Disassembling a Ford Essex engine

In this video we disassemble a 1986 Ford 3.0l Essex engine (including Intake Manifold, Heads, Lifters Pistons, Crankshaft etc... )
After overheating a "piston slap" could be heard on piston 6 b upon stripping the damage is a lot worse as all the pistons had a lot of wear including the crankshaft.

This was a darn good engine. Simple and time tested design. Not all this overhead cams and chains running everywhere.

Power everywhere , never ending torque from tick over to redline and a sound to die 4 - a seminal engine for sure - the 2.8 cologne wasn’t a patch on the 3.0 Essex imho.
