Adam chose great song for his first Home Free video. It is fun.
Home Free decided to just call the Adams by their last names for clarity. So we have Rupp, Chance, and Bastien.
Chance is actually his middle name.

They did a great cover of one of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs. Bastien's voice was perfect for the lead. Everyone sounded awesome in the background vocals, with Tim's bass & Adam's vocal percussion. Looking forward to more of the new songs with the newest member.
Bastien chose this song to be his first video with the group. He has an energy and style all his own. I love the jazzy bluesy sound of this. Home Free's has gotten a good shot in the arm. I'm excited for what comes next. Great analysis as usual.

I refuse to compare..... afterall it is "HOMEFREE" They are amazing!!!! I am all in with HOMEFREE!!! Sound great and not missing a beat.......... I learned that several years ago as others made changes in their careers and HOMEFREE did not suffer any dropoff and the changes became natural and I simply enjoy this group, they have been my number one group I listen to by a landslide of nearly 90% of all I listen too. Love their music.❣

One of my favorite Bonnie Raitt songs gets the Home Free treatment. Perfection. Great way to introduce Bastien. Love it. And Adam Rupp's fabulous percussion. AND Gospel Rob. Woot! And they all look so happy in this one.

I think they have already decided that they are Adam, Chance, and Bastien. That way we can keep them apart. I love his voice. It is definitely different from Austin, but I think I can grow to love it too. He is bringing such a fun "bluesy" sound to Home Free...I love it. They sound great together... no surprise since they knew each other before, but still, nice

People need to realize he wasn't picked to replicate Austin . No one could do that. He was picked for the great things he can add. It definitely helps he has a history with them. This was definitely the perfect song for Bastien. He has an absolutely amazing voice. I have loved him for a long time. Did you by chance notice the signs? I love the one that said 2 Adam's 2 many. I always enjoy watching your reaction and analysis to their music.

This is very faithful to both the original and Bonnie Raitt's hit version. This is stealth Canadian content because it was written by Canadian country-folk singer-songwriter Shirley Eikhard. But as another commenter wrote, Bonnie's guitar made it into a hit for her. These guys need more airplay.
He ain't Austin Brown, but he gives new flavor and color to Home Free.. And I love it!

In this song 3rd time listening, I think Adam B is a perfect fit! Someone in comments said he has been around home free for a while, maybe before sing-off but I listened closely to him blending with the guys! I feel like that is a good fit as well! Jen, you are too young to remember Bonnie Rait's version of this. It was one of my absolute favorites back in the late 80's. You should look her up. I bet Rob doesn't have ro work quite as hard to match Bastein's tone. They are both a little more airy than Austin"s super bright forward tone. Both sounds are great, just a little different. I'm loving the new sound!
I love Austin's "I'm Not Supposed to Love You Anymore". This new HF song has always been a favorite of mine. It's from a movie w/ Julia Roberts.
The Adams go all by their last names now (though Chance's is actually his middle name but he uses as a professional last name).
Though, when you mentioned that you'll just use their full names I cracked up, because you always use Tim's full name.
According to Rob's comment on their video the song was actually suggested by Bastien. It was certainly the right choice as an introduction song.
I loved Bastien's lead, Tim's bass and Rupp's beatboxing in this one the most, but Rob and Chance were perfect on the backing vocals, too, of course.

I not only love the Home Free video, I absolutely love your reaction to this one! This really was a great intro for Bastien! I do really hope you react to Chance’s new original single. It’s been getting really great reviews and reactions to the two I’ve seen so far. As a singer yourself, I truly believe you’ll love it!

Adam Bastien isn't exactly new, it's more like he's back. He sang with Home Free in their early days, before Austin.
Bastien was part of the touring Home Free when the HF we know was on The Sing-Off. He later joined Chris Rupp for the group 7th Ave along with Kristin Rupp (sister) and Kelley Jakle. He also went under the name Adam Bell-Bastien for OneUp, aka OneUpDuo with his husband Jerome Bell-Bastien. So he's been part of the Home Free family for a long time.

