If this actually happened the Cold War would definitely be longer and the west would be well.. annoyed. Russia probably would have gone down to the Middle East and taken that and expanding influence in Africa the Warsaw Pact would change like NATO’s course and I think the Soviets would win. What do you think?
@@14xvadoptme prob like Russia's and China's relations, they are just together because of their common enemy, but they would be enemies if the USA didn't have as much power
There likely won’t be a war between the Warsaw Pact and nato but there would probably be proxy wars in Africa where the soviets are bound to gain influence in
That's it. You're genius! If the Soviets just gave up Kaliningrad then the Germans would be less mad. Thus one of the most powerful nations in the world wouldn't have bad relations with the Soviets and so the Soviets don't collapse as they aren't pressured into invading Afghanistan
my theory is the reason to soviet union doesn’t collapse here is because Gorbachev doesn’t go into power and also OGAS is adopted, and the US doesn’t fund rebels in Afghanistan
1964, when Brezhnev took power, that's when it slowly started to collapse due to the Brezhnev doctrine and the Brezhnev stagnation, when the econmy stagnated until like 1985, then Gorbachev tried saving the econmy but it was already too late.
I think you should go for it I like the idea of a series when you did that video of one of civilization research also like the alternative future singers I think you can finish it and then start the new serious but you should make your passion project thing I think it’s a good idea keep up the good work
Just know, if you really don't want to do geography videos that much anymore, then you can do whatever you like, don't let people control your content, do what you love.
This is mostly incorrect. The USSR wasn’t doomed from the start and Infact there were MANY things that could have been done to prevent the collapse. Not only that but this Western fixation and obsession on war…Most likely the USSR and China would become huge allies in things like the BRI and working to gain much more influence in Africa and Central Asia. African and Central Asian Countries becoming allied with China and the USSR would protect them from America. Turning the two power houses into Countries you go to prevent the US from coming in. Something many Countries would love nowadays especially places like Iraq. I also see China and the USSR still creating a sort of BRICS to de-dollarize most of the World to get them on Soviet and Chinese money heavily impacting what America can do when it comes to sanctions. Only now with the USSR intact the path towards eliminating the dominance of the IMF and the US Dollar would probably be much easier to accomplish. It wouldn’t be just some alliance anymore it would be a economic Red Wall for the West..

Believe it or not the USSR was a day away from existing into the modern day. Long story short an agreement was made to see the Soviet Union continue to exist but under a different constitution and slightly different system called the New Union Treaty but a day before the official ceremonial signing was due to take place (it had already been agreed but not officially) the August Coup took place. A single day longer before the coup took place and the Soviet Union would have continued although in a slightly different form. You can find lots of information about the new union treaty and august coup online if your interested both are quite well documented
I love this channel but I obviously have a different set of political views than most people here. Let’s just get a few facts straight here 1. The downfall of the Soviet Union was due to a series of external factors and pressures from the west. Although the 1970-1990s there were many issues internally between Trotsky gaining more influence and Gorbachev leading the Soviet economy into the ground, its an undeniable fact that the Cold War and the policies of McCarthyism destroyed the successful and effective vision of the Soviet Union. 2. Preventing the Bolshevik revolution would be the worst thing anyone could do for the history of the soviet nations. The Russian Tzar was a corruptive feudal system which was bound to be destroyed eventually but would have dramatically changed the course of world war history. Tzar Nicholas was a far greater oppressor and mass murder than any Russian leader. 3. The time between the 1930 to 1950 was a prosperous period of the Soviet Union. It was in this time we saw great social progress, unemployment rates lower than 1%, universal healthcare and education for all working class members, rapid industrialization and modern innovation, great agricultural collectivization and mass production. 4. I’m not here to debate death tolls and claims of atrocities by Stalin. It hypocritical to target any world leader for mass atrocities, most of them are guilty for such crimes and also the records of deaths are propagated and has again and again been denounced by the accusers. 5. Most if not all Soviet civilians of the 1930-1950s experience a society where the working class and proletariat had a say in government decisions, a state where the idea of poverty and disparity was unimaginable. The great rebuild (great collectivization) of Lenin’s leadership paved the path for a successful Marxist-Leninist society where the hierarchical power of wealth was deconstructed and replaced by a proletariat system with many national collective councils based in different aspects and institutions of the national economy. The semi-state capitalist policies of Lenin’s socialism prepared and eventually helped the Soviets take on WW2. 6. My last point I would greatly appreciate if we could acknowledge that the eastern bloc was not formally part of the Soviet Union nor were the countries puppet states of the ussr but that each eastern nation had held national referendums and small scale revolutionary movements during a time when socialism was well on its way after the collapse of Nazi Germany. Many nations saw the success of the Soviet Union and eventually would attempt to use mass agricultural industrialization to rebuild what the Nazis and Italian fascist destroyed. They were independent nations who were more aligned with the Stalinist agenda that kept stability through the Great Depression and helped its people after the war The Soviet Union was not doomed to fail nor collapsed but with some changes of the late 20th century could have held the nation together
