The heat gun provides a much more even spread of heat and you can control it better. I did one the other day by removing the inner guard and just using a rag on my hand to reform the shape. The customer was stoked!

Good video, tip on removing that red paint transfer on the bumper. Use Goof off on a damp towel and wipe it off. You can apply wax or sealant after as that will remove any previously applied.

A win/win as far as I'm concerned! 👍 I watched my buddy (a body man of 16 years at the time) take a dent out of a plastic rear bumper of a 21st Century GM product with a heat gun. He got it nice and hot, then pushed it out with his hands. Took a bit of effort, but when it popped out, no waves or creases anywhere, aside from some of the paint that cracked. Looked 100x better than it did. Quicker than boiling water, too. I repeated what I saw on my neighbor's '06 Impala rear bumper. Just have to be careful not to get it TOO hot. Ivan is totally correct Toyota reliability. You only need few mm scokets to take the car about. My lexus ls430 has 306000 miles orginal engine. Original alternator and starter and transmission. Just regular maintenance. Replaced radiator at 250000 miles.
On the bumper job, got to think about access before you heat it, and avoid using pointy sticks to push out large dents. A gloved hand coming in from the wheel well or from under the car would have gotten you a more finished result. DY David gave you great advice on this. If allowed to set, sharp creases in plastic bumpers will break or craze the paint, or whatever finish is on those bumpers. You get an "A" for effort though. Remember to wax the bumper area that you scrubbed the paint marks from. And, last but not least - Thanks for verifying the Kilmer theory of automotive reliability.
I removed several indented bumpers and the best way if you don't want to remove the plastic cover and work it outside, will be using a heat gun in a low setting heat up the area and with a tennis ball massage it with pressure to the outside and if you need more precision like the small dimple that you end up with, use the end of the hammer or rubber mallet and work it out until is all back to the original shape kipping the area warm but not to hot that will damage the paint. after is set pour cold water to set the plastic back and use some rubbing compound to removed any transfer paint or reduce the visible scratches. If a crease was present will stay there doesn't matter what unless you sand and prep the bumper for repaint.
For about two years I was using some dielectric grease that was junk. Had a number of missfire comebacks. Big black carbon track on the side of the plug. I only use WD40. Just to make the wire push and click easier. Been doing that for 40 years. Never a carbon track.

Many of these Toyotas and Hondas with upstream AF ratio sensors actually do use the downstreams to a certain extent to help with fuel control. I've seen it.
A lot of cars with wideband upstream O2 sensors use the downstream O2 as part of the fuel control. I suspect the narrowband O2 helps to give a more accurate center point than the wideband on its own.
Oh and we finally have a set time frame for the SI meet. Pj, Steckler, Groff, Martino, and I are all heading up on Sat 7th, since the shop is in use Sat... sun, doing the training & development. IDK if you talked to Keith yet, and got updated. I'll shoot you a text tmrw during a reasonable hr. 👍👍

With a dead cat, those post o2s won't provide a perfect a/f ratio, but better than nothing, and yes, the heaters still need to work regardless. Separate issue. As far as the bumper cover goes, I use an industrial heat gun on them to slowly warm them up. The paint might still look bad, but at least you can pop the dent out. Works better than hot water on harder plastic non painted bumper covers, like a lot of the older base model Caravans used. You just gotta take your time.

Great fix on the bumper, it looks a hell of a lot better :-D Maybe if a towl was wrapped around the bumper the water would stay there for longer, soften the plastic for slightly longer perhaps? Just another one of my silly thoughts lol.
needed way more heat, say 500 watt halogen bulb or heat lamp somewhat close to the dent and heatgun from behind. get is fairly mushy hot without cooking the paint, then push it out by hand/fist wearing an couple oven mitts lol. I'd just drive it as is, to help keep other idiots at bay, they see dented broken things and stay further away :))
If you're seriously asking how much should be charged for that body work. I probably wouldn't charge anything if it's a regular customer. I took no parts and what 10-15 minutes? Also it would relive you from any issues with the customer saying they aren't satisfied if they are picky. May not be true with this customer but some might expect it to look brand new, or at least hard to tell where the damage was. It's not like the repair couldn't be dissolved in other repairs.
GM has been putting Denso alternators in some of their newer cars instead of AC Delco & they have been failing at low miles. I the past week & a half I seen one with 5,000 Miles & the other with 18,000 miles & the Denso alternators crapped out.

Don't rev up your engines cos Scotty's cat is asleep. Nice fix with the coil and sensors and bumper looks great. Hear of sensors being impossible to loosen but everything seemed ok.
In the bonus footage the problem with charging people for body work like that is that they will not be happy paying for it unless it is repaired well enough that you can't tell something happened in the first place. Imagine your wife having a little run in with a shopping cart ad wanting to get it fixed so that you don't get upset about the damage. There are only two sensors on a Toyota 4 cyl. One upstream a/f sensor and one downstream o2 sensor. A boxer 4 I can see having two banks but I could be wrong.
As for bumper. Remove the inner mud guard. And a hair dryer heat gun. Just use your hand from the inside.

great video Ivan, if you push the bumpers on from the edge of the dent and not the middle it works much easier than trying to push it all out at once.

The up stream senior is for adjusting the AF mixture. the downstream sensor is to measure the efficiency of your catalytic converter.
Many of these Toyotas and Hondas with upstream AF ratio sensors actually do use the downstreams to a certain extent to help with fuel control. I've seen it.

That's the rule of thumb, but there are always exceptions ;)
If it uses the downstream sensor for AF mixture, a bad CAT is sure to cause huge problems.

The 4cyl should only have bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 1 sensor 2 (after cat)

even 4 bangers have two banks cylinders 1and 4 bank 1 cylinder 2 and 3 bank 2 and 1 down stream called sensor 2 bank 1
There are only two sensors on a Toyota 4 cyl. One upstream a/f sensor and one downstream o2 sensor. A boxer 4 I can see having two banks but I could be wrong.