I first heard this sung by Bonnie Raitt on her album "Luck of the Draw". I believe she premiered it. I love the concept in the lyrics and it's a catchy tune.

Love Home Free, have for a long time, they helped get many of us through the COVID period. Please oh Please lets not turn HF into a "Boy Band". This reminds me of that era.......
doing Bye, Bye, Bye didn't make them a boy band, doing End of the Road didn't make them a boy band, besides - I don't think HF can stick to one 'type' of music anyway.

As always, GREAT reaction, Jen...!! I have to be honest, I think AB is a very good fit for Home Free...BUT, it's going to take me a while to get used to it. Austin Brown is irreplaceable...and I know that AB is not trying to "replace" him, he's simply the new voice (and a very good one, I'll say again). It's not that I don't like having AB in Home Free...it's that I am still trying to come to grips with NOT having Austin in it anymore. He is a one-of-a-kind talent!! They're still my number one group to listen to, and I don't see that changing...but, I had to get that out anyway. Keep up the great work, Jen...always love your reactions and thoughts. You're the best...!!

Adam B sang with Home Free before Rob joined the group. More recently with Chris Rubb and 7th Avenue. He has been around and is a great fit for the new line up.
Adam Rupp is the last original member, so he gets to use his first name. Adam Chance Ray doesn't use his last name professionally, and Home Fries generally refer to him as "Chance." Adam Bell-Bastien is simply "Bastien."

According to their plan, that they told us on their last Europe tour last year.. Their plan is to come back to Europe next year. UK Is usually last on their tours, as they love the people there it seems =)

Great reaction, fun to watch! I was privileged to see Bastien along with Jerome and a full band of great musicians just last week (Aug. 7, 2024) at a concert in Michigan, totally separate from his new Home Free gig. I know firsthand that he has the power and smoothness in his voice to fit right in with Home Free. He also has high energy, dancing abilities, and a joyful vibe that is going to win over fans the more they see of him. I'm looking forward to what is coming in the future and to seeing your reactions/analysis. Gail L.

This was one my college jams when Bonnie Raitt released it, so I'm loving the cover. A Bastien (bas-TEEN) is such a good addition, bringing some new dimensions to the sound. Tim & Adam are still providing the Home Free underpinning, with Rob taking it low. I know that Chance didn't tee off (that was apparently Bastien), but he could. His range is almost there with Tim's these days.
I have felt that the Home Free sound was getting a bit stale for the last couple years. I adore the guys and love listening to them, but they needed to shake it up. Bastien has done that for them.

A great entrance for Bastien, but as if he had always been part of Home Free. The Home Free sound is just there. Especially if you listen to it with your headphones. Because even though the lead, harmonies, bass and beatboxing are so great, you still hear/recognize every member sound/voice in this song. The video is also fun, as if Home Free is in my living room where people are singing and laughing.
The high note was Bastien, not Chance. Chance was fooling around and they decided to leave it in the video.

Adam Bastien was a member way back when (before they appeared on The Sing Off), so is not totally new to the group.

Hi Jennifer, been watching your videos for a spell now, and enjoy your professional take on the singers you react to. I wondered if you would react to the Danish National girls choir(DR Pigekoret) sing some of the following songs. Magnum Mysterium by Lauridsen, Blackbird, River or Come out and Play. They have a very dedicated group of people around them that obviously bring out the best in these young voices in all levels of production, and I think that you might really like them. There are actually 4 age groups to their choirs, but i have just suggested you start with the seniors for now, thought they are all good. Give them a try, as i do not think you will be disappointed.
Good High Tenor ..... was going to be replacing Austin Brown in fall .... but, did not take to mid summer ! Hope he has the chops to cover the songs thus far by Austin - that will be the REGISTER he needs to ascend to ! God bless, jj

Seriously, though, the easy way to differentiate the Adams when talking about them is to just call them by their Last Name. So, Rupp, Chance, and Bastien. There, problem solved. 😁
