I was 1 lb, 12 ounces and born at 25 weeks (about 5 months). I was in the hospital for two months and I had to get eye laser surgery too. But i was still back and forth in the hospital over a span of years. I dealt with asthma and many other things. But now by the grace of God i’m turning 15 in a week from now on November 22, 2021. I’ve overcome so many things and i’m so grateful that she’s ok🙂
My daughter was born one lb 15 oz and the doctors didn't expect her to survive now she's 15 and healthy miracles do happen🥰

I knew a girl who was my age that weighed a pound when she was born in Chicago. She was probably born in 1948/49 & she said she made medical history back then for living. Now such stories aren't unusual because neonatal medicine is so advanced.

Everytime I walked in the Unit I knew I was in Hollow Ground!
Some babies were even smaller and their skin was so thin that you could see the beatings of the heart through it!

Not trying to judge your story BUT the techniques for estimating gestational age in the 1960's were NOT advanced at all. Neither was Neonatal Intensive Care, which was virtually nonexistent. There's a VERY good chance that the pregnancy was further along than 24 weeks, especially if they were males who both survived. I'm glad that situation had a good outcome and that your husband has been able to have a good life!
MirandaFaire Honey even in the 60's they knew what a 24 week fetus looked like after it was born. Women have been having babies at all points of pregnancy from one week to nine months. It's not a genuis thing to figure out after they were born if they were 24 weeks or 25, 26,27 and so on. Since human creation women have had babies and lost babies so I'm sure they knew if the twins were 24 weeks.

There is a good reason for the title - if a baby is born before the abortion limit, the doctors will refuse to even try to save the baby's life, since legally he or she isn't "viable". If this baby had been born 3 or 4 days earlier, they would have legally done nothing to help her survive. The mother was, understandably, hugely relieved that she was born after the cutoff, because it meant she could get the medical care she needed.

Hey same! I’m a triplet too and my brothers and I were born at either 24 weeks or 25, I can’t remember for sure though. We were all under 2lbs (I was the smallest and sickest) and we stayed in the hospital for 4 months after we were born and stayed on oxygen for at least a year before we were free of constant doctors visits. That’s cool to meet someone else who is a triplet too, I don’t find myself saying that very often or if ever.

My son was born at 23weeks gestation and that was 22years ago. He weighed 1pound 71/2 ounces. At that time here in Minnesota I think that it was 22 weeks or 23 weeks where they just don't even try to save your baby. Thank God he was a little bit bigger for his gestation and now he's over 6feet tall and my very own miracle.... Sleepy I read more on this story and she did not try to abort her daughter. She was told she wouldn't be able to conceive but managed to naturally. She went into labor at 24 weeks after it was triggered by a bad infection. This woman wanted her child to survive more than anything since her conception was a miracle to begin with.

My parents begged the doctors to save his life, they refused and said "Let Mother nature take it's course" I just can't believe how they would treat a baby's life like that..💔 Even if that sounded bad they even tried to remove him from my Mother arms and put him on a cold table to make his heart beat slow down so it'll be quicker. My Mother grabbed him and held him for the rest of the time trying her hardest to protect him and at least have the last moments with her son and my baby brother.. I remember the day she came home with her head down not saying a word and stayed in her bedroom for weeks.. And my father not eating..💔 It was just so heart breaking and the amount of hate I built up for those docters and nurses who refused to save my baby brothers live is just more then I can say at this point.. sometimes the logic behind the limit is 'when could the baby be viable outside the womb', that was probably the case where the story was published.

My aunt had her baby born at 24 weeks in 2005 but the baby couldn’t survive, turns out she got some reproductive problem, her uterus couldn’t get back to its original size after giving birth to her baby so she couldn’t get pregnant. After Almost 3 decades she adopted a little boy from her husband’s far relative.
i was also that small i was the size of a ball point pen well thats how tall i was and the doctors told my mum that i would be deaf blind and all this other stuff and they told her that i would be dead but no im not here i am being able to see and hear things properly

My daughter was born at 23 weeks 1.5 oz 3/18/96 12 1/4 inches long went under 1 pound the next day and survived. She is blessed with good health and will be turning 25 this year. Miracles can happen ! So thankful indeed.

I know no one will believe me but I want to share my story anyway. I was born at 26 weeks because I was not growing in the womb. I was one pound five and a half ounces. So, pretty tiny. Long story short, I survived. I’m 13 now. I have ADHD, Anxiety disorder, and OCD but I try not to let it stop me (it does occasionally but that’s part of life). My niece was born at 24 weeks. She’s now a very healthy and smart 14 yo. It’s insane that people don’t see abortion at 24 weeks as murder.
