This song really defines the game. You're a one man army fighting off an endless horde of Taken and when you think you're all alone, the light is there to help you.
The only official word on Alan Wake 2 has come from the creator himself 'when the time is right.' Remedy is busy with Quantum Break right now which is highly ambitious and still doesn't have a set release date. It's possible that game doesn't come out until 2016. If that happens you can forget about Alan Wake 2 until at least 2019. It sucks, I wish it would happen sooner too but the first game didn't sell the way MS would've liked it to, so the series has been shelved for now in favor of something else. At least the new game seems awesome.
While The Last of Us is cited as a game-changer for storytelling in games there are a select few of us that know the truth Alan Wake deserves that crown
"And here’s a new song from a band that -- they always remind me of our local rock legends, the Old Gods. I couldn’t tell you why, I guess it’s just -- you know, one of those things. Anyway, here’s Poets of the Fall and their latest single, “War""
I didn't know who "Poets of the Fall" were until Alan Wake featured them as "The Old Gods of Asgard". I'm glad I know about them now! They're an amazing band!
I literally got better with Alan's aim as this song got more badass. I remember as the chorus swelled and I capped 4 Taken one after the other with the last shots in my clip.
Poets of The Fall have amazing range. They can do songs like this, they can do metal as "Old Gods of Asgard", and even COUNTRY, like you hear in Grinder's Blues from the game Rochard. I feel like these guys don't get nearly enough credit.
I just played through the game. The moment when you're in this huge garage fighting taken and this song plays on the radio you turned on.One of the best moments in gaming i ever had, i hope Remedy makes a second one.

I can take a plethora of amazing quotes that are said in Alan Wake or previous Remedy games like Max Payne that tie into how great the story is. Poets of the fall is an amazing band, just realized that they have even sang that credits song from max payne 2 'late goodbye' seems like remedy knows how to pick good music. :D
Actually, a fun fact though. The lead singer Marko Saaresto was the Vladimir Lem in the first Max Payne, and the band was officially formed around Max Payne 2 with "Late Goodbye" as their debut song. Poets of the Fall and Remedy Games definitely have a connection, apart from both being Finnish by origin!
Another beautiful song from a gorgeous game. This together with Poet and the Muse are the best songs in the game, and one of the best music in the video gaming world.
I miss playing this the 1st time. I couldn’t stop and played for 12hrs without one stop and I beat it in one sitting. I then had a lucid nightmare of a situation similar to this game later when I finally slept. LOL that was one crazy day. I miss being a teenager.
@JNMasterMind We are working on a music video! Terms like "mainstream" or "not mainstream" don't really mean much to us. We just make music that feels good to us, and this song is exactly how we wanted it to be.
2021 here, hard times, but this song is still with me and today I dedicated it to my lover. Thank you for this masterpiece and for your unforgettable combo with Alan Wake ❤
Thanks for making this Song. I recently started playing Alan Wake Remastered, almost done, again. Like 10 Years after playing the Original Game, still a banger of a Song and an Awesome Game.
I loved this on the radio using flares an fighting the taken it really blended in love it and at the end of the episode didn't skip any of the songs at end of ep this my favourite
I remember hearing this song for the first time when I almost finished the game and it felt like such a culminating song after going through Alan's journey through the dark ;'))
I think the reason this game got such bad reviews is it doesn't fit what everyone want. They all want online Multiplayer and new features, weapons and shit. To me its about the Story. This game was good but it was hated by so many. Yes it wasn't an FPS, Yes it had no Multiplayer, yes it lacked a load out of weapons and stuff but who cares? ITS ABOUT The Emotional Impact on it. The Story of a man who's life and marriage is falling apart that ends up screwing up and then doing everything he can to save himself and his wife. To do the right thing that is a true Story. The impact it had to see her rise from the lake with no sign of Alan was crushing to know he was still under there with the witch. To know he was willing and may have given his life to save his wife. As an Ex solider I know how that feels. To be willing to give your life for another. Just like Hitman Absolution everyone hated it because it wasn't like the Classics what they refuse to realize is a real gamer looks at it for what it was. I like Absolution the best and Alan Wake too. Absolution fit the Story of a killing Machine who is leaving behind what he was made to do to save a young girl because he knew what she was going through in a lab with men experimenting on her that no one should have to go through that again like he did as a kid but no "I wasn't like the other ones so it sucked" WRONG! A true gamer would see it for what it was intended not for what everyone else wants. The people who hated those games are wrong and need to look at it like real gamers. The people who gave those games bad reviews are wrong!
