Ah love The Shins. Caring is Creepy and Know your Onion were my favourites from this back in the day. I preferred Chutes Too Narrow and the underrated Wincing The Night Away, but this is a great album.
Thank you very much for reviewing this great album! The shins were the first band that really made me listen to music more carefully and I am so gratefull for that. Keep up the good work!
I love this album even more because the Shins are from my city Albuquerque!!! The Spaghetti Western feel of New Slang really captures the Wild western feel of Albuquerque!!! (I think James Mercer wrote the song about some his problems with the city)
My only problem with this review is that you didn’t mention One By One All Day. I think it’s one of the Shins best songs and I just love the mystical feeling it gives towards the end. I also absolutely love Weird Divide but that’s your opinion and it’s perfectly fine. But with with all that out of the way, this was an awesome review of an amazing album.
ARTV the album's been out for a couple of hours here so I've gotten around to listening to it 2 - 3 times. There were like one or two tracks that I wasn't too sure of initially but grew on me eventually, and some that I loved right off the bat. Can't wait to hear what you have to say :D
Pressed in a book is definitely one of my favorites as well. I also love Girl inform me, Know your Onion, Weird divide (it's shorter and more subtle but it's still one of my favorites) and The past and the pending is tied with Pressed in a book as my favorites.
Listen to Santigold's discography, PLEASE! (Santogold > Master Of My Make-Believe > 99 Cents > I Don't Want: The Gold Fire Sessions) Especially, the album "Master of My Make-Believe"!
Thank you Jon for the review! I requested this album because I don't think this gets as much love that it deserves. There are a lot people that prefer Chutes Too Narrow over this, I listened to both albums but I prefer OIW. So Jon and the rest of you guys in the comments, what do you think is the better album? Oh Inverted World or Chutes Too Narrow?
Hello man, I really like your job on these reviews. Shall I submit you the latest single of my band to have your opinion about it in one of your videos ?? That’d be great :)
This is a great album but I would only rate it 4th out of all their albums for my tastes. I think the next 3 albums after this are better and the 2 newest, although good, are their worst 2.
This album rules! But then again if you ask me The Shins don't have a bad album in their discography.

Know your Onion is so good!

I love the shins more than anything
Wincing the Night Away is my favourite album by them. Top 5 albums overall right now
I'm actually cousins with the lead singer. Never met the guy lol
