I love that you stick with your opinion! I agree!! These speakers have their differences, and price is a big factor. Companies with relatively small competition seem to forget that, and it shows, it stops the competition, and I believe soundcore is bringing that competitive price back into the game.
Tribit stormbox blast. I am waiting on that one to come out. I was looking at the jbl boombox2 until I saw Flossy Carter's review on the stormbox. I agree, the jbl's are waaaay overpriced.
Yeah jbl's equipment is way over priced.. I collect jbl bt speakers idc for the small ones like the clip n go.. I collect the flip series charge series xtreme series and the boombox series only.. I'm pretty impressed with the new charge 5 that Lil speaker throws out serious sound for its size. The xtreme 3 isn't a big upgrade improvement over the xtreme 2 their damn close in sound n bass n honestly I think the xtreme 2 sounds better tbh. The two boom box's are close as well and so are the flip 5 n 6.. the only one that got a good upgrade improvement was the charge 5.... but as in terms of bass out put the boombox 2 is freaking awesome lmao it's crazy it sounds the way it does
IMO the Flip and Charge are somewhat worth their prices but overall yeah. The extreme and BoomBox are insanely overpriced. I have the Motion Boom and it blows away all of the JBLs, Sonys, Altec, Bose that I’ve tried.
@@kcmullins6179 totally agreed my friend especially about the charge 5!!! Thats my favorite series to collect, hell i need to make a vid comparisonwith all 5, I preordered boombox 3 and am paying full price(over 6 months) for the first time since it's new setup looks promising!
I really really love my motion plus for indoors I got it for about 35 usd refurb which is like the same price as a jbl go 3🤣 they dont even compare its so good if the eq is right. I’m thinking of buying the new mb+🤨. You are my favorite reviewer.
I don't know if anyone explained this to you, but peak is the maximum output in watts, (in this case, can be used for volts too). To get RMS, (Root, Mean, Squared). which is apparent power, multiply peak x .707 to get RMS. If 80 watts peak, that is 56.5 RMS. Good videos. Thanks!

Pls can anyone help me? I have a problem with my jbl xtreme 3 GG version, the buttons are not working only start up button works. I can press the buttons but they are not reacting. I already tried restarting and factory restarting nothing works bcs the buttons won t work. Also i can t turn off the speaker i can only turn it on and conect to my phone. I can only turn off my speaker by pressing start up button 8times times and hold it for 10 secs. The speaker plays music and videos normally without problems. PLS I NEED HELP
Hey man, this was what I needed. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom Plus as my next bluetooth speaker upgrade. Currently I've a JBL Flip 4. Although I'm really impressed with the sound quality of the Flip 4, I'm unfulfilled and wish it was more than what it is. Based on research the ASMBP seems to be all I'm missing when it comes to its price, performance and features‼
Thanks for the breakdown. I see different comparisons and even speakers that match up with the boom plus. At the same time, that price is tough to beat with the early promo code. Can't wait for mine to arrive.
The jbl boombox 2 only has 60w on battery and 80w plugged in, the 160w is amistake of the one who wrote it down, the power supply also has only a rating of 100watts ( look on the powerbrick of the boombox) which makes sense, 80w for music output and 20watts dor charging. And xtreme 3 only has 50w of power, 25w for both woofer and 25w for both tweeter. Its the same thing, the power brick has only 60w.
The Boombox 2 is an amazing speaker but it is not 160 Watts. That's only used on the US marketing and people think it may be a combination of the peak power handling of all the drivers. The Boom Box 2 is an 80 watts RMS speaker according to JBL engineers. Of course, the power ratings of speakers need to be taken with a grain of salt, always. The JBL destroys the Motion Boom Plus once you get over about 60% or so and I say that as someone who also owns both. The beauty of the boom Box 2 is that the sound never falls apart, no matter the genre of music or volume level. Besides not having as much deep bass of the Boom Box 2, it loses a ton of bass above 60% and then goes all the way to garbage after about 85%. It seems more "detailed" or "Crisp" to you because there is an ugly 6 Khz boost on the Soundcore and the Boom Box 2 intentionally has some recessed mids. But yeah, for a lot of people it's likely not worth paying that much more for the boombox 2. Also, the Motion Boom Plus is a LOT lighter thanks to the neodynium drivers.
