- In this episode of the Elite dangerous theories i will be taking a look at the recently found Proteus ship, which was crewed by the survivors of the Hesperus megaship. I will be having a look at the logs at this site and speculating on where FDev could be going with the story of this.

This is the best lunch time show ever. You do such an amazing job making the lore come to life.
A note: this kinda makes me lean away from Salvation being a Guardian AI.
As for your theory about the Guardian v Thargoid significance, I think you're right. The guardian tech uses that blue energy glow that we see from the objects on the pillars. You even need one of those to activate them to get the guardian blueprint as well. It's likely intended to be a power source for a weapon but needs to be directed and controlled to be usable against the Thargoids.
I was looking for the Hesperus and am currently looking for another generation ship. I will resume the Hesperus search thanks to this. Cheers

@@williamread5652 While I agree it seems kind of decent, I still think it's a shame. Most if not all of the story/lore comes from beacons outside of the ship/settlement so there's no real need to enter them, but it still feels weird to only ever experience parts of this amazing lore from the outside. I honestly thought Odyssey would give us the chance to see laboratories and lore locations from the inside.

Also, the voicing you did while reading that log was actually really good. You've got natural talent for voice acting.
From what we know currently, I feel like Salvation being a Guardian is the most plausible outcome. And it could be explained by revealing the Guardians as extinct not through death of the entire species, but through becoming so advanced as a species that they leave the Universe entirely and are postbiological. A Kardashev rating of such a species would be 4, or maybe even 5.
They could see something in humanity that could warrant us being of value to the Guardians. Hence Salvation's attempts at helping us and, in his own words, preventing the extinction of humanity.
Thought it was a bit cheesy myself haha. I think that at least it would be plausible to suggest that a certain portion of the Guardian race has survived via implementation into the Monolith network. They mention in the Ram Tah logs that towards the end of the Apparent extinction, that those who embraced the new technology, had the ability to project their consciousness into robotic technology.
@@MATTIUS Agreed. But that begs the question regarding where the AI went. It seems most logical that it would leave the galaxy and either destroy itself or somehow get destroyed. Or maybe the Thargoids destroyed it.

@@williamread5652 Well it could start asking itself existential questions and have a crisis, prompting it to destroy itself.
But then again it could also be unphased by inherent meaninglessness of existence and be destroyed by something else at some point. It has been millions of years after all.
It is pretty unlikely that an entire society's worth of AIs all have existential crises all at once. The idea that they were destroyed by an external factor is a lot more plausible. Probably the Thargoids or something.

What if Banard's Loop is really the location of the Guardian homeworld. And that salvation are survivor Gaurdians trying not to reveal who they are or were they are for fear of the AI.
Interesting stuff! Salvation is definitely a mysterious character.

@@MATTIUS A Gaurdian site next to the loop. This seems more a defensive location than offensive. Like an early warning/look out.
@@skywarren4470 One problem an AI that wiped out a sentient race would not have sympathy for another. Especially one as violent as humans.
I would say that Salvation could be one of three things: An ancient Guardian AI that has tapped into human communications networks, or the last living Guardian, or a member of the Dark Wheel. In any case, it's clear that Salvation has access to more information than a normal human could, either by being something from the past, or being related to the Dark Wheel people who were sent back in time. The Dark Wheel's purpose seems to be trying to unravel a mystery, and in the first timeline before they were sent back, these locations were possibly never discovered.

Seeing as this is next to the Col70 sector, we might see more of the guardian sites surrounded by dead goids or maybe the opposite, goid structures next to crashed guardian drones that we’ve heard mention of in the codex. Who knows, but I sure as hell would like to

Exemplary work as always, Commander! This is the kind of stuff that keeps me going in Elite. I am currently out there at the Proteus. I did a run through of the Guardian structure to get a vessel blueprint. Luckily I had a few keys on my FC already. Checked out the ruins and the crashed Thargoid ships as well. Gonna scout the nearby systems later today, and see if I can't find some Brain Trees. They should exist within 80Ly of the Guardian Structure.

There are many questions to be raised with this excellent piece. Who were here first, Guardians or Thargoids?
Did the Thargoids stamp this place out due to their expansion or was it the other way around?
Not having been there yet, is this Guardian site offering new technology?
I personally think that this is some kind of Guardian outpost or settlement that was discovered during the war and as such neutralised, but without destroying the technology.
I’m also starting to think that Sanctuary is a collective or group as opposed to a single person. Sanctuary have recognised a threat to humanity and are stepping in to support us in a forthcoming conflict. o7 CMDR

That was another great video, really enjoyable. Leaving us again with more questions than answers. These rabbit holes seem to be leading deeper into god knows where. The body that was found, who found out originally about the location of the Guardian site and so on. Hopefully we'll get some answers along the way.

My tin foil theory is the guardians split into two and the thargoids are the bio half, we can see from their ships that they are bio in nature. It always bothered me that the guardians were supposed to have wiped themselves out entirely when the milky way for one is so large. We have found human remains but as far as we know no guardian/thargoid. Could it be that the thargoid site was a satellite station now abandoned ? The guardian sites also have no obvious signs of life, there does however seem to be one doorway that is closed on their temple sites. Fantastic work commander mattius 07.
We have found Live Thargoids before, as in there original form, INRA logs mention this. Not sure about Guardian Remains, don't think we have. Thank you for watching!

I'm wondering if the thargoids are invading human space becuase they are running from something(a re-emergence of the Guardians, their AI or maybe something entirely different). Perhaps whomever Salvation is, knows what this threat is and is helping humanity find technology that will save them in the coming conflict with whatever is out there.

@@Solnoric I've been wondering if it had a connection to The Club as well. They absolutely canonically exist in the game so there is no question there. It seems like it could be them wanting to get their hands on the tech.
On the flip side, could it be The Dark Wheel reaching out? They've recently been on the move via Turning the Wheel and when we first started doing that the CMs got a smirk on their face during the live stream then all this kicked off. Could be connected, though highly unlikely, to the expansion of TDW all over the bubble they are now ready to take a fight to The Club once again. Might need to call up the OG Children of Raxxla as well. It won't be related to the faction in game as that is our player faction, but in lore they also exist as NPCs and an off shoot of TDW.

It was a massive effort by folks. A ton of it came from non Canonn members this time as well which leans away from the standard accusations of data mining as well. Though certainly some of it was mined up without doubt as it always is. The very first commander to find the Hesperus didn't report it to anyone at all and found it via data mining.

I can’t get to the proteus Anaconda, I have a 57LY Krait Phantom and can’t reach the star. It kinda sucks do you need a Fleet carrier to get there?
Lock on to a system called Lam01 Orionis first. Then navigate to the location from there. Its a bit tricky guiding your craft using autopilot from the bubble.

I brought a new roll of tin foil mate . Cygnus is the door to the afterlife ...a journey we all must take . Constellation has a northern cross . It is mentioned in treasure planet. I'm at cygnus x-3 now and its a dud so far , further exploration is undergoing.

Salvation is an AI.
I've been of the opinion that salvation is tied to the club, either as a rogue former member or in some other way... But "salvation" as the code name for an AI that the club created? Oh that is entirely too on theme.
@@Solnoric I posted a comment on this channel detailing how Salvation could be affiliated with The Club. Although I don't personally believe this is the case, I am open to the idea.
This bullshit broken promise game sell you a story with the ending as Game of Thrones. Wake up and look on what it have become, just text story like in 90's that connects the aliens with humans, ridiculous. I thought by now in 21 century we gone have real time story line not a newspaper to read. Guardians player interaction based on story happened in 2017 that s why we all have Guardian weapons and ships, it repeat itself for the new players.
