I had a woman try to convince me that a dead guy she was not married to was the father of her baby, so that her baby could get Social Security. Fortunately, he could not be added because he was not alive to sign the gift certificate. If it was that easy everyone would be picking their baby's daddy out of the obituaries. She filed a grievance against me with the hospital, but the law was clearly on my side. The bottom line is, you and your baby have more legal rights if you get married before you get pregnant.

@@GypsyGirl317 Not to mention the child support bullet! It's INSANE what they make parents pay. Even where I am. I've had a couple friends go through the whole system and they have had to get a second full time job just so that they can pay their own bills as well as pay their legal obligations. Meanwhile the parent receiving all that money is living it up and bragging about it.
I wouldnt mind so much if a certain amount (say half) of any child support had to go in a trust fund for the child's future/college/business startup but I have seen far too often the parent getting the money spending most of it on themselves.