I have two booms in an awesome and open TWS. They sound WONDERFUL, clear and crisp also in high frequencies with NO tweeters. Now, I am not sure to upgrade to the boom plus... I have read and seen about the peak in 6 KHz and the not so "HiFier" sound... two booms in TWS seems to be still the best option
@@solodanny2198 Not to impressed. I have two and it seemed louder when paired in Party Cast from TWS mode. Regardless they both going back. I have two of the jbl charge 5’s and i love them for essentially everything you said about them. This makes me wanna go out and buy the Motion Boom Plus... But I already got 2 of the original Motion Booms and they perform exceptionally well, especially when paired together!

Almost 4 years ago I bought the JBL Boombox, Extreme and Pulse speakers. Within weeks from each other all of the speakers batteries started to fail. The worst part is, even if you plug them in the speakers won't work! When in comes to buying JBL portable speakers I say NEVER AGAIN!!!
How strange. I had the Charge 3 for 5 years and is still with me, with no problems at all on the battery. Got the Xtreme3 some weeks ago and lasts for days. Maybe you're doing something wrong? Or just have too bad luck
Stop buying fake stuff, get yourself Genuine ones and you'll be ok for years...can't see that, what u saying doesn't make sense..3 speakers after weeks their battery are dead????? Why would people still buy those????
I'm using the Soundcore for over a year and a half now, best purchase I've ever made. I'm actually planning to buy a second one. BTW you can connect up to 100 devices that play mono, but if you sync only 2 they both play stereo.
New stuff honest question I'd love to get answered.. when you blast the boom us does the sound start to distort amd drop off at 80 percent or more volume. I just got mine last week and swear it's either defective or is just the way this speaker is. I listen mostly rock but up to 70 percent volume it's best speaker I e heard and easily smokes the jbls for sound but 80 percent or more amd the jbl do it too bit sou d goes to shit and I've eq every way possible in app. Please check this out man and lastly this stuff is what makes me appreciate the w king r9 then t9 then x10 then d10 those just get meaner as ya crank em up but man I'm bummed right now because a this
Yes, with the Motion Boom Plus I get a little distortion at max volume. This is JBL and Sony’s "SECRET" They don't allow FULL volume throttle the performance at higher volumes and that's why customers say they aren't loud enough. This way they can claim "Clean, Pro Sound." In the case of Soundcore, Tribit and other companies... they don't seem to care. They just give you max everything. That's why when you turn it up all the way it starts screaming at you.
I think that the W King T9 and D10 both sound good I sold my D10 to buy the Soundcore but the EQ for me allows it to be more flexible and you get what you get from the W King! Would be an awesome comparison though.
Being Soundcore is releasing newer bigger speakers they need to remake the rave speaker maybe even just a whole new speaker model to beat the competition in compact party speakers like the JBL partbox 110!
I love your videos!! not gonna lie I come for the vibe not the speakers lol. I must say both brands are good. The JBL sounds better as its factory sound is much more open and easy on your ear. However where loudness is concerned, the soundcore takes the cake all the way, so its on us to decide which is more important to us as we make a decision.
I would say JBL (especially "boombox" but also "extreme" by a smaller margin) sounds more full/rich overall even though clarity could be improved a little as NSTV also pointed out in the video. If that full sound is worth 2-3 times the price is up for everyone to decide depending on personal taste. Would like to see soundcores sound engineering improving to a point where they can make like a 250-300$ speaker that can really beat JBL and other popular highend brands in every way (having that richness + the clarity JBL is lacking), so that there is pressure to compete for a reasonable price again. Sadly high end brands' marketing strategies do not revolve around having the best product, but about the prestige and statussymbol, but if they are outclassed in any way by the market, their image might crumble so that they have to push for innovations.
Great review and I hear what you mean. Anker is definitely doing sound right. I have a UE Megaboom but it can't compare to either. BTW, vs = versus. Keep up the amazing work.
It's about longevity though so JBL will take that L. My partner had the soundcore & the first drop and he said it shattered like glass. He said it's definitely worth the bang for your book best on the market but you got to be delicate with it 🤷🏾♂️ Now I go hiking, camping, on boats and I had a cheaper JBL and that thing's lasted me for 6 years no problems and fell down the mountain still good 💪🏾
Hello there! now yes i am a jbl fanboy or whatever you want to call it. i just want to bring in a slight correction about the jbl speakers. xtreme 3 = 100 wats and boombox 2 - 160 wats. Now as far as i understand those wattages ONLY aply when the speaker is plugged in both charging and jacked - now that might be wrong so dont quote me it might be only when its charging without being jacked in, but that is as far as im informed. as an owner of a xtreme 3 i can confess raw power output max volume just bluethoth the power is 60 wats NOT a 100 wats not 80 wats but a 60 watt raw output on max volume. Still its pretty nice to see all of them compared, keep doing your thing man!
