There are hoof pressure washers that are mostly used for horses. They aren't as powerful as normal pressure washers and they probably wouldn't be as useful on cloven hooves anyway since they could cause irritation between the toes. Farriers do sometimes use them though when they want to clearly see what they are working with before trimming a damaged hoof and can be gentler than a stiff brush with the right setting.

I'm glad to know that animal welfare information from the UK is useful! I've worked a bit in agriculture on and off over the past few years and the lack of support from our government to the industry is appalling, with many of cow farms going out of business. I think the government take them for granted. So things like that, as you mentioned make me realise even more how important it is that our government should support us here in the UK, rather than letting businesses go under and the industry suffer.

For all of us lay-people when it comes to hoof maintenance (and you've probably explained this a thousand times so apologies in advance), how on earth do you know when you've cut too deep into the sensitive area? Obviously hooves are like nails on a human with no feeling, but using the human analogy, you eventually get to the quick when it starts to hurt/bleed. How deep is the quick on a cow hoof?
