I saw them live in Manchester in 2016. The one band I promised myself I would see live back in the '90s, but then they split up. When they got back together I had to go see them. They rocked. All the songs from back in the day, plus new tracks (at the time), like Death for the Lovers. Awesome.
Can't believe nobody is talking about the video itself. The song is great but I specially liked the mini movie made for it, the girl realizing that the guys were gay and leaving in the end cause she knew one of them was madly in love for the other guy who didn't want to accept that he is gay. Amazing video. And the songs translate perfectly for that situation.
@Jadezgvrtk sad but true. It was the 90s, okay? I didn't have the ability to just look stuff up like that. I know this song from the cruel intentions soundtrack, which I used to listen to on a portable cd player. I didn't even know if it was a man or woman singing. I didn't care, either. The mystery and androgynous nature of the lyrics, the composition, this song made an impact on me as a teenager. Rediscovering it now, seeing Skin perform, it's even more beautiful.
Oh please, there are a lot of amazing voices out there. Not the same, of course (who needs copies?), but great in their own rights. Like, on my favourite playlist on my phone, you can find songs from the last 5-6 decades, from Nina Simone to Chasing Jonah (“Warpaint”)...
The nostalgia this brings is immense. Nostalgia for this kind of music, videos, attitude, aesthetic, life. The 90's. No mobile phones. No social media. Life lived for that moment not pre-planned, fake, needy. Natural beauty. Natural skies. No fake "crisis".....I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Then again, remember the early days of Techno? Scooter? Dr Alban? DJ Bobo? *cringe Not that I got anything about blue, short-sleeved latex overalls, but let’s just be aware of the fact that there’s never been a decade without any shit music and lots of cringe.
I was trying to sleep, but that simple immense solo came to my mind from the depths of my childhood memories and I just had to listen to this song. Over and over again.
I really like this video. It's like a cross between the films, Kids (1995), The Doom Generation (1995) and Drugstore Cowboy (1989). It's a really great song too.
I just heard of them from the strange days trailer.... shit.... her voice is pretty damn good! didn't even really watch the video because I didn't need to. I just needed to hear this.
I met my wife with this song in 2000, few years later we got married and this was our song...now our three kids are listening to it...and they love it...what an epic song...what a voice...
STILL LISTENING IN 2022!! Used to be my fave track when I was 16... NOW at 40.5yrs old I still freaking LOVE IT.. Who's here still listening to this timeless voice?? 🌟💟
Skunk Anansie were HUGE in Italy back then. I was surprised to read that ib the UK they are underrated! We love SA in Italy ❤❤❤ their songs were always at the top of the charts
Sometimes some musics come to my mind. This is one of those moments! How lucky are we living in these times where a click away, a thought becomes a favorite music? Much love brothers and sisters 🙏🏻
I'm listening this song so many times and every time it amazes me. The beautiful intro, the calm verse but when pre-chorus she sings with so much raw feeling and, oh God, the breathtaking chorus. The strings, the delicate guitar melody, great drumming and the voice of Deborah Dyer. And of course, the great production from Andy Wallace. I was just searching on TIDAL albums that Andy Wallace produced, and this song appeared on the list. Now it is one of my favorite songs of all.
they don't make music videos like they used to - such a worldly yet grounded image and so well represented in a mere late 90s video... what a time to have been alive! Still blows socks off in 2020 - I hope youth nowadays will come across this shit to learn of some real-life struggles!
One of the greatest tracks of the 90s! Still enjoying it. ❤ Skin's voice is so powerful, it's piercing through! She is still touring and rocking the stage 👍
Thanx for all the beautiful ,even if so f***ing nostalgic moments you gave me with your voice and musics… Skunk anansie were part of my teen years… I grow up and sometimes I come to listen some good old music just to remember how I was lucky to have lived those days… Concerts , people who loved to stay out of home till the sunrise , summers with fires on the beach , Winters with friends in the pubs ,drugs , alcohol and love for the ones you used to have in front of you … Che tempi ragazzi.. Viva la vita , sempre …
Heard this song for the first time at iDays in Milan, this year, and i fell completely in love with it, my mum said to me "where have you been in the past 20 years?" she damn right. Now i can't stop listening to them. Thanks to iDays for giving space to a fantastic band that seems to have been forgotten, but still lives and retains an authentic magic rare to find these days❤
Its 2021 and it was only a few moments ago I was buying this on cd single. Music was better back then, it had real messages. Real emotions. Music healed me...secretly
I heard about this song sometime last year and I thought this song was recently released. I was shocked to realize this song has been out for a while. She has such a powerful voice
It is amazing how Skunk Anansie managed to get 4 amazing singles(Charlie big Potato, Secretly, follow me down and Lately) all from the amazing album Post Orgasmic Chill. In those times a good enough band could easily do such a thing. Taday is all so rushed, fans and companies demand the new thing, an album is around for 2 months there is already people asking for a new one. There is not time to allow the music to maturate in our minds and ears like a good wine. From 2000 onwards the need to rush produciton seems even more evident
A guy and a girl are a couple, and a second guy is in love with the first, but can't be with him. Then at the end of the video, the three of them are sleeping in a motel bed and the second guy is awake, lying next to the couple. The girl gets up and starts to sneak out, and there's a moment where it seems like she knows the other guy is awake. She leaves, and her boyfriend rolls over in his sleep and puts his arm around the other guy. I don’t know why i love it so much.. but this song&video get me so sad and content at the same time. MASTERPIECE

I found this music a few months ago and I love it. Love that there is always music to discover from any time, its just feelings and feelings don't loose meaning.
Probably the most underrated female artist of the 90s.
They were (and remain) underrated only in the US. In Europe they were played everywhere and sold records like crazy.
Let me correct you.
The most underrated artist of the 90's.

Underrated? By who? You know, not many artists have any chance to sing in a duet with Luciano Pavarotti

One of the most powerful female voices ever! Why can't artists of today take a note from this one.
SKIN!!!!
Because they don't have any passion

‘99 was the limit, after...nothingness. But it’s ok, everything that happens already happened before
When I was a child, I would repeatedly listen to the ED of Cruel Intentions because this song is so amazing!