I will say, that in the JBL app, which is free, once you connect the JBL app on the phone to the speaker, you have an option to adapt the EQ on on the newer speakers.
Tbh both are not perfect here I'm talking about the BB2 and Boom+. While the BB2 has a deeper and more rumbly type bass. The bass on Boom+ is kinda punchy and its boosted more towards the upper bass. Yes it has some clarity but at the same time the highs are too harsh and its unlistenable for me. The BB2 on the other hand has a slightly warmer sound even though both have a similar V-shpaed tuning.
I did see the Gamesky review of the SoundCore unit. He mentioned a software update which made a big difference. Did you get that? Otherwise the JBL is bound to sound better, in part because of it's weight lifting potential. I could see you picking it up - and that thing is HEAVY.
I updated mine as soon as I connected it, so I don't know what it sounded like before. But you're right, the Boombox is HEAVY and in a completely different class.
These boomboxes are so tame compared to what was available during the 80s. Boomboxes during the 80s was about extremes not convenience because people loved their music. So long as there is a shoulder strap, I think they are underestimating what size boomboxes people will carry. Boomboxes during the 80s were also a fashion accessory
Rms is the inportant number , pmp or peak music power refers to how high in terms of volume the speaker can reach but not continually. Rms gives you the stable frequency that the unit can output. Wihout distortion or risk of damage to the speaker membrane. 30watt for exmaple is nore than enough for a mobile speaker
Great review bro I'm in the market to buy a new Bluetooth speaker... Any chance you could do a review between these two speakers, cuz those are what I have my eye on. Soundcore Motion Boom+ vs W-King D10
I bought the motion boom plus and I'm thinking about returning it. The heat trapped in the speaker is making the bass passive radiator swell outwards and leaves no room for the radiators to flex and it's already showing damage on the corners. Very disappointed. I was wondering if you are experiencing the same on your end with your testing.
@@lucabertolaso2167 I have two booms in an awesome and open TWS. They sound WONDERFUL, clear and crisp also in high frequencies with NO tweeters. Now, I am not sure to upgrade to the boom plus... @@FrancisTernero1 Problem is the bigger the main drivers the more more need is there for tweeters. Imagine a Subwoofer trying to play all frequencys. Besides, Anker did manage to keep their tweeters under control on the motion+. I don't know what they have done here.
It doesn’t make any sense…. Obviously these people have no idea how speakers work In fact ideally 3 way design is what you’d want with highs, mids & lows going to their respective drivers But that design does tend to be more expensive
Love your review, you made me laugh. I just bought the sound boom for 72e after my Jbl flip essential speaker blew and became distorted. Lasted me 6 years and used it most days so I think I got my money's worth 😂❤
You need to get a volume meter and volume match when making comparisons like this. Putting both at the same percentage in individual apps does not mean that they’re putting out at the same volume. It’s much more involved than that. You’ve got to take speaker efficiency into account. Some speakers actually require less wattage to reach a certain volume level.
Anker is one of those youre not afraid get scratched up. Gets dirty or wet.. its the perfect travel speaker. I got a soundcore i throw in the suitcase for the hotel or bring into the kitchen when im cooking or for music in the shower. The design is simple and cheap. But the sound can compete with even the best. Plus the battery life is great!
Honestly, soundcore is killing it right now with their insane bang for the buck.. I have both the motion+ and the motion boom+.. you spend 100 bucks on the motion+ and get a speaker that competes favorably against things costing 3 or 4X as much.. and the motion boom+ is in a league of its own with how loud and crisp it sounds for a speaker under 200 bucks.. JBL is good, but not as efficient for the price.
JBL have been around since the 60s, known as Altec Lansing. JBL build and sound quality is amazing. That's why their $499. If you want a speaker to last you for years you buy Bose or JBL for compact speakers. Other companies just put something together as fast as possible leaving good sound and build quality behind. So you can have the $179.00 cheaply made boom box with the distorted highs, or you can have equal sound with smooth bass and mids with the JBL and have it for years without the worries of a cheaply made speaker. Also Harmon kardon make a great carry around speaker that sounds amazing, but again you pay for quality sound.