Honestly, I loved the game since the beginning. The plot was awesome, the game was scary and entertaining. I was so bored of shooting in there, I just wanted to see the story. But then it got so complicated without any proper ending in the main game, than it got couple of DLC´s and I was pissed as hell... Where the hell was the awesome story telling from first and second Max Payne? I´d love to read this game as a book, but without any aditional DLC chapters just as one long complete story (which is awesome by the way)
Petr Říha I agree people need to look more toward the story telling. Yes this game had some problems and the ending was a little disappointing just like Max Payne 3 I loved that for its story and game play but the ending was a little disappointing although watching Becker get his ass blown sky high was good served him and the UFE right. But I see your point on it making a better book than game. It was an ambitious take on games and a new way of doing things some games like that do well like Heavy Rain it did very well for being an emotional story driven plot. It would make a better movie but as for a game with choices that effect the whole story it was really good.
Haha thats really awesome, too bad most kids think of call of duty as "next gen" or as having advanced graphics, when it actually runs on a modded Quake engine from early 2000 :-(
Just finished the game, my favorite moment of it all was finding the radio playing this while fighting off some dark ghouls lol. I even recorded it with the xbox game dvr
I heard the song before playing Alan Wake, (and was stoked that it was on Alan Wake) the song itself is beautiful! never found a band that could move me with their lyrics or bring tears to my eyes, so yeah, hits me that deep everytime.
Today I walked through a woodcutters' clearing in a forest and there was some timber lying around, a small bulldozer, and it was somewhat desolate, so it immediately reminded me of Alan Wake.
MY FAV PART !!!!!! Literally was so scared of the game until i got to this part. but as Alan Wake, i am the only one who can do this. So i moved forward and loved this game
When I heard this song pop on on the radio in Alan wake, I found myself thinking "man...I wish there was a fight right now to go with the song..." ...And then out of nowhere...Taken. Everywhere. And the fight was glorious.
Agreed. The ending just feels rushed and anti-climatic, probably for a reason. Still, it was a hell of a trip. The sequel should focus on Alice and Barry's returning to Bright Falls in an attempt to find him.
Love this game! Story was nice and all the forest.. Best to play in surround ;-) The ending was short in a way, but ok. But if it came a sequel, that's thrilling! :-)
The world is ending. You are lucky if you hit a deer on your way to work. That is what this song makes me feel like. Shouldn't be listening to it when driving to work early in the morning... ;)
Just completed Alan Wake on PC... It's "the" game that makes you think you had Xbox 360 and played it when It came out. Man... I had no Idea what I was missing. Loved it, truly one of those games that deserve to remain in your PC forever as well as in your top shelf, tagged as "favorite". Hopefully, Remedy won't take too long to release American Nightmare on PC. It deserves every penny... Top notch game.
What made this game's story great was how it wasn't just told through the cutscenes. The gameplay mechanics and timing reinforced the tone. Working a generator to get a light going, with the Taken barring down on you felt like something out of a horror novel.
i dont understand, how, many people, many, many, many, in fact, had poets brought to their attention by Alan Wake, yet, this song has less views than many other songs by poets?! ah well, this song rocks, as well as virtually every other song by them, havent heard one song yet which i truly dont like, many great songs, this really is TRUE GREAT MUSIC!!! :D
When I found it on the radio, the battle you see just ahead of it actually works FANTASTICLY with the song, which is good, since they bothered ot make the radio a bit louder there so it actually echos around the room.
I grew up listening to rap music and although I never disrespected any other type of music I never dipped my ears in anything else. After playing the fantastic game that is Alan Wake and beating each episode I got to listen to a amazing soundtrack and so I want to say thanks to Remedy for not only making this BRILLIANT game but also for introducing me to songs I would never have heard of or listened to before. :-)
I FIGURED OUT WHAT THIS SONG'S MEANING IS (Please don't hate if you did too) When I thought that I fought this war alone (Alan Wake), you were there by my side on the frontline (Most other characters) When I thought that I fought without a cause (Alan before he met the first person who knew what was going on), You gave me the reason to try (when chracters give hints to Alan) Also: Turn the page, I need to see something new (Alan finding the manuscript pages)
When I found this song, (literally as I type this I JUST FOUND THIS SONG) I stopped everything and just listened. The song is halfway done and oh my god immediately looked it up.
First of all, I wrote lyrics as they are written on the CD booklet. The line is also written as such on the band's website. Also, "Cos" is just an alternative form of "Cause". So meaning is the same.
Alan Wake was amazing. I actually was a little scared to leave light areas. I never get scared! This game was totally immersive; the characters were given so much life! Towards the end, I could totally feel Alan's frustration and exhaustion. "It's not a lake. It's an ocean." Alan Wake was the best game I ever played, bar none.
