    Ramly burgers was the first halal burger in Malaysia. Before ramly burgers, there was no halal burgers and patties were imported from overseas. That is the reason it was widely adopted. Being burgers it was a different food type compared to Malay food of rice and mix rice cuisine.
    Should try the ramly smoke patties. Quite a high quality meat patty.

    Worcestershire sauce was inspired from budu from northern malaya. Lea and Perrins is more of an onion sauce compared to budu. The founder asked a chemist in England to make a recipe and didn't like it at first, a barrel was left in the cellar. A year later they tried it again and found to like it after a year fermenting in a barrel.

    • @ibnulmubaraknuruddin2459
      @ibnulmubaraknuruddin2459 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So. They accidentally make the sauce itself.. No inspired from budu.. Different main ingredients such as tamarind that give distinctive from budu.. Budu itself more salty and more strong anchovies flavour in there. This is only 'kebetulan' nak sama.. Don't claimed more than that even though I also like budu

    ''yes Steve '' i think you've found yourself a really good Ramli burger stall.. and that young Bangladeshi chap did a good job.. he'd managed to get everything in balance with all the sauces he's using.. but believe me.. different stall depending on the cook will be different.. some can be really awful.. many people will go back to the stall that suit their palette.. it all depends on the cook not the stall.. on his day off the replacement cook might be a bad sloppy cook and it won't be as good as that young man.. Ramli Burger comes in chicken.. beef.. Rabbits and even venison.. the company ''Ramli Burger'' was founded to provide young people with an opportunity to start up their own business nearly 50 years ago in the Early 70s.. at the time it also provide much needed employment back then.. the price is cheap because they don't have expensive over head.. but unfortunately there are plans to gentrified the street so these stall will be hard to come by in the next few years in central KL.. that Area you were in is just a stone throw from the upcoming posh multi billion ringgit bukit bintang city centre.. where you sit will be an extension of that big development.. i doubt he will be there by year end..

    • @Steve-Owens
      @Steve-Owens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      He's a good Lad, the other lad working there and the Owner is a Local Malay, Ronnie was looking after the stall while they rested and my gosh he did a good Job, don't you agree?
      The idea of that Mall fills me with dread, another bland shopping mall to add to the hundreds of dead behind the eye shopping malls, selling Prada and McDonalds.. It is a crime that we might lose such a place..
      Is there a reason some people Spell Ramli with a "i" I know the founder was "Ramly bin Mokni" and the company name is Ramly but I also see many spell with the "i" Any reason?

      @@Steve-Owens most of the time you'd find it is spelled Ramli than Ramly. Standard Malay spelling. And you may also spell it Ramlee as in Jalan P. Ramlee 😉 15 mins walk from where you grabbed the burger

    • @muhd7144

      @@Steve-Owens There are three spellings for the name : Ramli, Ramlee and Ramly. Ramli is by far the most common, like 99% of them. Ramlee (as in P. @@Steve-Owens Hi Steve.. ''yes'' the use of ''i'' in ''Malay style of spelling'' is just generic.. some people think its cool and makes it uniquely Malay.. because it shorten everything.. but its caught on.. they use to spell ''Police'' the way the British did in colonial time.. but now it just boils down to ''Polis''.. the younger generation Millennial are bunch of sloth like anywhere else.. i'm part of the old school anglophile.. but sometime you get drag into their bad habits which is so prevalent.. all my young niece a nephews has manages to abbreviate all their spelling down to nothing ''it can be very annoying''.. as for the Mushrooming of Mega Malls in the Kelang Valley's.. its now very much part of south east Asian culture.. it a place family can go to and cool down and socialised in Aircon environment.. the expensive big name brand is strictly for the city centre.. but the Mall in the local suburb are my favourite place when i go back to Malaysia for a holiday.. a Dozen mega mall is due for opening before year end just in the Kelang valley conurbation.. My favourite is ''One Utama''.. have you been there yet.. there's some good eating place ''in very clean environment''.. ''IF'' they're still there.. even Petaling street is due for upgrade with all those trendy new hipster hang out in restored old shop houses.. by just snooping around China town you can understand why some people wants to re-classified it as Bangla town..

    Yea you found a good stall, good for you! Honestly so far I've always had good Ramly burgers all my life, but one time while I was studying in Penang, the closest Ramly stall to my dormitory overcooked my patty so it was so dry and burnt at the edges. I had to walk around the block for a good one. I didn't realize a bad Ramly burger could exist hahaa

    Ramly Food Processing Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Perusahaan Burger Ramly Mokni Sdn Bhd) is a Malaysian frozen and fast food company.
    The company was founded by Dato’ Dr. Haji Ramly Mokni and Datin Hajjah Shala Siah Abdul Manap in 1984, with the aim of developing a clean and good-quality halal Western fast-food chain in Malaysia.
    Ramly started a business selling burgers with his wife from street food stalls in 1979. While working as a butcher in a market, he discovered that it is unknown whether most fresh-meat sources were halal or not, leading to Ramly's decision to produce a halal-certified meat source, hygienic and quality products for all Muslim and non Muslim consumers in Malaysia.
    They also have a chain of fast food restaurants but not as many as McDonalds restaurants.

    All of my foreign friends love it so much. I'm really happy you love it as well. Also the messiness is the sign of goodness of the Ramly burger, if the burger is not dripping it's not a good Ramly stall.
    P.s A behalf of Malaysia, I'm apologizes for those street rat running around the city and make your trip feel unpleasant

    5:47 "What is going on with this floor?" I guess the raised tactile floors are to guide the visually impaired. Some are circle raised dots but these you mentioned are directional to prevent accidentally walking into road.