@@pixelreflectorpro It sounds aweful the highs are not crisp and the bass is flat. I use to sell high end home theater systems that cost anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000 . You don't know what good sound is. Maybe to you that cheap boom box sounds good, but bose and JBL sound 10 times better.
I have the motion boom as soon as I can I'm getting motion boom plus. I love it I play it everywhere and best part is the bass, completely satisfied and I have 4k watts rms subs in the trunk. Broke my front window so real 4k hair trick ap quad stacks 2
Best pick for me is Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. Why? Because I always have a walk with my Dog and I bring a Speaker with me. Soundcore MB+ is light while most of it's direct competitors like JBL, Tribit, W King and others are too heavy. And not only that it has a good price not too expensive.
nice video:) i alway knew soundcore is no joke.My motion boom is still awesome, but i will buy the + once available with the 30euro dicount i got bc of poreordering. for me personally jbl is too expensive and lackluster
This is pretty honest review. No L here not a fan boy but I do love both JBL and Soundcore even my tribit Storm. Wish all three could pair a Sub woofer to even brand and add the super low lo's. Great video
I have listened to both Bluetooth speakers and they both sound good. I have the JBL extreme 2 and 3 both Sound good I use to EQ App on them makes a lot of difference on the bass and treble.
@@NewStuffTV1 thank you for that reply man!!!!! Greatly appreciated!!!!!!
How are you playing both speakers at the same time?
Is there any chance you can share your preferred EQ settings for the boom plus please?
what are you using to play 2 diffrent speakers at once?
Could you please share a good EQ for rap/hip hop music for the Boom Plus? I am on firmware 0.39.
Did you ever find a good eq if so plz dend
@@Creakytomcat333 I am using the one from Allan Ross for now. I haven't found anything yet specifically for rap/hip hop.
@@djangofat4768 same i use Alan Ross’s sounds good feel like there’s a better one out there for rap though
Also can you please review the Stormbox Blast?
Good stuff brother u helped me make my decision 👍
Did you update your Jbl speakers because they added eq to some
Yes, it's only a 3 band eq and it doesn't really provide much better sound.
The motion boom plus is 80w. 30 watts for each woofer and 10 watts for each tweeter.
An absolutely great review mate. :)
Great review and I hear what you mean. Anker is definitely doing sound right. I have a UE Megaboom but it can't compare to either. BTW, vs = versus. Keep up the amazing work.
That MegaBoom is in an elite league.
Well i like jbl boombox 2 because of its sound and the build quality.
Would u buy the the jbl boombox 2 for 300 ?? I just saw it on a sale
Absolutely YES! That's how much I fell it should cost in the 1st place. Lol!
Great review., Very entertaining. Please do a video of Tronsmart Bang Vs Tronsmart force max.
Nice video man, thanks. I'm gonna go get me a Motion Boom Plus
great review, thanks! greetings from Amsterdam. Got the SC MB and it is great.
It's about longevity though so JBL will take that L.
My partner had the soundcore & the first drop and he said it shattered like glass.
He said it's definitely worth the bang for your book best on the market but you got to be delicate with it 🤷🏾♂️
Now I go hiking, camping, on boats and I had a cheaper JBL and that thing's lasted me for 6 years no problems and fell down the mountain still good 💪🏾
how do you pair both speakers at the same time?
How long does the battery last on the other one?
Still its pretty nice to see all of them compared, keep doing your thing man!
also i would like to see a video where you compare the xtreme 3 with '' safety off'' to Motion boom that would be nice!
Sick video! Just want to throw it out there that the JBL Boombox 2 is 60 watts RMS on the battery, and 80 watts RMS with the AC adapter.
Thanks man. I love your common Sense review.
Great review bro I'm in the market to buy a new Bluetooth speaker... Any chance you could do a review between these two speakers, cuz those are what I have my eye on.
Soundcore Motion Boom+ vs W-King D10
i discovered the SMB+ in your video thank to you men! 😁Otherwise i would have bought the jbl ex3 🙄
can we see the motion plus vs altec rockbox
I bought the motion boom plus and I'm thinking about returning it. The heat trapped in the speaker is making the bass passive radiator swell outwards and leaves no room for the radiators to flex and it's already showing damage on the corners. Very disappointed. I was wondering if you are experiencing the same on your end with your testing.
