- Claire Wendling is one of my all time favorite artists. Her drawings are fluid and gestural, and she has an incredible command of anatomy, design, and motion. This one is going to focus on gesture drawing, and drawing hands.
Claire is simply fantastic. The way she poses her characters in a way that's so natural and fluid... Her art is just staggering. Big fan of hers.
Claire's art is... masterfully beautiful! She's one of my all-time favorite artists, I can look at her work for hours on end, without even noticing time flying by.. I also love to draw inspiration from her. Thank you so much for all your teachings, David! You're a great person and a great artist. Cheers.
Thank you for introducing me to Claire Wendling. French artists have their own style and I love it.
Frazetta had to be one of the most influential fantasy artists of all time.

Iian McCaig would be another great study for his huge amount of film character and concept work.
I love the frazetta aesthetic when someone can do it well and in their own style.
Same... it is very hard to draw in his art style but you can take a lot from it :)
Claire is quite outstanding. I think Ashley Wood would be fantastic study choice as he is so dynamic and different then most. I steal from him here and there subtly.

When you refer to Kley (sp), did you mean Heinrich Kley?
Piqued my curiosity too. I kept hearing it as Anders Clay or Andrew Dice Clay (lol), but couldn't figure out who was meant. Thanks for commenting though. Regardless of whether Heinrich Kley was the one mentioned or not, I was unfamiliar with him, and his work looks interesting.

I almost never use construction lines.
Not that I'm good. I've always just drawn and if anything would revise especially as I got older with light trays
I've always been very good at drawing/illustrating, but the problem
is...I'm mentaly lazy when it comes to sittin' at a desk and just....
Drawing. For every year of my life, I've probably devoted apporoxi-
mately 4 weeks, on average---and yet, I'm not too far from being
as accomplished as these Pros' I see all over TH-cam.
Friends and family quit saying, "Man, you could make a lot of
Money, dude." But they know...I'm just not driven!
I envy you guys who can draw ALL DAY---Every day...
Wow I literally feel the exact same way brother. I think if ur born with the talent to draw it’s easy to rely on that too much n not put in the work to get better. Versus other artists who might not be as talented… but they work hard to get better. But if u could do both… have the talent combined with the hard work… ud b unstoppable my friend. I’m in the same boat so I kno exactly where ur coming from.
