and teller
The first appearance was one of my favorites and I'm glad you came back.
But how come they didn't mention that you've fooled them before? They usually like to let everyone know that this is a returning appearance, especially since the ripping of the shirt ties in with ripping the phone book. I wish they acknowledged it.
Caught how you did it, and looking at the video, there's some clues there too if you know where to look. Still really enjoyed it though and love your magic. Can't wait to see you back on again!
At least you fooled me!
At first this spun my head around but very clever trick.
You know its kinda weird that this days every magician tries to be "funny" but there difference is right here, when you don't try ...you are simply funny. Also marvel should search for you. We need a new star lord :D
We dont allow 'instant stooging' is bullshit. Remember the one where people matched food to tables? Basically that guy handed each person the 'prediction' which they simply read. Anyway, this trick was a sweet reworking of an old concept. Good job!
Great performance! Your acts are always cool and funny! I was just surprised there was no mention that you were a returning fooler but hopefully you get the second trophy next time!
Making Vancouver proud 🙌🙌
6:44 whats on your shoulder bud lmao
😂😂Loved it. Great job 🎉🎉🇨🇦
I think you're my favorite second only to penn and teller themselves. I discovered you through your videos during covid. and have enjoyed them all greatly.
Many key moments have been cut out, so the viewer cannot judge. But it was still a great show.
Absolutely fantastic, Wes 😁🤘🎉
I love Wes!!!!!!
the close up shots at the end really gave it away on camera, from the audience I wouldn't have caught it
Oh that was great!! Will you be making a video revealing how you did this trick like the phone book one?
Really love this routine!
Holy hell you are the greatest magician I have ever seen. That’s not sarcasm or anything of the sorts I truly mean it. How anyone could marry up that far is mystifying!!!! She is gorgeous trust me some tiny outfits and bring her for your assistant and you will become worldwide sensation show trust me.
Always love your style, Wes. Great act, as always!
I was pleased to see you on there. I don’t know why you did a simple trick.
looked good but as said he turned the trick inside out!
I miss Jonathan, yall had such good stage chemistry 😂
Sad you did not fool them twice. Great trick. 😎👌
Wow! I want this kind of tshirt or the trick to do this. Amazing act
You can see where he’s like god dammit they got it
Great act. I really enjoyed the trick.
How is it you are so relatable and so talented
Loved it ❤
Great job Wes! I love your stuff.
So cool and it would work great too, but the thing i can't unsee is on the end during an interview, there is a rather small piece of fabrico peeking through his collar on his left shoulder (our right) :)
The way he turned that insideout
More great stuff Wes, please come to Boston!
People don't understand how easy it is to make money by just getting a significant other to do funny videos online with you.
Im a comedian but cant find a cool enough woman who wants to get rich filming videos. Its crazy. They want success but dont wanna work & have fun for it.
"Brooke, what do you think?"
"Umm..."