How that happened? Did you leave it in sun whole day and it fried itself?
@@cr0wN_ No, it’s a known issue with the speaker. Take a look at this video explaining and showing the issue.

@@WindiCityG Oh, thanks a lot. I was actually considering getting this but seems like they are working on fixes so i guess i just wait till its sorted
The Motion Boom Plus would probably have been better without the tweeters. Just like it's littlebrother!
How would that make sense? Tweeters are what produce high notes which is why the first motion boom and the jbl extreme sound muffled.
@@Thelounge3k cheap Chinese tweeters + cheap crossover =ugly high frequencies, motion boom with eq sound better than the plus
@@lucabertolaso2167 I have two booms in an awesome and open TWS. They sound WONDERFUL, clear and crisp also in high frequencies with NO tweeters. Now, I am not sure to upgrade to the boom plus... I have read and seen about the peak in 6 KHz and the not so "HiFier" sound... two booms in TWS seems to be still the best option
Obviously these people have no idea how speakers work
In fact ideally 3 way design is what you’d want with highs, mids & lows going to their respective drivers
But that design does tend to be more expensive
Do any of these have an optical port?
No, but for $380 to $500 they SHOULD!
@@NewStuffTV1 thnx Leatherneck
Love your review, you made me laugh. I just bought the sound boom for 72e after my Jbl flip essential speaker blew and became distorted. Lasted me 6 years and used it most days so I think I got my money's worth 😂❤
Glad you're little content and that new speaker!
You need to get a volume meter and volume match when making comparisons like this. Putting both at the same percentage in individual apps does not mean that they’re putting out at the same volume. It’s much more involved than that.
You’ve got to take speaker efficiency into account. Some speakers actually require less wattage to reach a certain volume level.
is this speaker floating? > Sonos ROAM
U killed this vid. Each def has their advantages and disadvantages but pound for pound theres no argument Soundcore is just better.
Not the case anymore
And mifa & tribit make cheap speakers That are great
@@pixelreflectorpro
You get what you pay for. Go cheap
@@ParrotHead1980 and with the tribit stormbox blast you're getting better sound than the boombox 2 and a 10band eq and more only for $200
@@pixelreflectorpro
It sounds aweful the highs are not crisp and the bass is flat. I use to sell high end home theater systems that cost anywhere from $5,000 to $25,000 . You don't know what good sound is. Maybe to you that cheap boom box sounds good, but bose and JBL sound 10 times better.
Boombox is 60w on battery and 80w plugged in, idk where you got the 160w, maybe because its rms? Idk.
You get a sub from me for this excellent review. I know what my next speaker is!
I have the motion boom as soon as I can I'm getting motion boom plus. I love it I play it everywhere and best part is the bass, completely satisfied and I have 4k watts rms subs in the trunk. Broke my front window so real 4k hair trick ap quad stacks 2
Once again, great review. : )
Best pick for me is Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. Why? Because I always have a walk with my Dog and I bring a Speaker with me. Soundcore MB+ is light while most of it's direct competitors like JBL, Tribit, W King and others are too heavy. And not only that it has a good price not too expensive.
nice video:) i alway knew soundcore is no joke.My motion boom is still awesome, but i will buy the + once available with the 30euro dicount i got bc of poreordering.
for me personally jbl is too expensive and lackluster
well which one is louder cause that matters too
Bang for the buck, I can agree with you. However, the Boombox sounds better. I have 2 BB1's
This is pretty honest review. No L here not a fan boy but I do love both JBL and Soundcore even my tribit Storm. Wish all three could pair a Sub woofer to even brand and add the super low lo's. Great video
The last comparison I dont get it, the soundcore sounded harsh as hell.
Soundcore is killing it...ngl
I wanna see the monster blaster 3.0 vs the JBL boombox 2. 4 full range, 2 passive, and a woofer. Still less than the JBL somehow!?
i like your vid bro, mad comparison
I have listened to both
Bluetooth speakers and they both sound good. I have the JBL extreme 2 and 3 both
Sound good I use to EQ
App on them makes a lot of difference on the bass and treble. I have enjoyed watching this video. I am from UK England first time watching your video
Big thumbs up from me keep up the good
