Also how did Minsc get that old? The game is set around 100 years after the first and second ones. He is just a man. A strong one, but still a human man. Even Jaheira has white hair, is cranky and always makes jokes about her aching back and "being old and useless" and stuff, and she is an half-elf, probably 150 to 200 years old.
A lot of the questions about "how is this character alive?" in BG3 are answered by supplementary materials for 5th edition D&D. Baldur's Gate doesn't exist in isolation, it's part of the Forgotten Realms. Like Imoen is still around leading the Shadow Thieves, while Irenicus & Bodhi are back since they apparently made a pact with the Dark Powers to gain knowledge of how to steal power from the Tree of Life.

They became Petrified and turned into a statue placed in Baldur's Gate a 100 years ago. Due to that event they remained there until one day they became free from their petrification before events of Baldur's Gate 3 and had a journey that eventually lead them to be captured by Mindflayers. The story ends there which takes place not long before Baldur's Gate 3.
You know after hearing the voice a bit i think the voice sounds good but the writing could have been better to emphasize his essentricness in the old games
While I appreciate the touch of nostalgia with the old character I have a feeling I won't like this version of Minsc as much as loved the original. He just doesn't feel, seem or sound right for my memories of "Go for they eyes, Boo! GO FOR THE EYES! RAAASK!".

well the wizard did a sleet storm, while i did the "unstoppable bhaal assassin", big boy minsc was flat on its ass the 2 rounds that it took to end the assassins and the trader, used non lethal on minsc, bitched about me killing jaheira, and "the emperor, or governor" or whatever kept gpading me to kill it but but this mis minsc the hero of baldursgate 2, fine, jesus what a slapfest

all the legendery men and female characters tend to die, like forgive my french but was it zoltan? that was on the riot back at the grove, no hard feelings fro the developers, but the dude died in the attack on the grove, but still the quest remains "why would i look for someone who i have seen dead and looted its corpse"'
As soon as you find a voice actor who is equal to Jim Cummings, please let us plebs know. Matt Mercer can't quite hit the levels of ham Jim can, but he still felt like Minsc to me. Now if we're talking about the replacement for a certain villain from the first game... That one was a disappointment.

I havent got to here yet but from what I read you get a variant of Find Familiar just for Boo and he has 50 health and does decent damage
