Too brilliant for any words. This is the best. I modeled my rendition on old-time banjo after the Staple Singers. So haunting and wonderful. I left playing my 12 string, banjo and recorder during Covid to write a children's fantasy (fantasy stories can tell reality better than some non-fiction--you can say the truth so easily.) I am no one you've ever heard. So what. I love you all so well--your music, your truth and goodness in song.

This was our family tradition. I had 11 brothers and sisters and after each family gathering, this was sung at the closing of an event. I miss this, as I only have 5 brothers left. Now it's only done at a funeral.

November 29, 2006 I lost my mother. She died around 10:30pm when the under takers took her out of the house till they loaded her and turned a corner out of site my brother and sister who passed in (2018) sung this song together to her. It's 2020.
My mother was wonderful. I miss get so much. 7 kids and never took food stamps. She worked so hard to support all of us. Now she's gone and two of my sisters too. We will all meet on the other side.
I love this song. I just sang it at my brother's funeral. Just changed up some of the words a little. I barely made it through the 1st verse before all the tears started. I practiced without crying, but when I saw him in the casket it was completely different.....there's a better home awaiting for my brother in the sky.
I would love to hear every nationality in this world sing this song in their own way and connect with it. Death comes naturally and soon enough. We don't need to hurry it along by killing each other off prematurely. If there is surely one bonding point that we could all agree and come together upon, it is grieving the death of our loved ones

I think that both June and Johnny are God's blessings sent to us all. Johnny is giving everything he can to June and has humbled himself beyond any man's imagination. I think that the two of them try so hard and are eager to please society with their gift of music and love of their souls. Pop Staples was what Johnny Cash, and June Carter needed to blend in beautifully with their voices. Pop Staples signing with his daughters back in the day's were a group I loved to hear in their days. The Staple singers. Pop Staples sang this song with another group of great singers. Pop Staples was a rolling stone in his day's. God rest Johnny, June, and Pop Staples soul in heaven. I can hear them singing this song in heaven, pleasing God.

Too brilliant for any words. This is the best. I modeled my rendition on old-time banjo after the Staple Singers. So haunting and wonderful. I left playing my 12 string, banjo and recorder during Covid to write a children's fantasy (fantasy stories can tell reality better than some non-fiction--you can say the truth so easily.) I am no one you've ever heard. So what. I love you all so well--your music, your truth and goodness in song.

November 29, 2006 I lost my mother. She died around 10:30pm when the under takers took her out of the house till they loaded her and turned a corner out of site my brother and sister who passed in (2018) sung this song together to her.

I think that both June and Johnny are God's blessings sent to us all. Johnny is giving everything he can to June and has humbled himself beyond any man's imagination. I think that the two of them try so hard and are eager to please society with their gift of music and love of their souls. As we pulled out the 35 foot Winnebago to go on our family vacation, mom started the song, joined in by my father, older sis and younger baby brother and we would sing until we fell asleep hours later. Now all that remains is just me. Now I will have my wife and daughter.
