Honestly, you chose the correct starter, leech see, sleep powder, poison powder and the drain moves can save a lot of tough long battles. The only wrong choice is squirtle, only because you give your rival those moves and they will frustratingly kill a Pokémon
Bulbasaur supremacy! But legit, grass types get so many tools to help in runs where you need pokemon to survive and win, not just running head first and relying on pokemon centers/items to supplement a frail Pokemons downsides.
This is an extremely solid start with this sort of content! I really liked the story-telling sort of angle you have when explaining things, and the meme edits work extremely well when trying to convey what is going on. Either way! Great video, I hope to see more in the future!!
Nice editing, clear narration, and good humor! I hope you'll have more nuzlockes in the future! You might want to try legacy rom hacks of smithplays pokemon. Thanks for this wonderful vid!
Thank you! I agree, it seemed like the best game to start with. Though I do regret a bit not picking leaf green to have access to Slowbro. My next nuzlocke video will be the Alpha Sapphire one I recorded! Though I'm struggling with what to pick for the one after that because as much as I want to do Gen 5, I doubt I'm skilled enough.
@@IcySylvie yeah, it’s odd that LeafGreen keeps both Slowbro and Starmie, the two water/psychic types. Usually it’s recommended to start with nuzlockes of games you’ve played through before already, but I like to say that if the thought of a nuzlocke in a certain game/generation excites you, to just go for it. If anything, can always do more than one attempt, and nuzlocking a game is a great way to learn its gameplay and mechanics :)
I am not a big twitch user, I prefer youtube as a platform, and so, I need to turn on the notifcation on your content, to see more of your new content. I love this nuzlocke as well.
poor arbok, boxed for it's ability, but shed skin arbok with coil, gunk shot, earthquake and rest is amazing, shed skin more often than not makes rest 0 turn sleep, maybe a bit too risky for a nuzlocke compared to intimidate, but it's more fun
@@ChilaAuroraVT You're probably right. I watch and play some VGC occasionally and I remember spore not working on grass types, so I figure it's the same for the powder moves. Must be an older game interaction?
I'm looking forward to doing more. I have one that I'm scripting now from ORAS that didn't go nearly as well, but I also plan to do some fun ones and then build up my skills to eventually Nuzlocke a difficulty hack.
I'm just starting! This was my first scripted video, and then we just did the Nuzlocke itself on stream. I'm glad people are liking it because this is more so the kind of videos I want to make.
Kinda lucky not getting poisoned using physical moves on the trainers Nido line cause they all have poison point. Though it probably wouldn't have changed the run much if it did activate. And yeah sometimes I also forget that destiny bond only works if your mon is expected to die in the same turn 😅. Though I have seen the AI throw and my mon would survive and I can safely pivot. The AI is weird at times
I feel like I got far too lucky in this run especially with crits. I'm working to learn the trainer AI better, but it still confuses me a lot. It's definitely useful when I progress to difficulty hacks though.
Would you try a BDSP nuzlocke? (Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) I know everyone says Gamefreak could've done more with those remakes. But the games were made harder cause gym leaders, elite 4, and Cynthia have EV trained Pokemon. Not sure about the rival, he's usually just annoying, but in a nuzlocke he can claim a pokemon if you're too careless. I know Platinum is pretty difficult, especially in the end game and is usually the fan favorite. Legends Arceus I saw was pretty challenging to nuzlocke, saw someone make up some new rules for it so people can have more than 5 or 6 pokemon for the whole game. Hisuian Typhlosion is risky cause he's the glass cannon of the starters. Pretty much every Pokemon is squishy in Legends Arceus, the earliest tanky Pokemon are Drifblim, Geodude/Graveler, and if you're lucky Eevee evolved into Umbreon. There's Eevee on the first map, but where it appears might also be a Mime Jr instead. Legends Arceus I understand takes a good deal of planning to avoid wiping on a first attempt. But still looks fun to nuzlocke and is one of the easier games to shiny hunt
Meanwhile, me: **My favorite poketuber MunchingOrange, terrible at nuzlockes, but entertaining as heck** I myself is not partcipating in any nuzlockes...
Before I watch and more than likely enjoy this video would you mind if I did a reaction too this?? I'm getting back into pokemon and watching something like this would definitely help.
Good run. I have seen the level cap rule in different ways, let me elaborate. Most play with a cap up to the final Elite 4's ace. Like this most of the team will be a bit underlevelled for the champ with some even overlevelling. I have seen people using rare candies between all gym fights. And I have seen people to level up to the levelcap of the elite 4's ace, enter the elite 4 and using all "legit in game" rare candies all at once. All in all, banning Aeorodactyl was a bit harsh but you never needed it anyways. Enjoy your time in the hall of fame.
Great advice, I appreciate it! I was really unsure what to do with levels when I got to the E4 compared to gym battles, and also in many cases for rival battles.
@@IcySylvie For rival battles there is no official rule. In some games they kinda progress naturally. But it can be very annoying to build a new team or leave a Pokemon in the box for an important gym fight to have it ready for the rival. Same thing for evil Boss fights. Primarily, these runs should be fun for you. Anyone screaming from the outside "but these rules are wrong" should shut it and just apply them to themselves. If you do try another one, I'll definitely watch it.
@@mycabbages8228 I have my second nuzlocke recorded, but I need to make the video still. I am on the look out for the next game I want to Nuzlocke even if it's not maybe a hardcore one if you have any suggestions! There's some gens I'm new to still that I'm playing through first before I nuzlocke them.
@@IcySylvie Sounds exciting! Well... I was a kid through gens 1 to 4 so I'd be very happy if you played one of those that you don't know yet. Gen 5 is objectively the best story and the last with nice 2d sprites. I stopped playing after sun and moon because the games are 90% cutscenes and therefore annoy the hell out of me. Same problems with gens 6 and 7. Also they really turned them into baby games difficulty wise (except ultra sun and ultra moon). What I'd find interesting for example is you playing ruby/saphire and only then playing the polished emerald. Same for the other gens. Nuzlockes are also always fun to watch... hardcore or not (but set mode is kind of a must). Especially for a first playthrough because the lack of game knowledge means the stakes are high and you need to improvise at points. But that's just me. You do what you want.
It's something I'm considering honestly. I just wish I was more knowledgeable like the ones I watch, but I took 10 years away from the series. Playing a bit of catch up now on gens 5-7.

Wow this video is awesome and the production quality is amazing! Keep up the great work!!!
The video looks and sounds great, Syl. It was really well edited and narrated. Keep up the great work ^-^
This was a very solid attempt and I hope to see more nuzlocke content from you soon. Very entertaining and well played overall

Coil and gunk shot didnt exist in gen 3
Great job Sylvie, congrats on the win.

Thank you so much, I loved making it!
Always found it strange that leech seed does not work against grass types yet stun/sleep powder work on grass types just fine
That threw me too. I definitely need to work on learning certain interactions better.
Hasn't that been changed since then