Sitting here right now with goosebumps all over my body, just completed Alan Wake. Awesome song and an awesome game. Love to Remedy and Poets of the Fall.
One of my top five video game moments of all time. For me, it's actually close behind the rock concert in this game. God damn, this was a good fucking game. Anybody that hasn't played this game: eventually, you're going to come across a room. This room has a radio. Turn the radio on, and you're in for one of the biggest fights of the entire game. Enjoy it - the music fits better than any soundtrack placement in any game in video game history.
Me too. I'm really glad I bought it and actually took the time to install and play it (something I don't do with most games I buy). Was an amazing experience
Played Alan Wake on day 1 released and loved it, I bought it again a few days ago and I still love it. True it's shocking when he kicks a door apart and the camera can get weird but it has one of the darkest and most drawing stories ever. I hope they make a second.
this game is perfect to me, this is the only game i played that at the end i just sat there and felt satisfied, it is the only game where i felt like they did everything right.
yeah, i totally agree with you and thank you for talling me why the game wasnt delayed a couple months. i do hope that the sequel will gain the respect i belive it will be worth
I agree but what you have to remember is American Nightmare was a standalone DLC and it was only ment to show what happened afterwards as well as adding some fun to the first game, it was basically made so you could have a survival fun mode.
I love this game. i am on my second playthrough on nightmare right now and it still is as exciting as the first time going through. On of the best Xbox 360 exclusives!
@Jatycre There are 2 books. On the collectors edition there is a book 90 pages long and doesn't amount too much(some interviews with some of the characters done by nightingale and some other things, the research being done by clay steward) and there is the novel by Rick Burroughs that follows closely the game story.
One of the many, many parts of Alan Wake i loved. I did not want to leave that radio after i switched it on, even tho the hordes of Taken were swarming the building. Great times, great times...
This song really defines the game.
You're a one man army fighting off an endless horde of Taken and when you think you're all alone, the light is there to help you.
and Barry, The Sheriff and the Light Lady

I grew up listening to rap music and although I never disrespected any other type of music I never dipped my ears in anything else. After playing the fantastic game that is Alan Wake and beating each episode I got to listen to a amazing soundtrack and so I want to say thanks to Remedy for not only making this BRILLIANT game but also for introducing me to songs I would never have heard of or listened to before. :-)
This song still gives me goosebumps, the warehouse where it plays and the concert are my favorites.
Remedy's games is the reason why it got me into poets of the fall
When I found this song, (literally as I type this I JUST FOUND THIS SONG) I stopped everything and just listened. The song is halfway done and oh my god immediately looked it up.
First of all, I wrote lyrics as they are written on the CD booklet. The line is also written as such on the band's website. Also, "Cos" is just an alternative form of "Cause". So meaning is the same.
I'm finally on summer break.
FIRING THIS GAME UP AGAIN. WHOO!
Give us a sequel!!
Alan Wake 2 This Fall Let's Gooooo
Alan Wake was amazing. I actually was a little scared to leave light areas. I never get scared! This game was totally immersive; the characters were given so much life! Towards the end, I could totally feel Alan's frustration and exhaustion. "It's not a lake. It's an ocean."
Alan Wake was the best game I ever played, bar none.
this game was amazing. one of the only games you will find these days that hasnt already been done already
this game is legend amongst the great game of all time
3:04 don't mind me, just marking one of the most uplifting motivational music scores ever
Was an amazing experience
happiest time of my life playing this game back in 2010 when i was high school.....
Played Alan Wake on day 1 released and loved it, I bought it again a few days ago and I still love it. True it's shocking when he kicks a door apart and the camera can get weird but it has one of the darkest and most drawing stories ever. I hope they make a second.
after i heard this song in the game, i couldn't stop listening to it, Alan Wake rocks, and so does the music!
im sure a dual core would run it ok, im playing it on top settings, 1680 x 1050, and radeon 6950 2gb, phenom quad core with no issues at all
I'm so happy that this game got remastered and outside of the 360 this is my all time favorite game I just wish alan finally get out 😢
Awesome doesn't even describe the experience I had playing this game.
man, when i played this game, i never heard of these bands before, but now im in love with all of them, but this is the main song that i just love ! ♥
sehr schöner Soundtrack auf den mich hier mein Sohn aufmerksam gemacht hat.echt schön.
this game is perfect to me, this is the only game i played that at the end i just sat there and felt satisfied, it is the only game where i felt like they did everything right.
yeah, i totally agree with you and thank you for talling me why the game wasnt delayed a couple months. i do hope that the sequel will gain the respect i belive it will be worth
I finally %100 this game last week. I bought it a month ago, and it was so good that I promised myself I would completely finish it.
